Thanks! I thought I it was around for a minute back then. I remember hearing it was for Sonny's son, and there is a world I can see TP in the role. Not the Dante that DZ plays, but an angstier, darker version that probably would have chewed up scenery and won 3 emmys. I think it worked out the right way in the end lol. Anyway on to yesterday's show. Is there a reason Rick, Alexis, and Sonny keep having the same conversation about Danny? They are all on the same page. No mob. Yet they keep reiterating that every other day with practically the same dialogue. I thought Kristina and Ethan were good today. KM and ND were pleasant enough together. I am not sure if I am supposed to be thrown off by her saying he's not her type anymore (not female) because I still thought Kristina was bisexual. I also remember that was a huge debate post-Blaze so I won't go further into it lol. Don't hate me, but I actually think Jacinda is playing this Willow situation as well as she can. She's calm while Willow is going off and she's being transparent with Michael about Brennan's offer. Jacinda is obviously underestimating Willow's crazy though and I think there is a real possibility Jacinda may not be long for this world.

It's been a long time, but Kate seemed to be keeping a secret right up to the Sonny wedding when she got shot and after she did she started mumbling Dante or Olivia in her hospital bed. I think Olivia showed up shortly after and then Dominic/Dante a bit further down the road. It wasn't super obvious Dominic was Sonny son at first, but it wasn't difficult to figure out either lol.

It honestly could be just a fan rumor I heard. It seems like Guza cast a really wide net for Dante, but found the right actor in DZ. I do recall Kate mentioning Dante long before he appeared so who knows why it switched from Kate to Olivia on that. Megan Ward must have made some people mad backstage lol.

And GH was probably not taking inspiration from GL in the late 2000's lol. Weren't their rumors TP was going to play someone on GH though? Was it Dante?

Congrats on your retirement!!! Despite our complaints here on the thread, I do think most of us agree GH is the most watchable soap on air, so I say yes!

Maybe TG saw something in ND that reminded him of Pelphrey? I don't really see it, but who knows? I am pretty sure Nathan tried out for the Dante role and then the show created Ethan. Dante had a much larger effect on the canvas (especially in that era), so I am not sure if GH succeeded with Ethan if that was the thought process lol. He was always Lucky replacement to me and I think that was what GH was aiming for.

There was definitely a real effort to make changes on GH with PM's hiring and bringing back Laura's family. Unfortunately, we will never know exactly why it fell apart, but I suspect the ratings dipping was enough to give Frank his way and gain control back. I have never heard that. I don't really see many similarities to the characters, but I also was never much of a GL watcher. I don't think GH even had a clear plan for Ethan when he was hired. He kissed Lulu early on so I don't think the show was set on making him Luke's son lol. I thought TG stepped in and made it happen because he liked ND.

I think Ethan not having Luke to hide behind could work this time around? Part of the reason why I was never a huge fan is because Luke propped the character so hard. It immediately gave me a negative feeling for Ethan. Perhaps if Ethan stands on his own as a character he can define the role as more than Luke's bastard son. I still wouldn't have brought Ethan back, but I am willing to give ND a shot this return. I don't have terriblly high hopes though.

I think it's really difficult to take Stephanie's trauma seriously because of her past and the fact 75% of the town has been kidnapped as well lol.

It's difficult because there was a lot of rehab that needed to go into Lucky's character for him to be viable for Liz. He was basically written as a deadbeat dad for a decade. I think it's a tough challenge for these writers to give any nuance to Lucky. He has Luke's wandering/restless streak, but Laura's heart and it doesn't seem like they could balance that well? That's not an excuse. It seems like a writing failure and Frank didn't care enough to change course for Lucky. I assume JJ wanted Lucky to have that redemption and it was half hearted at best and dropped for long periods at worst.

The whole baby thing was super obnoxious and I know it's leading somewhere, but Alex was extremely accommodating to her. Telling her he'd take Trey out so she could sleep, he would care for him, and drop him back off with Chanel. He wasn't currently trying to force her to have kids because he was babysitting for 2 hours lol.

Yup. I think it was very deliberate by Frank and once JJ pushed back he became a "problem" that needed to be basically forced out. It's a real shame for the Lucky/Liz fanbase that waited so long for them to reunite.

Yeah, I don't think we ever got to the "WHO" behind the JJ and Lulu returns so it still kind of remains speculation. I applaud whoever it was that made the choice because it was the right decision. The execution was just so poor.

I think the rumor was someone higher up forced FV's hand to hire JJ back and recast Lulu and he wasn't thrilled about it. @ranger1rg I do think JJ was very particular about his wants and needs for Lucky. I don't know if it was right or wrong, but it was clear the writers/Frank and JJ weren't on the same page. There was also the very last minute recast for arguably the biggest Lucky/Liz scene in JJ's entire return.

Lol! We all can have sour grapes about JJ's return. I just suspect we will never get real answers on why it all fell apart. Havins does really well creating the feeling that she has known these people for years. She immediately clicked with her entire family and it's so rare to see. But, you know, she gets awful writing. I am not saying Laura should really even have a huge part in Ethan's story, but I loved how magnanimous she was with him and Ethan was slightly disarmed she was so gracious. It was a nice change from his sometimes goofy swagger. It was a real moment instead of Luke repeating Laura trapped him and dragged him down.

I mean, I think it was obvious they were going to attempt Kristina/Lucky, so Ethan fits in for that purpose lol. A messy Kristina/Michael/Ethan/Jacinda quad isn't the worst idea except for Jacinda lol. We can go on and on about the show squandering JJ, but it is what it is. I appreciate JJ tried to stand up for the character's integrity at least. The one thread I would like the show to pick back up was Laura/Ethan. The few scenes they had I really liked. Laura being kind to him and Ethan being awkward about his whole existence worked for me. And, yes, if they were going to give Holly/Robert a kid it should have been Ethan.

I don't really have an issue with Nathan Dean. I think he's good and has charm. The character just isn't my favorite. I am going out on a limb and assuming ND is a bit more easy going as far as storyline choices than JJ. JJ seemed to have a very specific idea about what he wanted Lucky to be and for whatever reason that wasn't accomplished. Ethan was never as iconic as Lucky so it's probably easier to write for him.

Jacinda being in Australia isn't a new thing. It was established she went there after Nina paid her off for drugging Drew, but you are probably right about her and Ethan. Ethan is a strange character to bring back. He has ties to the canvas of course, but I don't think he was utilized well the first time around either. He lingered on the canvas for a while with a fairly boring pairing with Maya and mostly hung out with Johnny Z toward the end. NP(D) is charismatic enough as an actor, but I don't think he had a huge fan base or anything. His entire existence and back story are fairly polarizing.

Brenda vs. Skye was fun. She got some shots in lol, but is there a point without Brenda or Jax? Brenda Returns - "You just missed your lover", 2002 (Brenda & Skye fight) This is kind of my fave

I have personally never gotten the GT hype because she always was just okay or fine to me. Her as Skye would be a disaster! It is what is it is on GH, but I think they tend to lose some perspective on the goal when hiring "name" actors.

I keep hearing she has many fans, but would anyone care? It's not like she has any history on GH. I don't see her bringing in new viewers or anything.

Honestly, I don't think JJ looked much different than his early 2010 run. The hair was always greasy lol. NOT ME!! Lol
