  1. While not exactly what we're looking for, I do enjoy Alan and Monica's first dinner party as newlyweds. (Tracy laying it on thick, whether hyping Mitch or trying to worm her way into Lesley's confidence, is just great.)
  2. I kinda like the idea that there's a still-formidable branch of the Quartermaines out there in Southhampton. Wasn't that where the family's roots were before Alan arrived in Port Charles?
  3. I liked Kassie, although it helped that her portrayal of Blair was the first I'd seen. I had a similar preference for Robin Mattson as Janet on AMC. As an adult, I can now appreciate Mia and Kate, but it's hard to discount a first and lasting impression.
  4. Nothing against Norman, but if you told me even 10 years ago that he'd have evolved in this downright deified elder statesman, I'd have been skeptical. It pays to get older.
  5. Good question. If A was still determined to leave the show, they could have brought Marcy back to escort him off.
  6. Plus Jodie and Reese.
  7. I have to imagine (read: hope) they wouldn't want to further a situation that already brought them some bad p.r.
  8. Three Sam Fowlers, two Hudson daughters and a Paulina whose body type changed! On the fourth day of '91, AW gave to me ... Hearing about moments like this always makes me think of Victoria Woods' Making of Acorn Antiques sketch. With today's lack of budget or prep time, you know they'd just rerun the footage of Judi and Anne, no questions asked.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it that P&G always wanted Judi Evans and was more than happy to drop Cali Timmins? A new Paulina, a new Vicky, a new Grant ...
  10. Which begs the questions, was Smith's daughter the least-engaged viewer known to man or was GH really that dull?
  11. She did mention doing dayplayer work on other soaps. I feel like she would have thrived on Ryan's Hope. And, in her defense, how the hell does one make giving birth "attractive"?
  12. This just makes me want to watch Kathleen's episodes and catch her sneaking a glance at the cue cards. I do like her, I swear, but she mostly comes off condescending.
  13. I'd be curious to read/hear his reviews. Five years later, Good Morning America had Jonathan Winters as its film critic. Imagine if they came calling to Joel once he joined Edge?
  14. Three looks from Trisha, of Loving. I like the first one best. Did something happen to Jeff's suit?
  15. Did someone say "weird headpieces"? I forgot the creme de la creme. Poor Elsie Mae -- I mean, Tiffany -- looks like she's wearing a baby's bonnet.
  16. I like to think it's studio footage of VW having a "can you believe this guy?" moment with GR.
  17. Yes, I scrolled back and realized you were a fan. (Meanwhile, I'm waging a tireless search for the Men of Another World gettin' down.)
  18. The lone success story would be Robin Mattson. Such awful puns.
  19. Daytime Dilemma! Give me a second and I'll post one of those. (I consider myself an equal opportunity soap fan, but ABC's promo game was on point.) Play along at home (or work).
  20. I forgot to explain my asterisk -- ABC's daytime announcer isn't Ernie because Ernie had a much deeper voice. A unique promo campaign and classy as hell. From the classy to the unabashedly trashy.
  21. I'm casting my vote for "Love in the Afternoon" 2.0. Or is it 3.0, counting NBC's promo? Anyway, the one from 1983 or so to 1985 or so. "Loooove in the Afternoon" as opposed to "Fall in love/in the afternoon." I never get tired of watching these promos. The announcer (not Ernie Anderson, @j swift, but iconic in his own way*), the music, the soap hierarchy (not too surprising that AMC and GH would often share promos) and the charmingly odd occasional interjection from a non-soap.
  22. That accent! It gives me life.
  23. I'm not ready to lose her, too.
  24. Kelly was 15-years-old and madly in love with Joe in the summer of 1979? Those Capwell women, I tell you.
