The black suit is an alien substance called a symbiote (sp?) that infiltrates Jameson's son's spacecraft, sending him crashing back to Earth and injuring him. The symbiote acts like a parasite and at one point finds a host in Peter/Spidey. It's weakness is volume/sound/high decibels. It eventually goes on to create Venom with Parker's photogrphy rival Eddie Brock.

 is that cartoon backstory?

Spider-Man was given the Alien Costume in the Secret Wars. It was a big battle across the Marvel universe that featured many of its heroes on an alien world. After a while he realized the suit was alive and feeding off him. It eventually found its way to Eddie Brock.

after some refresher on Wiki ...

Keith's story is the cartoon version of the Venom Saga.

The true Venom story is as follows.

Spider-Man's costume was destroyed during the Secret Wars, and in an alien lab a machine created him a new costume. Turned out he used the wrong machine, and freed an imprisoned symbiote.

Symbiote began to feed on him. Determined to fully bond with Parker, it would envelope him in his sleep.

Peter finally realized what it was and with the aid of Doctor Strange it was driven off him with sonic waves and kept by the Fantastic Four. It escaped, tracked Spider-man down to a church and tried to bond with him, but Peter's rejection combined with the loud church bells drove it off to seemingly die. There it found Eddie Brock, who was about to kill himself over a combination of Cancer and humiliation over the Sin-Eater case, and became Venom.

Eddie Brock is the most known host to Venom, but he gave the symbiote up with a new found sense of religion. It bonded with a mob boss's son briefly, and abandoned him while in mid-air which killed the host. Eddie Brock seemingly slit his wrists in an ally over this. The symbiote then bonded with Matt Gargan aka The Scorpion. Gargan still holds the symbiote, however in the recent issue of Civil War where Spider-Man revealed himself he is seen alive, but sickly in a hospital bed. Word is he'll reclaim the symbiote in time for Tropher Grace's movie version of Venom.

    • Portugal qualifying was the only shocker. I'm really happy for Iceland. IMO, the automatic finalists – Spain, Switzerland and Italy – had the best performances. I love the studio version of Azerbaijan, but on stage, it was a disaster.

    • Randy (Doug's friend who works for Joey) -- Joey told Randy weeks ago that Joey's plan was to get Doug into so much debt that Doug would be forced to get Vanessa's real estate holding turned over to Joey, to use for money-laundering.  That's been the plan all along, which the viewers knew.  The only thing new is that Joey finally told Doug this. I think Joey is written badly.  I also think Jon Lindstrom is doing "Now I am going to act menacing".   But I don't really feel the menace.  It's too overdramatic and it doesn't feel like a real person.  Jon is a fine actor on GH, so I don't know what's happening here -- the entire BTG mobster premise is badly designed/written.  I don't know if Guza pushed for a mobster storyline?  Or did Jon?  (Jon wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters). It just doesn't fit.  It feels (to me) like this storyline for Jon was just shoved onto the canvas but it doesn't fit all all. Monday's scene of Mona coming into the "casino" to check up on where Leslie supposedly lost money in the slot machines -- and Randy explaining to Mona that there are no slot machines, there is nothing but the card room.  I had to laugh because they had characters comment that it's just a card room and not a casino -- the show is now acknowledging that there's nothing there.  If they are going to do this, then have it make sense for Fairmont Crest residents to visit a high-end glamourous casino, and not a random room with one table. So what money is Joey laundering? A while back, Joey told Vanessa that he knows about her sexual philandering because owns the escort service that she'd been using. But I don't care...  I'd just prefer that the entire mobster storyline go away.
    • I caught up this past weekend. The show is better written, but I have been bored with the show. I did notice it ranked in the top 5 again this week, so that's a good sign.
    • I can't take this show seriously. I truly miss WJB writing this show. Bradley didn't inherit his dad's talent.
    • Maybe if there had been a good close up or two
