Eva's comment about Kat wasn't really negative as much as it was surprise. Kat did berate Eva in the stairwell until she saw her bleeding profusely not to mention practically wishing her dead previously so it would be a shock to her that Kat took such a risk to save her life.

MVJ definitely needs to slow down with her unwarranted fascination with Jon Lindstrom - the character is awfully written, but there is nothing interesting about Lindstrom’s performance either. Frankly

A surprising amount of "kumbaya", even amongst those where it shouldn't be expected, runs rampant. It's another thing that closes off storyline possibilities in my opinion.

I just watched the last episode today and Kat had me tearing up. They dont deserve her

Literally only Nicole and her grands seemed to understand Kat. This whole situation has made the rest of the bunch in particular Martin and Isaiah look like complete pricks.

Martin's opponent in the primary never even had a NAME, did he/she? When the primary was first mentioned in the script several months ago, Vernon said something like, "You've got a VERY DANGEROUS opponent. You really need to concentrate on this upcoming primary."

I thought it would be a cool little story for this "very dangerous" opponent to appear and accuse Martin of being a nepo-baby, etc. And I hoped he or she would try digging up a little dirt on Martin, scaring Martin into thinking "The Terrible Secret" was about to be exposed. And of course it ultimately wouldn't be, because the writers are saving that for later. But it would've made a much more interesting primary than just a campaign manager who appeared twice, a livestream in Orphey Gene's, and an opponent with no name.

I'm wondering if we're going to get a late-in-life pregnancy with Dani and a "who's the daddy" story?

Of course, there's no way Dani looks like she could be the mom of a 30 year old. Just like Nicole and Ted look like Martin's siblings. Especially, Ted. I've never bought him as Martin's father. They look the same age!

I wish there was a strong Tomas that could be part of a Eva/Kat/Isiah/Tomas triangle. I feel like it's a missing piece of the puzzle.

I wish there was another actor playing Tomas. This guy is too soft and smooth. He needs a little more machismo.

I really liked the first actor who played Ted, but the current one has really grown into the role and made me forget that there was another actor who had the part.

My favorite character is Eva, who has the purest heart and soul. She's so kind, always trying to hold her mother back from her worst instincts. Every time she's with Leslie, she has to go, "Ma-muhhhh!". I can't remember a scene with them in which she didn't have to say that to her outrageous but hilarious mother.

Was browsing posts elsewhere and folk are really wishing Martin lost the primary, which I think is weird.

I'm guessing they're upset because Martin lit into Kat about not jumping right in to donate her liver.

Exactly!

This is going to be interesting how this plays out.

The most frustrating was Martin and Kat having a moment in her hospital room before her surgery. There wasn't even a scene to explain why he is so hostile towards her. It borders on an abusive relationship. I'm no longer giving the writers the benefit of doubt, and it's a choice to make Martin an insufferable jerk and then hop, skip, and jump over that. Someone probably thought it was a 'good read' and that's it.

I’m interpreting Martin as another sleazy politician - his motive in coming down hard on Kat to donate to Eva is/was driven first and foremost by public family reputation and how it would look if a member of his family was a match and didn’t agree to donate. Otherwise, he wouldn’t really have cared. But the writing isn’t directly implying this either.

I think the show is so obsessed with making the Duprees look good and be “right” all the time that they mostly come off as super sanctimonious and quite unlikable (Martin being no exception). I don’t think this is totally by design, unfortunately, though I do wonder if it’s partly to appease any guidance from the NAACP. Like, maybe they would be upset about members of the core family being inherently more gray or directly unlikable?

They got a ratings boost from the Y&R crossover, and the stuff with Eva has been good, but as Agnes Nixon told Michael Malone after Megan’s death on OLTL, “what’s next?!” Not sure I even care that much about Bill/Dani/Andre tbh. I need this week and July to maintain a certain momentum that’s been missing for a long time, so hoping that happens.

They really have to watch this amount of kumbaya and the rush to it when something big happens.

It offers a good screen moment, but then what? There's a reversion to former behavior and we wonder what that was all about.

Elon hugged Izaiah, but the next day said that really didn't mean much. Martin blistered Kat with his remarks about her, and then cooed at her hospital bedside. Leslie joined the Duprees in the hospital lobby. Now what? Do we go back to Old Leslie? She did wrap Anita's ankle, you know.

Shanice was as kind to Leslie as she would have been to her own mother, even ignoring that Leslie destroyed hospital files.

I get it. Kindness matters and everyone has moments of goodness. I just don't think scenes like this pay off if they're immediately followed with characters reverting to form.
