I don’t think Kat is exactly gunning for Businesswoman of the Year. She simply decided she didn’t want to spend her life scamming people with mental health issues like her mother does (who, by the way, must be a terrible psychiatrist) or scamming voters like her brother, an elitist who pretends to be a man of the people.

So instead, she’s humbly helped her family. She helped her father by humbly working as a secretary at his office, and now she’s helping her cousin because, let’s face it, without Kat, Chelsea probably wouldn’t even be able to sew one of her handbags shut.

She’s certainly worked harder than her sister Eva, who went from being a hairstylist to landing her first job because her mother ran over the person who originally held the position, and then got her second job because she’s a nepo baby.

Speaking of Chelsea, though, it cracks me up how she always seems to be an afterthought for the writers. Her last real storyline was the kidnapping a year ago. Then we got this marriage proposal with a one-year deadline, followed by a one-episode revival of her kidnapping trauma. Other than that, she’s back to rattling off percentages and statistics, which never fails to make me laugh because she gives off the impression of someone who couldn’t add two and two together.

She’s a failed character we never really needed in the first place, and that becomes more obvious by the day.

Chelsea should've been Charles, honestly. Too many women in the Dupree family and not enough men. Charles Hamilton has a nice ring to it. If they'd written him like they write Chelsea then Charles would've had a boyfriend. 😃

I can diminish Martin, Naomi, and Chelsea, too, by describing them in terms that aren't flattering. It wouldn't take all that much to make them seem less capable than Kat.

Not sure if it came across that way, but I wasn't throwing shade at Kat at all. My original post mentioned that Kat had a lot of talent and skills. I just meant to say that we can't ignore that privelege played a role in this business getting off the ground so quickly- otherwise Kat would have started somewhere at the bottom like most.

I also do find it odd that Kat was just a office manager for her dad. I don't mean this to shade Kat, but when all her cousins and sibling are well into their careers, she was just helping out her father in the office. Seems like a job rich kids do as a teen or college student by working for their parents before they go into an actual career. And yes, Kat may have been very happy with that, but were her parents? It's not like we haven't seen that Kat has skills or talent. She is the business brain behind ChelseaKat, she has good instincts for investigating. She loves fashion, true crime, etc. Why wasn't the character set up with a college degree or career like her other peers. Kat seems too driven for that

Thoughts:

• Elon turning to Joey about Lia's death and the Impaler says a lot about Joey's reputation, and it is no bueno. It makes me wonder how much longer until Joey is taken into custody because of Heather's games.

• Oh, this does not sound bueno... oh, it is just the news of Lia's death. I got concerned it was about something far worse and personal to Grayson.

• Heather, girl, you are psychotic, and the fact you are barely flinching and just eating your own blood? Oh, you are on another level.

• I like that Ted is visiting Andre and not the other way around. And the news of Lia's death is spreading quickly.

• Andre, leaving town at a time like this kind of feels like a potential risk.

• Dani, the words coming out of your mouth sound true, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that your sissy knows otherwise.

• Heather eyeing Grayson, knowing he was part of the plasma ring operation, while casually needing assistance at Garland Memorial following Lia's death/suicide, is very on point with the character. Cannot wait to see how this could potentially unravel.

• Not Hayley trying to get Bill to go to the dentist. What an absolute moron. And I am glad that Caroline is suspicious of this.

• Oh Vanessa, now is not the time for you and Jaylen to show up and discuss the redesign of the high rollers suite, even though it needs to be done.

• Damn, Carlton is smooth with Heather... almost too smooth for my liking. Soft and delicate? Interesting. Very interesting. And of course she does not want to disclose her last name, real or otherwise.

• Nicole's reaction to who Heather is related to is... very interesting and telling of how she might be feeling right now. Her bestie is dating Joey and now her former love interest is flirting with Joey's sister.

• Whew... Hayley, you are snapping way too easily. You clearly do not get that Bill is onto your deluded games right now.

• I like that Grayson is leaning and talking to Ashley right now about this and that Ashley is not allowing him to pull away. And wow... she dropped the "L" word. That is powerful and I am so glad that Grayson reciprocates that feeling! Yay!

• Joey's off-putting attitude (or scowling, as Vanessa puts it) is very unattractive, and I am very happy that Vanessa is calling you out on it.

• Oh, Andre, why are you at Heather's hotel suite? You are making a risky choice right now. And Andre, if you are attempting to play Heather, I do not think it is going to work. Heather just sliced her palm open without barely a flinch or care.

• Ouch, Joe Joe. That was harsh and uncalled for. Beyond uncalled for. Saying "I'm sorry" is not going to just erase how you just acted.

• Oh goodness... here we go again! Andre, this is not good. Not good at all. And this just gives Heather all the more ammo she needs to sink herself back into your life... and her reaction just proves that all the more.

Notes:

• A classic soap script day, thanks to Slater. And while I would have preferred not to have spent the first part of the episode being a slight recap of last week, the way in which Slater did it was classic soap writing. And Sandifer's scriptwriting was very confident and rooted in character.

• The rollout over Lia Whitmore's death is interesting and is very much a classic soap storytelling technique. And thankfully, as of right now, we are not four episodes deep into it being revealed.

Oh Andre you have made it so much worse lol. Good for us who love drama but bad for our fair FC denizens

And why was he so upset about Vanessa showing with the room designer? Is that the only "office" he has in that big casino? What a joke.

-- Psycho Woman Alert: Heather is now cutting herself and drinking the blood. I don't know why Heather couldn't be bad without being mental.

-- Two steps forward, one step back in the Bill and Hayley story. Instead of confronting Hayley, Bill asks Caroline to keep an eye out. That's it? Get it moving, writers.

-- Does Carlton love bomb every single woman he talks to?

-- In no universe is Uncle Ted's advice to Andre any good. Why in the hell would Andre think that telling Heather he still cares about her would buy him time and be a good move?

-- The Lia Whitmore/Impaler story continues to be poorly written.
