  1. They look nothing alike, but somehow, young Franko got it into his head that Stephen Kay (Reginald) was Dave Koz (FOTH composer). I was not the brightest of children.
  2. Yeah, it's not technically AMC-related, but, c'mon, like we wouldn't celebrate a National Erica Day?
  3. Add me to the list of FOTH fans. My favorite part was always the overlapping opening notes and dissolve to the graphics, too.
  4. I guess my responsibility for 2025 will be curating all these bibles of soaps that weren't, since I thought of another: Paul Rauch's Grosse Pointe. My point(e) is that these would be fascinating reads, if nothing else to see how they would carry on what writers/producers had been doing before, or see what would have happened at a later time. On a non-bible topic, and piggybacking on the idea of The Doctors' last years, I'd especially like to see when it was apparent that Adrienne (Nancy Stafford) was actually her mother, Felicia.
  5. YES! If nothing else, just to see Louie & Kate sing "Married" from Cabaret, which is such a perfect song for them.
  6. If they exist, the bibles to Manhattan Lives, The Soul Survivors, and Aremid.
  7. Today I learned that Jan. 2 is "National Erica Day." CELEBRATE ACCORDINGLY!
  8. This talk about Tony made me reread the summaries for when he arrived in April 1984. I was under the impression that Tony & Tania was something thrown together once Frisco & Felicia took off, but it was a slow burning possibility from the get-go. Kudos to the writers for opting not to go with a brother vs. brother situation. Also, I still say that Tony and Ginny had some chem testing.
  9. I'm picking on low-hanging fruit, but you just know that Dallas or Dynasty wouldn't have had the guts to be so realistic if they were still on the air at that time.
  10. I can't remember who said it (most likely JamesFromLondon from Telly Talk), but Season 14 is the year where Gary, Karen, and Mack's second winds wear off. They're not as rich as they used to be. They're not as skillful as they used to be. And they're not as young as they used to be.
  11. As it turns out, one of my favorite bits of folklore is false. I'd always assumed that Larkin Malloy started appearing on Guiding Light the Monday after The Edge of Night ended. While it's true that GL aired on Friday, Dec. 28, 1984, the show actually didn't return until Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1985. There were two straight days of preemptions for football.
  12. I remember watching both PC and GH in the summer of 1998 and having no clue why the GH characters weren't freaking out about this serial killer.
  13. The scene in "All's Well" where a gruff as hell Gary teaches a reluctant Abby how to use a gun is so interesting to me. It feels like Gary was possessed by Jock for a moment there.
  14. Christopher Lawford was only two years older than Charles Van Eman, but he seemed older than that. ETA: And it didn't help that Lawford was 15 years older than Kelly Ripa.
  15. Okay, I try not to be judgemental, but Brian Bodine was quite the little boy toy in 1992, wasn't he? Going from An Li to Hayley to Dixie. How did viewers react to this? Not to mention what sounds like a quick ending for Dixie & Craig.
  16. Hanging out, or trying to pick up some extra money? "I can make the coffee just as well as Karen can!"
  17. Thank you. (I actually had to remind myself that Alex and Gwyn weren't a couple while he was posing as Clay.)
  18. Ah, yes, that's right. I did see that. I think I'm always going to see Max as an honorary Buchanan.
  19. "He's gone, Asa. Max is gone. It's over. I don't even know what you're turning into, some kind of pittiful human being! He's not even your real son!" -- Renée, speaking for all of us Also, I wonder if they regretted adding Stephanie/Robyn Griggs to the opening, since she's inching closer to the exit.
  20. Alex. The confrontations with Ava practically write themselves. I'd move her to New York, but not necessarily for the sake of appearing on The City. Abril's died, and Gwyn gets one last link to Clay by becoming Tommy's guardian.
  21. Okay, this isn't my exact reaction whenever the conversation drifts back to Jenny, but it's close ... No, but in all seriousness, I wish they would have hung onto Dawn a little longer rather than try again with another short-lived young female.
  22. According to the Curlyqgrl summaries, Julia left on Friday, Nov. 19, 1993.
  23. I'll keep my eyes peeled. The 1994 clip where Alex has a failed power lunch has Viki's friend Elizabeth, Billy Douglas' mother Virginia, and some other matron. Still, there might have been more scenes like that.
  24. Yeah, the idea of James being part of the "Bad Boys" era at its worst is not a pretty one. I feel like he would have been a decent host in the early '00s.
  25. James Marsden apparently tried out for SNL in the early '90s. He was 18 in the fall of 1991, but I'm wondering if the audition was actually in 1993, for the featured player slot given to Jay Mohr.
