  1. My problem isn't with the Capwells.. but with the lack of balance. It's all Capwells with little to no focus on characters outside the Capwell sphere. Which is why I'm enjoying the early Julia episodes before she gets sucked into the Mason vortex.
  2. Too much focus on the Capwells... no wonder the show never got true ratings success. And I actually don't mind the recast of Santana... she certainly wasn't wishy washy like Gina G was... but agree, she wasn't intense or meloncholy like Ava was.
  3. So on the AMC board, they were talking about restaurants/eateries/clubs that the characters in Pine Valley hung out at.. and it made me think about the establishments for Guiding Light. I think I recall The Blue Orchid in the mid 80s (had a very sleek 80s look to it), The Blue Moon, Towers, Company, Millenium (I liked how over the top it was..like the original owner Drew).. but I don't recall a lot of new establishments that came about in the final years of the show.
  4. https://www.inquisitr.com/4773484/could-the-real-housewives-of-new-jersey-be-canceled-show-is-reportedly-on-hold-ahead-of-season-9/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+google%2FyDYq+(The+Inquisitr+-+News)&utm_content=Yahoo+Search+Results http://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/one-of-the-real-housewives-of-orange-county-will-not-return-next-season?cid=soc_fb_RHOC_RHOC_Dish Thoughts?
  5. Karma is a funny thing. That's all I have to say about the Mario story. R hobh, I think I get why Rinna was watching season 1 of R HOBH to see what worked and made that first season stellar. In shirt, genuine friendships, organic conflict, fun vacations, and people actually enjoying being around each other. Plus, it was filmed in the old format of having their own day to day lives (L VP at the DMV was both funny, offensive, and cringeworthy...yet it was real and not scripted). Teddi...poor Teddi. Like a deer caught in headlights. If she's smart she will bail on coming back next season.
  6. She called it BJ's....lots of jokes on the boards about that lol W asnt there a restaurant called serving spoon as Well? I also liked the New York place the characters went to called Nexus...in the 80s and 90s. I always figured McKays and holidays were similar...but I guess not.
  7. I will say that the Pollack's have set up things nicely with Ann's eventual character change. Ann's conversations with Matt and Maggie showed us more then I think even the character realizes (though Maggie picked up on).
  8. I don't know where it's posted.. since I am fortunate to have one of the few stations airing it... but I believe tomorrow will be the start of June 1975.
  9. Between the time that Donna is introduced in January 1983 and Michael's arrival in 1986.. the show had countless writer changes... and I doubt bibles were generated.
  10. Oddly.. when Donna S did them on AW.. they worked much better then when she did them on GL. Maybe because they were only done once in awhile instead of every week.
  11. If any shoe could be rebooted of P and G...it would be edge of night...crime and drama will always be in. Also, Capitol could be rebooted and this time taking advantage of the DC backdrop.
  12. Not to defend Feons...but SFT w asnt cancelled by him..but was cancelled by P and G...NbC wanted to pick it up for another year, but P and G couldnt afford to produce it. All due to the writer changes and the lousy timeslot (which p and g insisted on). Not sure about Generations..but AFT, like EON, was cancelled by P and G.
  13. At the same time, variety is the spice of life. The women in the OC used to be able to woohoo it up...and the women in BH never could (cept kyle and vanderpump). Also, I think Delores' family life is 'boring' but boring is good...balances out the trainwrecks of the other housewife families. What fascinates me is that Delores encouraged her daughter to educate herself and use her mind vs her looks....yet her son is all about his looks and she encourages that. It fascinates me because it's usually the son is encouraged to educate himself and the daughter is pushed to model.
  14. That's why I want to see Delores next season without Soggy. There were a few (key word few) instances 8n talking heads when Delores didn't quite get where soggy was coming from. And yes..rhonj and rhoc are the family shows of the franchise...and Oc veered from that since cancergate in season 10. OC needs to get back to the family angle and less of the toxic petty fights. Shannon and Kelly are divorcing (they have kids with fully realized personalities). Teddi in the OC....my question is more how would she handle Vicki moreao then Tamra lol but man she wpuld havve her work cut out for her as accountability coach eith Kelly, Vicki , Shannon and t amra on the show lol
  15. RHOBH is going through an identity crisis, but at the same time, the thing that made season 1 so wonderful was that it was all natural... LVP was so much more relaxed and not as overly done up as she is now. Plus, her and Kyle were genuine friends in season 1 before their estrangement as friends. This will make me unpopular, but I got a kick out of Delores getting under Danielle's skin at the NJ reunion.. Danielle is a skank and pure trash. And I loved the lost scenes episode that aired tonight... I wish some of these scenes were shown during the season rather then Soggy having numerous meltdowns, or Danielle talking about sex in public places.
  16. Just saw some of the May episodes... Steve is class A d-bag... why he and Carolee survive as a couple I'll never know.
  17. I always viewed Jill as more the Alexis Carrington type moreso then Dina..imho. For long time viewers, was Deborah Adair's take on Jill more of a Krystle/Alexis hybrid? I know that in Brenda Dickson's first episode back in the role (i don't know if still on youtube, probably not).. she had a more regal/harsher tone then Deborah Adair could ever have had playing Jill...imho. Bill Bell was a master at keeping characters in their separate stories/lives.. and then intersecting them at surprising moments (i.e. Spring 1984.. Ashley is attending Victor/Ashley's wedding as a guest... by Spring 1985.. Victor/Ashley are starting the road toward an affair... years later... Ryan Mcneil/Victoria were a Romeo/Julie story in summer 1991 while Nina was dealing with the David Kimball mess.. by summer 1992.. Nina/Victoria/Ryan triangle was in full swing). Y and R was a show that wasn't about everyone knowing one another (especially in the early 80s).. so I don't know how a Marland/Nixon would have altered that if they had taken the helm..etc.
  18. Do you think the show would have benefitted from dumping Sally Sussman from headwriting duties. The concept of the show was interesting with a lot of potential.. but it just didn't seem to gell when put into practice.
  19. I knew the show was going down the tubes when they brought Beth back in late 1997 and had her acting so out of character.. even with the show trying to provide reasons for the change.. it still didn't make sense. And there was an interview with BC at the time where she mentioned the show told her right off the bat that they were going to make the audience root for Philip/Harley with Beth as the vengeful third party... when I think that the triangle could have been interesting had the show written Beth in character.. and had the audience conflicted over who Philip should be with (his first love vs his current love). Seeing how BC played the character in her first stint, it was obvious that she was being directed to act bizarre with the wierd acting tics when she came back in 1997. In later years, she eliminated most of those acting tics and played the character much closer to how she played Beth in her original stint... which was close to how Beth was truly written. Oddly, I was also thrown during Lizzie's rebellious years how Beth mentioned how like her she was.. and seeing how KT played Mindy in 1983.. Lizzie was more like a young Mindy then a young Beth.
  20. Hopefully Eva's acting has improved because she sucked when she was on Y & R. Nice that housewives are getting some attention at SNL... back in the day, you know you'd made it when you get spoofed on SNL>
  21. So would June/July of 1989 be the period when the show finally starts to get going? I recall that the early episodes were very slow moving with a lot of exposition and little action, or plot movement... kind of like SSM's Y & R.
  22. Steve is such a dumbass! How Carolee could love and stay with the man boggles my mind. I keep telling her to get some self-esteem and divorce the SOB. Armand is handsome, but I don't know if I buy him as Mike. Penny is back!!! With singer Andy in her sights, she will make mince meat of insipid Stacy LOL
  23. I recall there were episodes before the official transition to the new filmed look that had the traditional type of film mixed with the new filmed look.. and it was jarring. I remember my mom texted me and told me that it looked like the show was ready to commit suicide with this new film look because it was shaky, the lighting was awful, and distracted from whatever was going on with the characters. 18 months later, the show was dead even when the show improved the filming somewhat. Peapack was the wrong choice because it made the show look country/hickish..when the show was never that way even when Pam Long wrote the show (she had a good mix of down home and cosmopolitan when she wrote the show both times).
  24. To me Pam Long's 2nd reign stands out for me because she fixed the mess the three previous headwriting teams made during her 18 month absence (and she left the show in an interesting place with Alexandra vowing war against Billy/Kyle due to her son's death and Reva's suicide attempt at the bridge.. all of which the following regimes didn't build on) and it also gave a preview of the Curlee era of the early 90s. Both of those reigns made the show very watchable from 1987/88 through 1993... same as what viewers probably through of the Dobson/Marland/early Pam Long era. I still love the disco intro, but I loved the early 90s intro the best with the light house flashing.
  25. Because of the book..faye wouldn't be accepted by most people. If she didn't come across so sleazy and mean spirited...and actually changed..that would have been different. The fact Kyle was good friends with her has always shaded my view of her because there is an old saying about the company you keep reflects who you are as a person. Kathryn, as I've said before, almost seemed too nice for the show. During the reunion, she looked like a deer caught in headlights. With that said, she had a nice house, cute husband, and they traveled alot..so I think she had a lot to bring to the plate..but the show didn't let her develop organically...they threw her in regarding the book then vs Erika before we got to know her. Same thing happened with Carleton and Joyce in season 4. Rinna, Eileen, and Erika had individual vignettes before they merged eith the rest of the women. Dorit and Teddi never did.... The last time a friend of made an impression on OC was in season 7...drunk Sarah (her drunken rant at the bowling alley then eating a bow off of heathers cake). And jeana made waves in season 6...and poor Lauri tried in season 8 but was too laidback to truly stir the pot (Lydia would have been better as a friend of in season 12).
