  1. Oh, nice find! This is when Nola and Quint went to London. I think that's when Nola first met Helena. The maid's name was Effie and Nola became friends with her.
  2. This is from an October 1972 "TV Dawn to Dusk" regarding Ed Zimmerman's death. Nice tribute from Mart Hulswit. I found Zimmerman's book referenced in the article on openlibrary.org where it's available to borrow as an e-book.
  3. I'm enjoying your reminiscences TimWil. I always liked Geraldine Court very much, on both Guiding Light and The Doctors.
  4. Thanks for sharing the Robert Clary interview. Never saw him on B&B but he was right about Robert on Days and Pierre on Y&R being very much alike. At least Robert wasn't murdered!
  5. You're welcome. Peter Brown was on Days longer than I realized too even though I was watching at the time. I read his autobiography recently and his heart didn't seem to be in acting on soaps no matter how long he was on them. He definitely preferred the westerns.
  6. Tom and Alice were great people but most of their children were messed up in some way. Tommy was probably the most well-adjusted. I think Addie had some regrets about her first marriage. Doug seemed exciting to her after being married to a stuffy banker, although the banker provided well for her. She seemed very snooty to me at first but Doug loosened her up. Before they got married she always called him "Mr. Williams" in sort of a sarcastic tone and then after they got married she would call him that in an affectionate manner. I wanted Doug and Julie together but I did like Doug and Addie too, and Doug genuinely loved her in the end.
  7. Yes, and Doug and Julie had gotten the tickets for each other the previous Christmas, lol. Julie had told Doug it was over that day when they argued about taking David with them to Italy (Doug didn't want to). She called him later to say she was sorry but it was too late, he'd married Addie. I remember Doug and Addie being shown on the plane and Julie was shown throwing things around her apartment. I was so furious with Addie for doing that to her daughter but I don't remember being mad at Doug. I suppose because he was a bit of a rascal at the time so his behavior didn't surprise me as much.
  8. I would love to see it again. And I only got to see it when I was out of school (meaning elementary through high school) so I didn't see everything. I realize now how spoiled I was when I see the cast Days had when I first started watching (plus Bill Bell as the writer). By the way, I'm fairly certain that the picture of Julie in Doug's lap is from the episode that started out with Doug and Julie planning to elope to Portofino, Italy, after Julie divorced Scott, and ended with Doug accepting Addie's marriage proposal. Doug and Addie ended up using the plane tickets to Portofino.
  9. The second article is about Days and its actors winning the annual fan poll. Some may not remember (or know) that Bill Hayes went to the top of the polls before Susan Seaforth did. As much as I adore Susan, I feel sometimes that Bill gets short shrift from the show.
  10. These are a couple of articles from the August 1973 Daytime TV regarding Days' success. The first is a sort of behind the scenes history.
  11. I have a Daytime TV article from 1977 regarding "Q" ratings for daytime stars. Apparently, this was the first year daytime actors and actresses were included in the ratings. Kathy Glass ranked #2 among daytime actresses behind Susan Seaforth Hayes and ahead of Jacqueline Courtney, Victoria Wyndham, and Denise Alexander.
  12. This is part of the Variety Show that was held as a fund raiser for University Hospital in the 70s. The uploader says it's from 1978 but I believe it may actually be from 1978. And this is when Doug's Place was moved and renamed Doug's Place on the Lake. This is opening night. The uploader says this is also from 1978. But I think it must be 1979 or 1980, when Doug was still married to Lee but wanting to get back with Julie. Doug sings "The Look of Love," which was Doug and Julie's "song" since 1970.
  13. Aww, I wish Jessica at least come have come back for Nick's story.
  14. Susan has dropped hints that an NBC executive wanted the show to appeal to younger people. I'm pretty sure that was Brian Frons.
  15. This is Doug and Julie in the madam's bedroom. The clip ends shortly before the police show up.
  16. Well, Chris was quite the ladies man at the time, lol. He was Kayla's first lover. Yeah, this was not the best hair period for either Doug or Julie.
  17. Woody and Oliver were definitely duds. I wasn't crazy about this Melissa either. The Joshua recast was okay but not as good as the original. Doug and Julie had some fun moments during this storyline (as opposed to all the drama they had previously been used to). Julie eventually got the code off of Mitzi's hip tattoo by getting in the hot tub with her. They even got arrested while in the bedroom of the madam of a brothel. Julie had dressed up like one of the madam's girls.
  18. That actually became Liz and Neil's song so he was destined to hear it many more times, lol. Liz even sang it at their wedding.
  19. Didn't Victor has some role in Cates' criminal activity too?
  20. That's Melissa Anderson (Horton) and Oliver (don't remember his last name). Oliver turned out to be the brother of Woody King and Gwen Davies. All three had some back story about their father being abusive or something like that. That's why they had different last names and pretended that they didn't know each other.
  21. Danny Grant was murdered during that storyline too.
  22. It's not Martha Smith. Can't think of the actress' name but it looks like the character "Gretchen" who was Marlena's secretary/receptionist during the Salem Strangler storyline.
