Y&R: March 2026 Discussion Thread

It's lazy writing. The original story was ok, and a good intro to Mark Grossman as Adam.

The problem is that Josh Griffith revisits these stories and does nothing with them. There's promise in the idea of a revisit, but then the execution is awful.

I struggle to think of a single throwback to history that paid off under JG.

-- So no one on Victor's crime payroll called him to let him know about Jack and Patty?

-- Meanwhile, Victor sends a private text and that's enough for Phyllis to believe his word?

-- Meanwhile, part 2, Nikki and Diane have garbage husbands and they decide to leave their homes???

Lauren is giving MAGA face.

This non story about Lauren going to work at Newman...just filler.

Nick/Adam's hotel room looks very familiar.

OMG there were double the amount of extras at CL -2 instead of 1.

So Diane goes from frantic about Jack to walking out b/c she saw him with Patty. He was obviously drugged and the whole situation was so bizarre but she's quick to judge-which is laughable as she was forgiven for faking her own death.

And if they were SMART which we all knew they arenโ€™t Jack would throw that in her face hell the whole family should. Anybody could. And in the end it is karma from all them years ago.

I won't be missing Y&R during the March Madness break.

Neither will I.

-- Phyllis has renamed Newman Enterprises "Summers Conglomerate"? I mean, who does that? All they've done on this show is play musical chairs with CEOs of businesses, and now they're changing names.

-- Phyllis STOLE the company. She did nothing to earn anything. Now she gave away Chancellor for nothing -- without even checking on what Victor did. The lame writing makes Phyllis look even dumber.

-- Nick says he's going to walk the streets of Vegas to ask around about Riza and Matt Clark? What the actual fcuk.

-- Sienna looks a lot older than Sharon. Good job, Noah.

-- Sienna is supposed to be smart and perceptive and strong, yet she or up with Matt making trips all the time to Vegas, apparently never seeing boundaries with her husband.

-- Lauren as Phyllis' partner in running Newman? I can't take anything on this show seriously.

For a show called The Young and the Restless, there has long been a distinct lack of "young." I think soaps work the best where there are characters of every generation in stories, but on this show, if I had to guess, I bet 60% of the cast is over 50. They couldn't even give Noah a love interest his age, but instead cast someone who played HIS MOM on another show. Make it make sense.

That does make me laugh that the show decided the best love interest for nuNoah would be pairing him with the woman who played his mom for years.

I decided to watch one of the most recent episodes. I would love to know why Nikki has been putting up with Victorโ€™s direct toxicity towards not only her but the like straight up evil Sh.it he has done and continues to do to her best friend. Like is she really so afraid what might happen if she meets you know a nice guy thatโ€™s not a narcissistic old evil prick?

This constant focus on ridiculous business stories has been going on for years and only getting worse.

Like you just take over a company, change the name and sit in your office.

It's awful.

No hostile staff to deal with, reporters to answer to etc. Nothing remotely realistic or interesting.

It's just there to give worn out characters something to do as most of them have no romantic options left.

And the show steadfastly refuses to introduce the next generation.

That and having psychos torment the rest of the cast.

JG can't be this bad, can he? Is it possible that he is mandated to keep things as "safe" as possible thus no real stories and an eternal holding pattern while ratings are (sadly) sustained? Either way, Y&R viewers are screwed.

Yes, JG is that bad. I can assume he has a mandate of some sorts from our lovely executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent, but JG has proven track record of writing dark depressing and boring [!@#$%^&*] across multiple shows for the last 30 years (ATWT, Y&R, Days, Y&R again). He also has an ego that makes him think this is โ€œgeniusโ€ writing.
