  1. Trumperazzis are a bag of nerves right now and I am so here for it! Where's my popcorn.gif ? If Fanta Fascist tries to stop Comey from giving testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committe, it will raise an Olympic stadium worth of red flags, must likely making calls for a deeper, more thorough investigation of Trump Inc's shady ties only that much louder and insistent. As of the Orange-faced Menace's 'executive privilege' well there are limits to that as well, from what I've read. Trump can try to invoke executive privilege to try to curb Congress in terms of what questions they ask Comey but that's as far as his 'privilege' extends. Ha! And while we're at it, the government (i.e. Congress) needs to get a financial forensics expert to dig through Trump Inc.'s financial filings, if they really did a thorough forensic-type examinatioin, they're likely to find something.
  2. Cornet is so ridiculous, she'll be unbearable if she gets further into the tournament. Please no.
  3. Alizé Cornet (who is still in the tournament) had an incident with Sara Errani years ago where Cornet yelled "Vamos" in Spanish and Errani got annoyed and asked "Why you say vamos?!" Supposedly Kiki has also been known to yell "Forza" in Italian. She speaks 5 languages. Muguruza, in her Press Conference before it all fell apart was said to quip that Kiki speaks like 25 languages.
  4. The French crowd has had pretty notorious reputation for quite some time. They boo a lot for tennis crowds. I didn't see the Mladenovic/Muguruza match but I heard it got intense with Kiki shouting after a couple of Garbiñe's double faults. Not nice at all but unfortunately I can't say it was the first time I have heard of players doing this. I've seen some pretty flagrant incidents of either flouting rules or poor sportsmanship in my years watching tennis. Sometimes I kinda think that the behavior of the French crowd over the years has brought bad karma to their players, which is sorta too bad since there are one or two French players that I would be pleased if they won Roland Garros. Maybe if they got a champion, they'd stop acting this way?
  5. I posted it on the previous page, it's an embedded Eurosport video.
  6. McEnroe's comment about Almagro and DelPo was in the Eurosport video. Can you see it? He actually said it was no big deal, something like that.
  7. Thankfully, I don't have to hear commentary from the McEnroe brothers, so I didn't hear that. Kind of interesting that he chided those who commented about DelPo and Almagro (were people actually criticizing this?? ) embracing and DelPo comforting Almagro. Did McEnroe say anything about the kiss between Monfils and Gasquet?
  8. I don't always agree with him but I can't disagree with McEnroe's comments here. Not to disaparage Court's achievements but the majority of her Australian Open titles were won when very few of the top players actually showed up to play there because they thought it too far to travel.
  9. She appeared last season too.
  10. This is what I was talking about when I tagged you in mentioning the separate thread someone had created.
  11. I have re-watched some episodes in '85 months before Marland started and believe me, stilted dialogue did not start with his tenure on the show. It remember a January 85 episode, in particular where it almost seemed like several actors were trying to ad-lib their lines. Lots of awkward pauses and stumbling over words. The most veteran actors managed well with the dialogue but some of the less experienced characters...no bueno!
  12. @Roman A separate thread has been started in the Off Topic Lounge. I don't normally watch CNN but there is an interesting CNN Interactive feature about Trump and his somewhat tenuous, fuzzy relationship to religion. One of the most interesting sections talks about how two days before inauguration, Trump meets with two Presbyterian pastors and he starts bragging about how much of the evangelical vote he captured. One of the pastors mentioned that they are not evangelicals. Trump asks them what Presbyterians are and they respond that they are mainline Protestants. Now this next part had me saying "Wow". Trump proceeds to ask both pastors if Presbyterians are Christians! Keep in mind, Trump was supposedly a member of a Presbyterian church growing up in Queens! One of the pastors there is currently from the Trump's former church in Queens- the same one he attended as a child (it is a LOT more diverse now). Also, there is a video where some former fellow Sunday school attendees talk about their impressions of Trump then and now, including a man who was part of the first Black family at the Queens church. It's worth a read. God and the Don
  13. I saw a headline somewhere that mentioned that Vilau was separated, divorcing that teacher. As for Marr, (oops Maher, is it?) I've basically been ignoring him for several years now. He may have an occasional point every now and then but everything that comes out of his mouth carries the taint of egotism, condescension and blatant disrespect with it. I know people have their axe to grind against Wayne Brady but Brady certainly was right about Marr. Meanwhile, Trump Inc. plans to hide and bury the CIA's papers on the depth of torture in the years after Sept. 11, 2001 as far and fast as he can. Trump doesn't plan to read (no surprises there) the extensive report, from all reports. Trump Administration Returns Copies of Report on C.I.A. Torture to Congress
  14. Speaking of Goolagong, I see that there is a petition going around to rename MCA after Goolagong. I love this idea! Goolagong may not have the load of titles but she was a trailblazer in many ways and has continued to do outreach to indigenous and marginalized people to this day! Sometimes when you are taking measure of an athlete, you have to consider impact and not just the amount of big titles and on court wins before making an endowment of such magnitude as naming an entire arena after someone. Clijsters won at least one major title, U.S. Open, after returning from maternity leave/retirement. She was also in her twenties. If anyone can defy the odds, it would be Serena.
  15. Very true. I once read that industrialized countries are responsible for the overwhelming lionshare of the world's greenhouse gases but the poor nations are most likely to suffer the consequence. It's unlikely that Nicaragua's carbon footprint even comes close that of the U.S. and other industrialized, wealthy nations.
  16. Well, Nicaragua plans to be 90% Renewables by 2020, so it's not really comparable to the laggards. A few months ago, I saw a video where they were well on their way to making all their schools 100% energy independent. Those who are lumping Nicaragua in with the 'laggards' are inaccurate and unhelpful to the debate. People should take the time to see and learn what the country has actually been doing. People there seem fairly committed to taking their own energy independence into their own hands.
  17. Too busy making those champagne popcicles, I guess. I'm reading that Nicaragua (who didn't sign the Paris accord because they thought it didn't go far enough), is embarrassed to be on the list with the U.S. so they plan on signing onto the accord. Trump is quickly dragging the U.S. into pariah territory, the kind of country that other countries will only deal with when they absolutely must and have no other choice. Ever since the Russians began to grumble about how Trump was no longer 'their man' a few months ago, I've been on Vlad Watch to see when/if Putin would start dropping little nuggets of info to blow up Donny's 'spot', which is why my ears perk up when old Vlad started his plausible deniability about Russian hackers, who in his opinion are patriots.
  18. Yeah both @Soapsuds and I were discussing this on the previous page earlier today. I said that it was pretty difficult to watch that all unfold.
  19. I enjoyed reading your post @Ms. Quartermaine Very succinctly put. Pittsburgh's mayor gave Trump a great clapback. Also, Elon Musk and Robert Iger both resigned from the Trump's advisory council.
  20. The leader of the free world has spoken. Meanwhile, 61 U.S. mayors have declared that they are following the Paris accord. 61 mayors adopt Paris climate accord after U.S. pulls out It has. Trump has become the OJ of the 21st century.
  21. Much like his disastrous Muslim ban, of which he is now facing lawsuits from individuals in addition to being struck down and held down by court decisions, Donny talks for the base with nothing to come. Likely things won't change except for the fact that China will have a much larger role on the world stage (which it has always craved) and Europeans, Canadians and even Latin America and the Caribbean will see the U.S. as a place riddled with problems run by a Looney Tunes character. For all the problems in those countries they will crow that the majority of their leaders are more sensible and have more discipline (at least publicly). Hell, even Duterte doesn't want to be seen in public with Trump!
  22. People talk about the 'Third World' as if it is the pits but guess what? Nicaragua is on its way to being 90% Renewable energy by 2020! The U.S. should be so lucky to be a 'Third World' country now.
  23. I remember one of my screenwriting professors grumbling at us with our bottled water, asking where was the booze and why don't writers drink and smoke like they used to in his day! Sadly, a few years later, this professor died of a heart attack.
  24. All those people who believe that Dumpster Fire Donny can actually turn back time and Make Coal Great Again are in for some disappointing times. Corporations have already calibrated, retrofitted and adjusted their companies for the greenhouse gas lowering regulations that the EPA put in place years ago. They are not going to undo all that. More states and businesses realize that wind and solar energies are building viable industries and creating jobs and that's not going to change. It's only going to expand. In fact, I recently read about a coal plant that had put solar panels on its company headquarters. To save money, Kentucky Coal Museum turns to solar panels If that's not a sign that solar and wind have genuine benefits, I don't know what is! Just like with the ACA (AKA Obamacare), people have already adjusted to the reality and it's a fantasy to think that people, corporations and states legislatures will throw all the benefits of this away for an idea whose time has already come and gone. Stop snorting the covfefe and get real, Donny.
  25. If anything I see the GOP becoming ever more committed to voter disenfranchisement and voting suppression techniques. Irrespective of messaging, many people did not go to the polls and a low voter turnout tends to favor Conservative candidates. When Obama ran voter turnout was a priority (especially the first time around) because of the fear that people would not vote for a Black man. The second time, even with Obama voter participation %s were lower. Compared to the rest of the world, the U.S. has piss-poor voter turnout. There are a confluence of factors, but the U.S. by having voting on some ridiculous weekday, never rises to meet its potential with people going to the polls. As a former resident of NYC, I got to see up close some of the machinations of the Bloomberg administration, but that's a topic for another day. Suffice it to say that many NYers regret letting Bloomberg hoodwink them into that useless third term. He did some good for the city (bolstering the wealthiest, landscaping, etc) but I'm glad to have never voted for him. I did vote for HRC as my Senator, so there's that. Well if Toupée Fiasco wins in 2020, well thank God, for dual citizenship. I can literally go to a tropical island to live.
