I agree! I am not a fan at all! One show that I do think pulled it off quality wise was Port Charles but look what happened there: it got cancelled during their six months off and they couldn't do a proper finale.

BTG has finished season two so I would imagine they filmed through December. I hate, hate, hate that. I feel like the max should be 3 months so you have time to adjust things as needed. If certain actors pop you may want to pivot and the reverse, if actors don't work or don't work together you might wanna make changes which this format doesn't really account for.

Outside of it being cancelled without no proper finale, yes, PORT CHARLES might be the exception to that rule. Cuz usually as soon as there was an issue, the very next arc appeared to correct it from what I remember.

Exactly! I think we all know the plan was going to be Andre/Ashley, but the audience resonated and saw the heat between Andre and Dani (and the stronger chemistry between the actors) and we literally had to wait for the part of filming where the changes kicked in near the end of Season 1 for the writers to play Andre and Dani less a fling and more a potential supercouple. And even longer (November/December) for the writers to see the REAL soap triangle with legs and audience division was Bill/Dani/Andre. And EVEN THEN before the tornado, it was like the writers still would not just let the triangle be organic and not slanted toward one side or the other. Which I complained about all the way into the start of this year. lol.

Honestly, this Hayle story has been made up as they go along. I don’t think this was the original intention for Bill/Hayley, even if they always planned for Dani and Bill to hook up again down the roa

Honestly I find much of the show a chore, and quite frankly, unwatchable right now. The other soaps suck as well so I’m not going to act like there’s any better alternative, but this show has serious

Yay! I'm caught up to this week. Sorry I missed the Monday episode for this week again, but I am getting the hang of the posting schedule so hoping that is the last of that.

That said...I actually think this is the first week for me that had no flow. I really felt the last few weeks have had a flow and solid story structure. This week? Not so much. It really did feel like a series of scenes being thrown at the wall and seeing what stuck. Or just more of a tuning in on all the plots going. It even introduced a new plot in the possible Allison is back storyline.

Honestly the highlight was the Silk Press Sheila flashback episode. And cuz I haven't said it all week...Ted ain't #$%&. All I could think watching those scenes was poor Shanice. She is definitely in for a world of hurt. That said...I honestly love those scenes and getting the backstory between SPS and Ted. And Mrs. Grant did such a great job displaying Dana vs SPS in the present. It made me wonder exactly when she went cray cray because the Dana back then...was refreshingly human and still had all the humor we see in SPS. Bonus tea goes to Bill trying to talk Ted out of cheating.

But honestly I love that so many people have been sitting down SilkPress (Ted, go, Eva!) and trying to honestly get through to SilkPress that Ted ain't there for her. And...she honestly doesn't seem to get it. I don't know how she can't, but it has been fascinating to watch. If this is a way to get SilkPress back to scheming, I am here for it. She's been doing a great job staying a thorn in Nicole's side through Noah without being a cartoon. Could she be the same with Ted?

Heather/Andre/Dani started off strong that week. I felt it peppered off though I enjoyed her toying with Andre and Dani. I really can't wait to see her start to toy with Martin and Smitty because that will put her in Joey's crosshairs.

Kristen Dimera...I mean Hayley's antics with Bill were hilarious. However...perhaps she SHOULD poison everyone else. Or find a way to get them off her trail. Now would be the time for her to frame someone. I have definitely loved that Mrs. Goings has stopped being meek and is now giving as good as she gets in her catfights with Dani. Now, NOW they feel evenly matched.

Yeah, I think I am over Naomi vs Tomas. He can't act even when he has a valid point. And Naomi is overbearing even when she has a valid point. And her running to Daddy when she does not get her way does not at all help. I do love seeing Caroline. And at least Madison's lawsuit is on-screen.

I'm shocked to say this since I'm usually in the minority, but I didn't care for all the singing but I watched that episode during the tired and busy part of my week. And let it right out delete. Sorry, Nicole.

And...IS Allison back? I do love that the writers picked up the one year anniversary thread of trauma that Chels might have from being kidnapped. And it is intriguing.

That's all I got.

I'm trying to figure out why the "internet" seems to despise Eva.

Slanted writing and not enough time for her to be a social pariah before the soap redemption arc...not helped by her not publicly saying that she gave as good as she got in her fights with Kat. I was personally happy myself they had a one-on-one scene in the hospital talking about that post-surgery. But...given the above...and again not publicly...I can see why they might have issues.

The writers seem to be trying to build up a show history to give it footing in a genre with fellow shows that have between 40 to 60+ years of show history to draw from. That can't be fully achieved of course, but I think it does explain how speedy Eva having a redemption arc has come along. But I can see it being valuable Eva's mellowing out comes with her having to get a dose of her own medicine for her past behavior.

It just occurred to me as I stay ahead of this player...

are we getting the running joke of the Duprees trying to hunt down their holiday gifts this year, too. I loved how it was sprinkled in last year and would not mind.

I also find it funny that Heather has not told Joey who her ex was knowing the deadline on the bet between him and Dani is closing in and he would surely help Heather to win.

Yes, it was!

Plus, Eva had Kat's "business savvy" pegged.

Where would Kat be if it weren't for Chelsea?

This was probably the highlight of the week for me. What Eva said is true. Kat is smart, shrewd, and sociable. She has an incredible skill set on paper, but without her connections and wealth she would have started at the bottom like anyone else. Without Chelsea's model career and huge social media following to promote and push product as well as Dupree money to get these products made, there would be no ChelseaKat. At least not as easily as they had it off the ground (and def not with that basic bag we first saw on the runaway). We also have little knowledge of Kat going to college. She worked in daddy's office until she didn't. Another cushy job that was handed to her. Kat seems to never have worked very hard for anything in her life.

It was funny that Izaiah joked about Kat being in the force or helping investigate. She does have the natural talent, but she probably never cared to pursue anything because mommy and daddy already had money. I do like that Eva was also smart enough to say that without her father, she wouldn't be in the job she's in now. There is awareness on Eva's part that she is also benefitting from Ted.

While I like that they showed this side of Eva's feelings towards Kat, I have little faith that writers will develop this into something that could be a great story.

Kat is interesting in that she had two high achieving, career oriented parents in Ted and Nicole and a brother who is a politician, so she is the odd one out. Has this ever been addressed?

You would think her parents would have had high expectations for her, but everyone seems happy for her to parade around town in her little outfits and not really have a conventional career.

I know this can happen in these sorts of families, where there is one child who goes against the grain, but I wonder if this has ever been explained as to why she chose this path and why her parents seem happy about it.

Every one of the kids in the Dupree family benefited from privilege, so I think it's unfair to paint Kat as some big disappointment who has to explain herself.

I also don't see how Chelsea has much more going on than Kat. Plus, with ChelseaKat, I've never seen that as a success solely or primarily because of Chelsea.

Definitely not a sucess just because of Chelsea. The Dupree bankroll helps as well. Having a great idea is one thing. Having the money or backing to get it off the ground is another. It has also been shown that Kat is the business side of things at ChelseaKat, so she does seem to have some know how. She also was running office at Ted's clinic, so she is definitely smart girl.

That is why I agree with @Paul Raven in the sense that we never got to know what Kat's ambitions were before the bag. All the young Duprees are all career minded and have well established careers at their young ages. Naomi is an attorney with her own practice (that we never see), Chelsea is a retired model that is an influencer and now entrepreneur, and Martin is a politician that is running for senate. It is odd that all we know about Kat is that she worked at her father's office as a manager/scheduler of sorts. You would think that Ted and Nicold would have expected more. Did she go to school? Was fashion always in the cards? Was Ted okay with his daughter just being the secretary?

And most of them are subpar. I don't buy Martin being in politics.. he just comes off as elitist and not for the people (his opponent should have been a grassroots candidate that would call him out on his privilege), Naomi also is subpar as an attorney.. too emotional, I don't buy that Chelsea was some sought after model nor an influencer people would want to watch.

Kat, on the other hand, did seem to have a grasp on technology, is analytical, has good instincts, and could excel at any job she wanted to do... and I'd love if she went out and didn't rely on the Dupree name.

and would have done opposition research that brought the whole coverup to light, defeating martin

I still disagree with you, because it still sounds like you're throwing shade at Kat.

I can diminish Martin, Naomi, and Chelsea, too, by describing them in terms that aren't flattering. It wouldn't take all that much to make them seem less capable than Kat.

I'm much more in agreement with @Soaplovers on this one.

I'm not denigrating Kat at all. She is presented as having a good business brain. Just wondering why the daughter of two professionals and sister of a politician didn't have a more prominent career. Working at her Dad's office and then launching a fashion line.

I would have thought her parents would have expected more. Now maybe they didn't and whatever she chose to do would be fine but has that ever been discussed or clarified?

Chelsea I can see choosing that path because Dani would have encouraged an interest in fashion due to her past. In fact it was dealt with that Dani wanted Chelsea to model because she gave that up and was living through her daughter.

Bill would have been happy with Chelsea modelling as Naomi had followed in his footsteps which he would see as a reflection on himself but also just wanted his girls happy and sees all that fashion stuff as girls' business.

Hope I've made my point a little clearer. Probably not!!

I hear you, but when you say "I thought her parents would have expected more," it still sounds as if Kat didn't do enough, as if she somehow failed to meet expectations.

Honestly, that seems to be more of a parent problem than a child problem.

Fulfillment can come in other ways outside of doing what your parents think you should do.

Again, I can make the case that Kat forged her own path while the others were led/pushed into theirs by their parents and relatives.

For me (and I understand you might disagree) that and her career decision making doesn't need to be addressed.
