I have to admit that I've been partly guilty of that. When Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland and there was dicussion about extraditing him to the US to stand trail my first thought was: "Why don't they just let it go? It's been so long, stop harassing this man, He's been through enough anyway". But then I thought about it and felt deeply ashamed of myself. He raped a girl, and he should have to face the consequences for what he did, just as she has had to do since then. I also have to admit that I really don't want some of the rumours I've read in this thread to be true, like the ones about Steven Spielberg. And I would be completely crushed if there were accusations about someone like Peter Jackson, whose Tolkien movies are some of my all-time favourite movies. So in a way I can understand why someone would defend these men. Like I said I had the same gut reaction when it came to Polanski, and he's not even someone I particularly care about. So I can imagine how hard it would be if it was someone you've admired who turned out to be a criminal who could do things like this. Hopefully all this will change now. I know that I have changed at least.

This hasn't happened yet in the US? Here we have had stories from not only actresses, but also from musicians (both in the popular genre and in the classical genre), politicians, athletes, people in the legal profession, teachers, people in health-care, people who work backstage in film and theater etc. It feels like hardly a day has gone by without new revelations.

More than even Dallas or Dynasty, the mini-series based on books by the likes of Jackie Collins or Sidney Sheldon, have, for me at least, become the symbol of the 1980s. I don't think you can compare Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The latter was founded by Jews early in the 20th century, whereas the former has a long complicated history and is an important place for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.

According to who? Last time I checked Jerusalem's status is a major issue between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel has occupied the eastern part of the city since 1967 and the Six-Day-War.
