I agree. I think some guys could make it work if done properly as you said. Another thing that happened was the derogatory term "Pornstache" became a buzzword and if guy has a mustache now days someone will instantly hurl that insult. Comedians will often grow one to use as a cheap comedy gag like Will Ferrell etc... I agree.The mustache suited their face.

The actor who played Brad also was in the first Friday The 13th released in 1980 with Kevin Bacon. Kevin was on Guiding Light at this time. The 70's and 80's was a big time for men to have mustaches. Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I.), John Beck (Flamingo Road & Dallas), Lee Horsley (Matt Houston), Alex Trebek (Jeopardy), John Oates (Hall & Oates), Same Elliott (Movie Star), Burt Reynolds (Movie Star), John Stossel (20/20), Geraldo (Anchor & Talk show Host) etc etc....Baby Boomer guys were able to pull off that look, but younger generations (Gen X, Millennials, and Z) for the most can't make it work.

I think Mitchell Sherman first appears in synopsis around 1975 or 76. Did William Wintersole play the role that early on ? IMDB lists him starting in 1986, but I saw a Y&R cast photo from 1980 and he is in it.

It's strange in a way to read about and see clips of early Nancy as a cold stern controlling woman. I remember her more as loving "Gram" by the time I came along. I once saw a clip from 1974 where Nancy is in Bob's office and they are discussing Jennifer. Nancy is pretty much shredding her to Bob. Bob tells her Jennifer wants to have a career and have a family. Nancy says' " Oh Bob, whoever heard of that ?"

I wonder what his role was ? He played in a lot of shows. He was a favorite of Jack Webb (So was Susan Hayes) who used him on Dragnet, Adam-12, Emergency etc...His son is a voice actor Cam Clarke and his niece Tina Cole played Robbie Douglas's wife Katie on My Three Sons.

In the 1974 episode posted Kay had a maid named Teresa who catered to her drinking habit. By 1975 she has a maid named Ruth. Who played Ruth and how long was she Kay's maid ? Esther arrived in 1982. The synopsis states Liz accepted a job as the cook and Kay was a hard task master. Liz eventually became one of Kay's dearest friends, so it's interesting to see the beginnings of the Liz & Kay's relationship.

They should do a weddings week. Like Chris & Snapper's wedding from 1974, Leslie & Brad Eliot 1975, Jack Abbott & Patty Williams 1982 etc...they can skip Nikki & Victor's since they have ran that into the ground in recent years.

I would love to see scenes with William Gray Espy's Snapper interacting with Kay Chancellor. Jeanne Cooper met Espy prior to Y&R and they became friends on a film set. When she joined Y&R he was thrilled. Jeanne Cooper said the early Y&R cast was so kind to her and came out to greet her when joined the show 6 months after the debut. I have seen photos of her having lunch with Trish Stewart, Dorothy Green, Juliana McCarthy etc...off set.

I never knew Snapper and Chris also lived at the Chancellor estate.

I read somewhere that Tracey Bregman went to private school with Mindy Cohn. Charlotte Rae discovered Mindy while visiting the school getting information etc... when they were casting Facts Of Life in 1979. Tracey and Lisa Whelchel were both born th same day May 29, 1963.

Looking at the early development Y&R material and what would become the Brooks sisters. In 1972 when Bell was creating Y&R there was a TV movie of the week called " All My Darling Daughters". Robert Young played the father of 4 very different daughters who all wind up getting married on the same day. I wonder if Bell saw that film and a light bulb went off and the Brooks sisters were born ?

Did Kay interact with Peggy Brooks during the story with Joann Curtis ? I would assumed Kay would have known Chris Brooks Foster since she was married to Snapper.

Wasn't there an interview with Bill Bell where he said Ted Corday basically on his death bed asked him to save his show ? Corday died in 1966. Ken talked about the barbaric cancer treatments at the time where they would zap his father with radiation, pack him in ice and bring him back to the house, carry him up the stairs and put him into bed.

I wonder who played Brent too in 1973. It would be cool if it was a soap vet starting out.

Thanks for the info. It's interesting that John Beck started in soaps that early on. He appears to be retired now along with Victoria Principal. VP is 70 now and JB is 77.

I saw that John Beck (Dallas, Flamingo Road, SB, Passions) was on Days in 1966. He played a character named Sam Wilson. I take it his character was a minor one that appeared as a patient of Tom Horton's.

Ron Becker is a character I have read about over the years, but have failed to see one single scene featuring him. I think Carolyn Conwell who would start playing Mary Williams in 1980, also played Ron's mother. Dick DeCoit who played Ron still acts and you can google recent pics of him. He seems to mainly do theater and online web projects.

How much did Kay"Katherine" interact with Snapper & Greg Foster ? I know Jill & Liz and later Bill interacted with her the most ? Did Katherine have scenes at all with Jennifer Brooks ? Someone said there was a hilarious episode where Katherine, Jennifer and Vanessa Prentiss all winding up in the office of a plastic surgeon on the same day. Did that happen or is it someones faulty memory ?
