original release date: Friday, June 19, 2026 (#312) | writers: Sara A. Bibel, Skyy Sandifer | director: Shelley Curtis

Thoughts:

  • Oh snap! Did the tornado take out Dana's shouse? Haha. That is hilarious.

  • Dana is right: it should not have taken this much time for a decision to simply test to be made. Argh. Hate siding with Dana on this.

  • Hayley has settled into the elitist mentality way too easily. She thinks she can snap her fingers and things will just happen... well, not for you, darling.

  • Elon, stop avoiding your son. I get you have feelings towards him but he could genuinely use your support right now.

  • Of course she would book it from the hospital... starts doing the right thing, and then retreats. 😑

  • Sweetheart, you are telling me you are not okay with buying all-new products? Or new clothing? That ~is~ superficial, which you embody from head to toe.

  • Oh, another elevator meeting. Elevators are going to be their thing, and I am here for it. Nothing like a good, simple kink.

  • Oh s**t! The shouse is all out gone! And not shouse 2.0! 🤣

  • While I do think Katherine is a spoilt, self-centred bitch, it is a bit presumptuous for Izaiah to assume she would go right into surgery. Chelsea did remind him to not get his hopes that high up.

  • Wow... surprised Darlene showed up but it shows that she really cares for Izaiah and is willing to put off her feelings towards Eva to be there for her son. That is beautiful.

  • "But what about me?" Ugh. Making it about her, and it is not about her in this exact moment.

  • Oh, and there is a donor match on the registry? That is interesting. Now it will boil down to whether Katherine agrees to the surgery or if the donor registry will be what pulls through.

  • Bill, sir, please do not do this right now. Do not bring up Dani like that.

  • Hayley... once again, having conversations like this in public for everyone to just overhear.

  • Sweetheart... Derek was never your friend. At all. You did not care about him so do not use his damn death as some kind of cover-up.

  • Wow. Look at Darlene being the stand-up person and approaching Dana right now. Shows how true her character is aside from her beliefs about some.

  • Omg. No! That is not the kind of scenario a mother would want to hear! 😪 But Dana... not you wanting to take that liver out of the recipient. Damn. Money will not fix this. I know she is hurting, but that is not the answer.

  • Dana, he did not purposefully dangle the donor list match in her face just to yank it away. It sounds like someone got the matching before they did, and it unfortunately went to the other match.

  • Surprised Elon showed up for Izaiah. Very surprised. But it is nice to see that.

  • See, Katherine, Anita did have a choice about chemotherapy. It was her choice to receive it. That comparison is unfair.

  • Katherine... the universe is trying to teach your stubborn ass a damn lesson... maybe you should listen and learn that lesson.

  • Derek gave you hope? 🤣 When in the Hell did that happen? Do not use the dead's name to sell your story. And I know that Naomi is not buying your story, either.

  • Katherine, you are making the right decision. It may not feel like it now but you will feel good about this decision later on. There will not be guilt. For the first time, you are doing the right thing in your life.

Notes:

  • Bibel did outstanding with how they handled the breakdown for today. A good flow to the script. And Sandifer is really proving themselves as a scriptwriter. Solid pairing today.

  • Woo-hoo! Another Curtis day! Happy we get to see her vision on Beyond the Gates. She knows how to produce results without wasting time and knows how things can be edited together. She sees her vision before it is even final.

  • Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) continues to do award-worthy work. I buy her as a mother who is grieving the potential loss of their child in these episodes. Yes, it can be a bit over the top, but she is hitting every single mark that she needs to.

  • Lami (Izaiah) is not built to handle this kind of material. His emotions are coming off very forced and very studied and not in the right way. Plus, his bobblehead is still bobbling.

MVJ definitely needs to slow down with her unwarranted fascination with Jon Lindstrom - the character is awfully written, but there is nothing interesting about Lindstrom’s performance either. Frankly

Really strong episode. The Kat decision made for really good, soapy drama this week. Her decision to go through with it was touching and emotional. I really felt for her, which just shows how strong Colby has been this week. The previews for next week, showing that there may be a complication, was heartbreaking! It kept the tears going today.

Wonderful performances today by Tricia and Colby. I also really loved watching Elon hug Izaiah. Tomas was the outlier - that final scene where he kissed her before she went into surgery - so bad. The weakest link this entire week was zero support from Tomas during Kat's decision. It was more about family, but in reality, a partner should be way more involved. Writing is on the wall for Tomas and his future with this show (or at least the actor's).

LOL at Hayley pretending to care about Derek to get her butt out of trouble. Naomi wasn't buying it.

It was a great showcase of the qualities Shelley brings. She knows how to bring the heart and milk every emotion from the given material. Reminded me of GH episodes she used to direct when Claire Labine was HW in the 90’s.

It really is apparent she knows how to pull out the emotions within a scene. She knows the marks to hit to ensure we grasp what's needing to be told for the episode.

Peter's return and death is especially confusing as there was zero point.

I genuinely do feel like someone at the show is just trying to bring back every Dimera they can, even just for a pop-in.

BC has improved in his performance but I still think he only has one gear and that's anger, which is the easiest emotion to portray. Still, at least he emotes, unlike AA.

Anger or being prim.

Anita helped Kat a lot, but Kat's motivation for being the donor was mostly about not wanting to be viewed negatively by others.

Bill is incredibly scummy and deserves what Hayley is doing to him. He had no reason to try and tell Andre what happened other than to be mean.

I concur that Hayley pretending to be upset about Derek was funny. It harkened back to those evil characters who loved playing modest and decent at times to cover up their misdeeds.

-- Writers needed to do a better job of coming up with a reason for Bill and Hayley not being allowed into their home. A fallen tree?

-- I don't understand the reason for saying Leslie's shouse was destroyed. Is this so they can delay adding another set?

-- I appreciated Naomi looking completely unimpressed with Hayley's grief over Derek.

-- I still say Dani should have taken the morning after pill. She's going to get pregnant and decide to do nothing because she won't know if it's Bill's or Andre's. We're heading for months of Who's The Daddy, I fear.

-- Colby Nixon did wonderful work again today, allowing us to understand and feel for Kat when she could have come off as a complete villain. The only people villainizing her are those who already despise Kat.

-- TMG has been very good, although I'm side-eyeing her "Kitty Kat, I love you so much" schtick.

-- Good to see an emotional moment between Izaiah and Elon, but we still don't really know what the problems were between them in the first place. It's all kind of vague and generic. Oh, except for the Joey Is My Mentor stuff.

-- Nicole was kind of over-the-top today, I thought. Her yelling at the nurses station in that scene with Martin and Ted was a bit much.

In the first episode they set up a Mona/Laura relationship and straightaway we were thinking mmm...Is Mona actually Laura's mother??

Lies!!! Everyone here was making the connection/theorie of Mona being Hayley's mother. I was the one who put out there about Mona and Laura just off Mona's monologue about not wanting a child. I stood alone on that and owned it repeatedly.

Uh, I want to be left out of that assumption please. I said that Mona had Auntie vibes and I was hoping that Mona would have been Laura's Auntie.

On a separate note,

I'm tired of the excuse given of the merger for Paramount/CBS/Skydance being the reason Black viewers have to eat dirt on any and all cultural markers. Why have a show then? We can accept that for the first decade of Y&R's run they didn't feature a single Black character on their canvas and 🤷🏾‍♀️but in the year 2026, it's inconceivable to have more than generic storylines on a show that allegedly centers a family headed by man known as a Civil Rights stalwart? M'kay.

I know the Ellisons/Paramount are real Trump lackeys, but I just don't believe they had anything to do with BTG avoiding Juneteenth.

Nicole is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I find her very shrill and irritating.

Nicole was doing the most today and it was annoying. All that yelling the hospital was unbecoming for a doctor.
