When her new marriage fails, she’ll have no one to blame. This obsession with this man that only decided he gave a f.uck about her because their kid got kidnapped, is literally the worst thing about her character.

• Anita is glowing with her "I woke up like this" look, and that dressing kaftan is stunning on her. I love this.

• Hayley, you are bottom-line scum. Nothing but a loose ho who thinks her con is going to work. Nasty behaviour, but I expect nothing less from gutter trash.

• Oh, Hi Derek. Good thing you ditched the cane. Last thing you need is a weapon as dull as you are.

• Aw, love seeing how glowing Ashley is with Grayson. And love seeing Naomi and Shanice supporting her and wanting to know the details!

• YAS ASHELY! Have that strawberry sorbet instead of your regular mint chocolate chip! You have earned that.

• Derek, you did NOT take a bite out of that nacho and put it BACK on the main platter. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. No etiquette.

• Love seeing Anita do things with Katherine and Samantha. Helps her keep her mind on other things outside of cancer and chemotherapy.

• I love seeing Eva and Ted's relationship as daughter and father continue to grow and evolve. So beautiful!

• Jacob, backpedalling on the topic of children is you being ridiculous; you should have expressed this before you married Naomi.

• Of course the spoilt, self-centred bitch would take Eva's kind gesture and make it nasty. How rude. She truly is lower than low.

• That is right, Derek: look at Ashley's upgrade. She has fully gone from dud to STUD!

Notes:

• Dunn and Tate did an outstanding job with today's script. It was concise, had depth and was a wonder to see played out.

• Day two and yes, Jen Jacob (Ashley) and Jordi Vilasuso (Grayson) spark with chemistry. This is a WIN, both in terms of the latter's casting and also for both characters.

• Jasmine Burke (June) must be changing her hair up again, based on how she is styled in today's episode.

The upside is that people are actually talking about Ashley now LOL

As someone that understands old school traditional soap opera 101, I think MVJ was trying to show with Ashley someone that was a latchkey kid that spent most of her time alone because her single mother was working constantly. So she didn't get exposure to other peers nor had the benefit of having a healthy male role model for her to look up to.

So when she became a young adult, she decided to become a nurse because she wanted to help people and also decided that Derek was someone that she should settle with. Because she never really dated much pre-Derek nor had many friends growing up.. she came across a bit awkward and Mary Sue.

Now that she's been working as a nurse for several months, had the brief dating situation with Andre, and realized Derek wasn't her end game long after Andre moved, she's become a bit more mature and has her priorities straight. Hence this sudden glow up that we're seeing with Ashley and her suddenly being more forward with this new guy.

MVJ and co seem to be operating more on the show and not telling aspect with Ashley so I'm only guessing on the thought process with this character over the past 200+ episodes.

"New day, new Ashley"?

Very cute, writers, but so far this is just more of the same -- Ashley wanting some guy. She's now on her THIRD man in a year, getting stars in er eyes after one "date."

Is that all this character is? One who moves from guy to guy to guy? I guess all Ashley's dreams about international travel are over, now that she's falling for a lab tech.

I like Jordi -- so easy on the eyes -- but we do not need another laid back, mellow guy with no energy. Carlton's already failing at that.
