  1. I wonder if he had more interest in working behind the scenes, even back then, as he has done a lot of editing work over the years.
  2. I'm genuinely not trying to shade Sinopharm or Sinovac, but I am truly curious to know how effective those vaccines have been, particularly against the omicron variant. I'm not sure whether we'll ever get an accurate answer to that question.
  3. Oh, it was definitely a mess. I felt especially bad for Venus and Serena, it's the second time that they had to be caught up indirectly in someone else's baggage.
  4. Prefacing, by saying, again, not condoning (because posts will be misinterpreted and ascribed meanings that aren't there) but in his memoir, he talks about feeling like a coward, not protecting his mother from abuse and other instances of freezing when he felt he should have acted to protect someone. He talked about a harrowing experience of seeing a little girl who was being lured by a known pedophile in the neighborhood as a child. Fortunately for the little girl a grandma prevented her from going into the man's house. He talked of the shame of not stepping up to protect her as a little boy. Shame and being perceived as being a coward seems to loom large in his life. He clearly went far in the other direction, towards the hyper masculine behavior. It was wrong. Chris Rock wasn't right for making that joke when he himself promoted a documentary on black women's hair and profiled a woman who suffered from alopecia, with all the trauma that brings. But that moment had more to do with the two men, than the woman. If you don't know what it means to have your hair deemed political and don't recognize what that means for Black women in general, maybe this is not the topic to extrapolate on.
  5. Whose name was actually Steven but Lucinda stated that she called all her butlers "Matthew", so that became the name he answered to while at the Walsh mansion.
  6. Have other people been on a stage where there was a "staged" slap and a real slap? In theater, I have personally been on stage to witness both. That was no staged slap. That was real.
  7. She looked nice too.
  8. You can take it or leave it, it matters not to me. His book details him having grown up in a toxic, abusive household. It doesn't take a genius to see where that can lead. That is not condoning the action. RIF.
  9. He won't. It will likely be talked through between the two of them. Just very awkward to see.
  10. I just deleted my tweet because I realize it's already been posted. I will say that Denzel Washington is a great actor and a great man, the way he is trying to diffuse that situation.
  11. Jada has spoken about this on her Red Table Talk and before that Essence magazine. Still, an assault on live television...
  12. I told you all, y'all should have read Will Smith's biography. He grew up in a home with a lot of violence.
  13. Why did I decide to check Twitter One. Last. Time??! Whew!
  14. I might have to check the roundup tomorrow because I'm not staying up for this.
  15. She's a fan of GG too, so she might say "Well, gracias honey". As long as they stay in place is all I'm gonna say.
  16. Venus looks 🔥
  17. I just read that article and was wondering if it had been posted here. Thanks to @marcelineI didn't have to post it. I read the headline out to someone who guffawed immediately. "How will they make bread?"🙃 If Aven believes he is being treated so unjustly by U.K. financial authorities, he can repatriate to Russia, where his money and connections to the Kremlin will afford him a comfortable life. Nobody is bombing Russia, so he'll be fine there. It seems he wants to have his cake and eat it too. I have many issues with how the U.K. operates historically, politically and sometimes even culturally but this is not one those issues. The U.K. government is free to place restrictions on the flow of capital from these Russian oligarchs to insure that the flows don't eventually funnel into funding warfare that will be used to launch attacks on people hiding in shelters. Me: squinting, looking at what thread we're in. But as long as we're here, personally I would exile Billy. Has Griffith ever killed off a character with a story that was compelling? Why risk it? Send Billy somewhere, perhaps a more capable writer in future (should they ever decide to replace JG) may have use for him. Although Cassie's death story was very compelling and provided some story for the actors who portrayed her parent for a couple years, it was the beginning of a lot of problems for stories for characters in her age group going forward. Gaps that exits to this day.
  18. Matteo Berrettini smokes??! Some post from Amanda Anisimova's IG is causing a stir among people, first because of her dinner companions (though it was later explained that there were more people than were in that photo who claim that Matteo had a vape pen in his hand. I don't know anything about vaping or e-cigarettes as I don't smoke, so I didn't notice.
  19. One of those "reaction videos" somehow came across my recommended list and a guy and his girlfriend were reacting to The Pleasure Principle and afterwards, the guy said something that struck me, something I took for granted when I saw this video for the first time as a child, and every subsequent viewing over the years. He said that this was the first time he saw a singer perform an entire music video doing that level of choreography solo, no backup dancers. And I think back to that era and I try to recall another music video where the singer danced the entire video, full-on choreography (not just prancing), with no back up dancers, in fact no one else appears in the video. Of course, years later, performers like Mya and Ciara who said they were inspired by Janet Jackson did solo videos but when I think back, I can't remember any other singer doing a full music video just them doing that amount of intricate choreography.
  20. The first Sean was goofy and the recast was dour, all he did was chastise Andy for not taking care of Courtney. I was looking past the character by then.
  21. Courtney didn't bother me like I know that she bothered others but there were episodes that I missed out on watching the first go 'round. The fact that she didn't really have a family rooted on the show didn't help to cement her character to the canvas either. She was Sean's younger sister and Sean himself wasn't truly anchored as a character himself. He was kind of dating nuFrannie, which just wasn't enough of an anchor for the character. Then the character of Sean got a recast. That Baxter connection was kind of unmoored. If you compare Sean to Kirk Anderson, you will see the difference between an anchored character from an un-anchored character. Right away, Kirk became integrated with Lucinda Walsh and Iva Snyder and the Snyder family, who had been on the show for several years by then, same actors, no recasts.
  22. Sort of soap adjacent star but, is anyone watching the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise Of The Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty? Gaby Hoffman, an accomplished actress who also happens to have been the daughter of Anthony Herrera (ATWT, James Stenbeck) is in this series. There is a scene in particular where her character, Claire Hoffman loses her temper with an assistant and I was struck by the resemblance to her father. The intensity on her face, the eyebrows. I wish I had a clip to show.
  23. Maybe I wasn't really watching much during that time because I don't remember Courtney trying to model.
  24. Nia Long is telling you all that she and other Black women in Hollywood are here to stay!
  25. What an assessment. Thread.
