  1. Most of the New York talk shows will have someone from SNL (past or present) on this coming week. Today -- Amy Poehler and Laraine Newman on Monday (Amy's also co-hosting the 10 a.m. hour), Ana Gasteyer (who's co-hosting the 10 a.m. hour), Nora Dunn and Paula Pell on Tuesday, Rachel Dratch, Mikey Day (the 10 a.m. co-host), and Bowen Yang on Wednesday, Molly Shannon, Heidi Gardner, and Cheri Oteri (10 a.m. co-host) on Thursday, and Kevin Nealon and Chloe Fineman (10 a.m. co-host) on Friday Seth Meyers -- Paula Pell on Monday, Bill Murray and James Anderson on Tuesday, Emily Spivey on Wednesday, and Harper Steele on Thursday Andy Cohen -- Cecily Strong, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Cheri Oteri, and Laraine Newman on Tuesday Jimmy Fallon -- Fred Armisen on Tuesday, and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on Wednesday. The View -- Cheri Oteri and Laraine Newman on Wednesday
  2. Shana's line was about a half-year after the Shana-Trevor meeting.
  3. They were different churches. You're thinking of both the abandoned church in Delaware where Gilbert took Ava and Sandy and the Glass Chapel outside Corinth where Trisha & Trucker's last wedding (and later, Trisha's funeral) took place. Lorraine joined The City in February 1996. Poor Charles -- losing two women within months of one another. @Kane came up with a decent way to justify this: that All My Children is a reality show to the Loving characters. There were also at least two other instances like this: Ally watching AMC while avoiding going to school at the start of her pregnancy, and Shana looking forward to catching up on AMC (specifically scenes with Trevor) while on bed rest during her pregnancy.
  4. A bit of a Neely O'Hara moment from Sharon Rose Gabet. I wonder what Jessica Collins and Lauren Marie Taylor thought of Larkin.
  5. You're famous! (That's actually really sweet.)
  6. The world's most discriminating, high-maintenance prostitute. It would be worth it if Julia-as-Karen just happened to share a scene with Wanda.
  7. If you hadn't found it by now, the discussion starts at page 129.
  8. Bumping this thread. IYKYK.
  9. Continuing my journey through Season 3. It's a testament to Val's inherent decency that she never slapped the hell out of Lilimae.
  10. I'm glad! It's fun to play detective.
  11. My eyes might be deceiving me, but in the screengrab, Barbara looks a little like Lesley Ann Warren (who did a couple Rudolph movies).
  12. Yes, we're well aware. 😀
  13. Those are very good questions. I had actually considered asking a similar one about which of the legacy soaps (debuted in the '50s and '60s) handled modernization (specifically the '70s and '80s) the best. For the first question, I think of two shows that debuted in the '70s, All My Children and Ryan's Hope. The problem is, their matriarch was never that far away from either show, so you can't necessarily appraise their independence the way you could, say, One Life to Live after Agnes Nixon or As the World Turns after Irna Phillips. (Just to name one show from either lady.) I'm afraid I don't have a clear answer for the second question.
  14. Rewatching the two 1984 episodes, it looks like they're actually from approximately a week apart. Ernie Anderson's voiceover promo over the beauty shot of Lorna and Jonathan mentions the premiere of Who's the Boss? (Thursday, Sept. 20). Sorry for any confusion.
  15. Certainly. The second video comes from the week of April 1, 1985.
  16. Great stuff! And you know me, always trying to pinpoint dates. Assuming these are consecutive episodes, the National Enquirer ad in the first video places them as airing during the week of Sept. 10, 1984.
  17. Your wish is my command, AMS.
  18. It might be a fool's errand, but I thought we could utilize this thread for talking about more than one series (especially when the discussion might be about three-five soaps at a time), and use the individual threads for show-specific discussion. I'm certainly not going to nag or insist about it, and if the thread dies, so be it, but here we go.
  19. Besides Dennis Parlato, were there other Loving actors who were going to leave in 1995 no matter what? I think we've talked about the oddity of Ava, a department store executive, not going to New York.
  20. Oh, if this is what I think it is, we're in for a treat. I remember reading @saynotoursoap's description of it back in the day and marveling.
  21. Thanks again! As you can tell by my avatar, I've greatly enjoyed the uploads.
  22. A Mary Sue is a character who can never lose. In some cases, they are someone who appears to have no flaws and/or are universally beloved. This makes it even more frustrating when a character like Leo gets such treatment.
  23. For heaven's sake, the episode literally begins with Nancy offering Chris and Grandpa some coffee. How much more quintessential can it be?
