  1. Apparently he walked off the set right after this speech. He left someone else to take over the rest of the show.
  2. Is that nuisance Tulsi Gabbard still buzzing about? Didn't Steyer come in 3rd? A very distant third but he owes that placement to whichever of his campaign workers stole Kamala's data (which they claimed they never used-wink) for his strangely generous showing in SC. Still wasn't enough but a lot better than he would've done with his $$$$ alone.
  3. I'm hearing that Klobuchar has ended her campaign. Events are moving fast. It was pretty much a fait accompli when she canceled her event yesterday. The protesters had shown up in advance of her appearance anyway.
  4. Paying to get tested for coronavirus? Something is seriously wrong here.
  5. The vitriol of the Bernie Bros is running neck and neck with the often caustic disposition and personality of Sanders himself as a turnoff for someone like me. And this is coming from someone, who as a college student and graduate once admired many of the positions that Sanders used to discuss, when he once used a tone that was indicative of someone who had respect for other people and not at all the person who readily disparages others. I know that there are followers and fans of every group that are abrasive and irritating but the Bernie Bros are a different level of fanatic and nastiness seems to be a prerequisite. I also think that those who are trying to say, "not all Bernie followers/admirers" are increasingly throwing up their hands or are remaining silent, probably because they know that their voices will never reach above the fray of Bernie Bros ready to shout them down. I feel as though, for about a month, I've been reading too much about the coronavirus but this thread is a very interesting, if unsettling read. You know it's never good when/if any administration is compared to the Bush administration's handling of the dissemination of information regarding going to war in Iraq. There are definite similarities in how the information has been tailored to fit the desired narrative in both cases, to support what the administration wants to show in order to persuade.
  6. Well, Flavor Flav has left the group before so there are likely underlying philosophical issues brewing there. This Sanders rally situation was probably the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I too applaud Buttigeig for leaving the race to make way for a clearer path for coalescing around a viable candidate. I follow (and am followed by) quite a few gay men of color and none except for one, was actually checking for Pete. In their tweets many expressed a kind of weariness, if not exasperation that Pete did not speak to their issues or issues such as the mortal peril that transgendered and transwomen, of color especially were facing as well as protection of their civil liberties. I will say that even though I mostly avoid subtweets and comments, which are often vitriolic and nasty, I did see some homophobic comments that I blocked as I don't want that venom anywhere near my social media. I reflexively learned to do this when I came across the disgusting comments I'd see about Kamala Harris as well (some of which I had to report because they were threatening as well as disgusting).
  7. From what I heard, Mayor Pete was not long for the primary race. Speaking of which,
  8. It's great that Ms. Gibbs appears to be getting quite a bit of work these days.
  9. Looks like the left-wing factions are feuding on social media, lol. Yesterday it was Warren, today #DropOutBernie is trending.
  10. Gather yourselves, it's about the students. My mother used to be a teacher, my brother is a teacher and my uncle is a teacher- I told them about this and they suggested that these teachers are in the wrong profession, which was in my first thought. Yes, be upset, after you've intervened to help the students. These kids will remember this for a long time, perhaps a lifetime and it won't be long until they start wondering why the teachers just left them there to fend for themselves in a classroom. WTF.
  11. That's pretty clever because looking back on scenes like this, one can make a case that the seeds were planted and ready to be cultivated. Lily was already somewhat fragile by Martin Guest's suicide, but with Guest dead and buried, they'd likely needed something else to play off in regards to the rocky mother/daughter dynamic.
  12. Also, who/where were these teachers? Why didn't they stop this? I would've immediate told this man to get out of my classroom.
  13. This actually doesn't surprise me, for many reasons. As BHM with Trump in the White House concludes (I pray for the last time), I come across news items like these, which should be a reminder to folks that racism does indeed still exist and there is a distinct difference between prejudice and racism. Racism is when a person in power (such as a college/university recruiter) uses his position to degrade and deny opportunities (such as jobs, housing, college acceptance) to people based on skin color and hair texture. Exhibit A.
  14. There were rumors that Tony Todd would make a cameo but either those rumors are untrue or it's being kept a closely guarded secret?
  15. I really hope that this isn't true. And with such an idiot in the White House...it's enough to cause one to shudder.
  16. This one's for all you Days fans out there.
  17. I suspect that the Bernie Bros are losing their sh*t over this one, lol. They were already bringing out the "low-information voter" trope that Bernie trotted out during the 2016 primaries. 'Low information' being dog-whistle code for 'blacks in the South'. I haven't checked the results so I have no idea how the candidates placed other than Biden placing first.
  18. LOL, Nathan Lane in that Cheetos commercial (18:00), on the March 2, 1984 episode. And that awkward dinner party with John's reaction to drinking wine, lol. The music cues haven't aged very well. Nevermind that it's obvious that TPTB were determined to use that Giorgio Moroder music as often as possible but that weird music cue when Margo tells Lyla about Craig's involvement with the fire right before commercial break. Whatever happened to The Refuge? Ironically, (or not) another one of Steve's buildings would go up in flames a few short years later, the house at Ruxton Hills. EDT. That November 1984 episode was compelling, from start to finish. I don't remember ever seeing that episode, perhaps a few courtroom clips. The sound mixing could have been better. I'm glad that someone decided to take it down a bit in terms of the thunder in the courtroom scenes because the loudness of the thunder was really distracting, although I wished someone had thought to do the same with the sound mixing during the Lucinda and Lily scenes where the sounds of thunder were still entirely too loud. I appreciated the juxtaposition of the elation of Steve and Betsy and Maggie and Frank at Maggie winning her case and Steve's case being dismissed with the anguish in the McColls and Connors families. It's downright ironic that Lucinda is the one urging Lily never to keep secrets. I wonder how far ahead did Elizabeth Hubbard know that Lily was adopted. Did she yet know in those scenes with Lucy Deakins?
  19. I just realized that Craig spent a whole lotta time in the hospital between the years of 1984-1987. I spent at least a full day or two in the hospital every year between 1984-1987! That situation between Lyla, Frank and Maggie seems deeply messy. I was very distracted by the music in the restaurant/cafe, was that a Sheena Easton song? Thanks @victoria foxton these don't look like they've ever been uploaded to YouTube before! At least, not that I've seen.
  20. That did cross my mind more than once as I listened to the podcast, especially as she mentioned that her husband commented that she couldn't honestly go back to that place after. If not her, I'm sure there has to be some #MeToo stories in daytime soaps. Surprised we've only heard one or two accounts. And harassment is not always physical, it can be emotional and psychological. It is an abuse of power and at the risk of reading too much into a podcast, given what we've heard about Goutman, he definitely fits the profile of someone who lorded and abused his power over others, namely actors who he probably considered subordinate to him.
  21. U.S. is on track to become Japan in 5-4-3-2...
  22. The theory that the virus will dissipate in warmer weather is just that for now, a theory based on previous flu epidemics and SARS, which is from a similar strain as the coronavirus. It has yet to be proven that the spread with diminish by April, but we hope.
  23. On the subject of wanting to stay alive.
