  1. Several daytime figures -- including Jeanne Cooper and Maria Arena (not yet Bell) -- give commentary on Soapdish: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-11/entertainment/ca-474_1_real-soap-opera
  2. I was able to find one article on Soapdish. Included since Stephen Nichols was a commentator: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-11/entertainment/ca-474_1_real-soap-opera (And I'll share this on the Y&R board, too).
  3. Damn ... David Forsyth looks pret-ty good in that promo.
  4. Ah, that makes sense, Carl. And thanks so much for all you're sharing. I wish TV Guide had a usable archive, or I was near my old college's library -- Michael Logan had a column talking about the Hayes in a production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf circa '93. What a night that had to have been. And the one I'd really love to dig up is when a group of L.A. soap actors (SSH, Lynn Herring and a few others) gave their thoughts on Soapdish. I remember them being favorable toward it, but Susan said she would kill to know what Lucci thought!
  5. Wow, I didn't know Andrew Masset was on the canvas that late into 1985. And hello, Josh Taylor's arms.
  6. There was also the "New Age" edition -- (thanks, SayNoToUrSoap!) -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xoYmr7a8Po I rewatched the Mathis version. Not a fan of the music, but the graphics look nice (even in an admittedly poor upload), and really, I'd have loved to see new people get phased in as time went by. Those are caricatures, right?
  7. What I love about that first theme is how with each repetition, the melody becomes more and more majestic. Runner up would be the Osborne theme. In terms of opening graphics, I'd actually give the crown to the Mathis opening.
  8. Holy cow! I never knew they found out like that. Geesh ... is it too much to ask that (inevitably) those executives get canned the same way?
  9. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to end a tense situation by just saying, "Now, Daddy, shake the man's hand and let's be on our way."
  10. Jeez ... almost looks like she hit him.
  11. Seconding this! Much love and appreciation for letting us know, Saynotoursoap!
  12. I also wish Oppenheimer had stayed on as Alistair, although hearing that about Katherine Helmond makes me wonder if they considered Robert Mandan. Didn't somebody say Robin Mattson was up for Grace and Faith? Either way, anybody would have done much better than Dana Sparks.
  13. Gramma and Grandpa would like to know what's funny, Mister ...
  14. The gold standard for that will always be Gale and Dale singing a modern spiritual ... "One Toke Over the Line". Both of them seem to be two seconds from cracking up at the ruse.
  15. Amen, Carl! And that "St. Kurt" [!@#$%^&*] (Seasons 2-3, in particular) infuriated me to no end.
  16. Frisco's former partner on the police force.
  17. That sounds incredibly compelling, SayNot! You wouldn't happen to have any of this, would you? No worries if you don't -- the summaries are more than welcome.
  18. That's the one. And IIRC, Rockford briefly thinks Webber killed her.
  19. I always get a kick out of her first Rockford Files appearance, as the wife of Ted Kennedyesque Robert Webber. She bears a slight resemblance to Linda Gray in that episode.
  20. That's the late, legendary Ernie Anderson (Paul Thomas Anderson's father). Here he is announcing a cavalcade of stars from 1979. I dare anyone to name 40+ people currently appearing on ABC.
  21. That's excellent, abw! I think it's classy for actors to fulfill autograph requests.
