BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread

Even after she knew Eva was Nicole’s assistant and had access to her office, she continued to be rude to her - based on nothing but her feelings at that point. Yes, she was right in the end, but all she was going off was an unproven vibe at that point. She was determined to prove she was right about Eva from the very first encounter based on little evidence or facts. Again, she was right about her, but being right always felt written as her main determination.

Her first reaction is an elitist mindset, unless those folks have proven themselves to her like Mona. As mentioned, she also displayed similar elitist energy towards June as well. Granted, I don’t know if any of this is intentional on the part of the writers, but I have clocked her as elitist from the very start.

The show definitely plays it too safe quite often, which I think can be detrimental to both stories and characters.

bc she knew Eva was full of sht. A year + later we have the foresight of knowing that she was right so I have no qualms about how she was with Eva back then. The girl was actively trying to destroy her parent's marriage and betrayed her mother in such a vile way on behalf of her own attempted murderess mother. The smoke Kat had for her was justified. She knew what she knew; she just didnt have proof

Yes she was rude to June at first but I also think there is more context here. Kat is not trustworthy of outsiders infilitrating the family and thats what June was when they first met. One of ther easons she was so hard on Eva was bc of Hayley and how the Duprees opened their arms to this girl hard on her luck only to have her backstab Dani and she watched how that destroyed Chelsea. Nicole opens up herself to Eva who ends up doing something similar. Then June omes into the picture very soon after and I think the initial thought was she could do something similar to Martin and the kids. She was a homeless drug addict with mental issues. Smitty also had issues with her at first. That was dropped very quickly but I get it. She's watched too many examples of her family being too trusting to outsiders only to get burned. Thats not merely rooted in elitism, but more so actual trauma of living through that and seeing how its impacted her loved ones

The writers used Kat's elitism as the device for her to not be believed about Eva. When she said Eva was sneaky it was followed up with a comment about Eva's clothes or something else. The writers have given Kat a better side when it comes to Eva before the transplant. She was about to make a peace offering, but Eva threw that away by sleeping with Tomas.

The fact is that the Kat/Eva audience investment online over the last year already rivals the Jasam/Liason wars at GH BITD. (Those people still ain't over it and Sam is dead as hell.) The engagement is good news for the show overall, but fans are very intense about it and have been basically from the jump. They either love one or hate the other.

I like both sisters, and I like Kat a lot though she's definitely not perfect or blameless. I also like Eva. That being said they've wanted to clumsily straddle the fence with Eva for a long while now. She'll act sad and mope about her lot in life and then turn around and greenlight anything Mawmawww wants to do, or at least not put up much of a fuss over any of it. The show seems to want to avoid getting her too dirty because of her downtrodden status but her kid gloves treatment of Leslie consistently irritates me. I'm over another round of lectures to Kat about poor Eva when Eva doesn't really lift a finger to handle or check her mother in any meaningful way. And I say that as someone who has little problem with Leslie on the show, beyond wanting her to get got for Laura. Which Kat should make happen, and which could reignite the sisters' feud.

The kids TV-level treatment of Eva and Izaiah's romance is also tedious. This should be a hot, volatile couple but Izaiah is softer than Charmin and all they do is sit around talking about how they sure do love each a lot! Izaiah should've gone to model for Dani or ChelseaKat like they toyed with awhile ago, putting him in Kat's orbit. He could easily be a worthy man they fight over with a little more edge to him. Or you can bring on someone else down the road and let Kat play the field with someone new or an entanglement with Jacob. But the lovey-dovey stuff with Izaiah/Eva speaks to a lot of the sanitizing the show consistently does re: many of the core characters, and I continue to seriously doubt that was MVJ's choice. I think they're serving several parties BTS.

It was a real mistake not to let Bill run against Martin in this primary. That could've been a great story, or introducing a young rival for Martin (or rival staffer) who Kat or Eva could've gotten involved with. I'd say you could at the very least introduce an opponent but there is no way the BTG audience is going to get behind what would be a GOP-coded candidate lol. Maybe thread the needle and say someone jumped in as an independent?

I didn't find that yesterday's episode said anything new about Kat's thoughts or feelings. It was a typical after-school special type of dream/nightmare.

I mean, "hurts, don't it?" isn't quite the flex they wanted it to be. I like Eva, but at least 50% of Kat's attitude towards her is earned. (And lest we forget, she was not the only Dupree wanting to keep Eva away---Anita was right there with "this does not make you a Dupree" when it all hit the fan.)

What I don't understand is BTG messing with the one compelling through line it had---two sisters who don't like each other stepping on each other's toes. I don't need Kat and Eva playing nice. They really haven't had big enough battles going on, IMO.

I'm curious about that screenshot, too. I don't remember seeing it. Those spelling errors are pathetic, regardless.

-- As far as Kat and Eva, I guess I'm guilty of confirmation bias, because the posts I see here defending Kat have me nodding my head.

-- Leslie has done some awful things, and Eva has rolled with all of it. I agree with @P.J. about the sisterly feud. They're crazy if they end it.

-- I also agree with @Vee about the Eva and Izaiah relationship. There's just very little there.

Damn, Kat and Eva's conversation is going to keep me in tears! Loving this so far.

Tomas can screw off, ugh.

Leslie back to her old self, being delusional albeit trying to be nice (try being the key word, delusionally) haha.

I was curious as to who wrote today's episode, specifically the Eva and Kat scenes. I loved it. Finally, and I do mean that this was a long time coming, both got a POV. There was nuance, understanding, and some lingering resentments but they heard each other. I don't know why the show took such a tortured way to get us to this point but I'll take it.

Ambry and Colby (who continues to be the MVP of the younger set) came through. I hope they both submit these scenes.

The scenes were so well done. Eva's tears and her admitting that she had gaslighted Kat this entire time allowed me to like the character again. She doesn't need to be perfect to have a place on the canvas.

Eva and Kat make me feel, and Chelsea just doesn't. She and Tomas can both go.

Isaiah does absolutely nothing for me. He's a fake bad boy who the show keeps telling us is no good.

original release date: Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (#315) | writers: Sara A. Bibel, Judy Tate | director: Steven Williford

Thoughts:

  • I mean, even though it was a liver transplant, it was still a surgery post-accident caused by a heart attack.

  • I hate to say it: Vernon is right. I do not think pushing one's own appointment back is the right decision, regardless of the reasons Anita is giving.

  • Not Bill letting Dani's name slip out right in front of Naomi. Not a good thing. At all.

  • Not Andre and Dani roleplaying as Gomez and Morticia Addams. I appreciate their exploration, but I do not see either of them fitting into those roles.

  • Dana just walking around with a roll of money in her purse and then demanding everyone from Eva's team be paged at the drop of a hat. 🤣 Looks like her moment of respite is over and done with.

  • Tomas is going to propose?! Nothing like a life-altering experience to help you make some life-altering decisions.

  • Well, look who decided to visit Eva! Hello Katherine.

  • Surely, by pushing your appointment back by a few days, you risk more surprise than you could actually want. I get her fear. It is real.

  • This is growth with Eva and Katherine... it is just disappointing that it took this whole situation for it to happen. If only they could have sat down and had this honest conversation. And look at them connecting with each other. They are bonded in new ways right now.

  • Andre... you just got a workout in with Dani... and you want to go to a gym?!

  • Tomas, you barely ate that yummy-looking breakfast! I would need that before going to Bill.

  • Even if they are not going to be sisters, at least they have found some common ground with each other, and that is more progress than anyone could have ever guessed.

  • The ongoing d*ck measuring going on between Andre and Bill is laughable and toxic. But I do not expect anything less from them.

  • Madison's dramatisation of a proposal was hilarious and that whole interaction was definitely natural and how things would happen.

  • Katherine telling Dana she will collect her debt felt like an honest promise of a threat, and I do not blame her.

Notes:

  • Bibel and Tate did exceptionally well being paired. There was some solid flow to today's episode, and the dialogue was pretty solid across the board. Nothing to shout home about, but not every day needs to be that. Some solid character growth, though.

So agree! Those scenes today were SO good and the ladies really nailed it with their acting. I was so drawn in emotionally.

I'm curious to see how they interact after they're both out of the hospital and recovered.

Looks like our "Newcommer" opponent was Emily Carter (if I'm reading that tiny print right). Glad she frightened our "Incumbant" Richardson, but I wish we'd heard and seen a little more about it. (Interesting stuff last night in the real world between Brad Lander & Dan Goldman; wish BTG would've "previewed" a primary like there where the incumbent was in serious danger of losing his seat at a fairly young age.)

Eva and Kat's scenes today were great. So nice to see them just talk without all the snark and arguing. I don't think the show will end the feud for too long. It's gold. I could see Kat letting her guard down with Eva for a bit and then Eva will do something that sends Kat (deservedly so) reeling again. I see them as the Jessica and Natalie of OLTL. It could play for years.

Tomas is just a big eyeroll. Not only do I not feel any emotion from him when he says he wants to marry Kat, but Chelsea's point of pressuring Kat again about something so consequential is kind of spot on. Give Kat a break and comfort her.

Can't wait to see what Kat will want in return from Leslie! Admit what she did to Laura? It's a great set-up.
