Erica always accused Brooke of going after her leftovers.

It started with them competing for Tom Cudahey's affections. He eventually marries Erica first, and Brooke, years later, the show continued the tradition with Adam Chandler and Jack Montgomery. Brooke also dated Erica's brother, Mark Dalton. There were deeper undercurrents, though Erica was striving to be Queen of Pine Valley, just like Phoebe English Wallingford. Brooke English, a member of the founding family, poses a threat to that title; her lineage gives her privilege and power. She is also a respected journalist and editor, well-liked by the community, with genuine friends. This juxtaposed with Erica's entrepreneurial rise, pure genius.

Erica always felt threatened by any woman who challenged her ability to entice men sexually: Brooke, Natalie, Barbara, Maria, even Tara and Claudette. I think that's because, in her mind, all she really had to offer was her so-called feminine wiles. Without those, what good was she to the world?

In a perfect world, that younger rival would've been either Nina or Mac, with Nina getting the edge since Tricia Cast could throw down with the best of 'em.

Y&R Katherine vs Jill, Lauren vs Sheila, Diane vs Nikki & Victor/Jack & Phyliss

OLTL Viki vs Dorian

B&B Stephanie vs Brooke, Stephanie vs Sheila, Lauren vs Sheila

ATWT: Kim vs Susan

I'm trying to think of iconic GH rivalries outside of Luke versus Scott, Tracy vs Monica. Sonny v Jax I don't consider that iconic. Though they were husband and wife, Alan vs Monica was great tv.

What about Bobbie v. Lucy?

I need to see more of that. I don't hear it talked about that much in iconic status.

I was just about to post Bobbie vs. Lucy. It fizzled out after the mid-'90s, but there was the potential for those two to have a long-runner.

Bobbie was mad at Lucy for being Kevin's mistress, then for profiting off the Brownstone murders and causing Terry angst. After that, Bobbie was mad about Lucy getting pregnant from Jake, then marrying and being an unworthy wife to Tony. Damien's affair with Bobbie was because Lucy chose her for him.

I can't remember the names of the ladies, but there was a riveting, ugly story on the South African "soapie" Generations about two women who worked at a company - one of them was a former prostitute and madame who'd worked her way in, while the other was the sister of the CEO. There were class issues which fueled resentment between them, but the ex-hooker mostly just wanted power. She found out dirt on the sister and began blackmailing her to give her more control over the company, little by little.

There was one scene where the ex-hooker was going to back down, as she felt guilty, but the sister spewed so much bile at her about her past and being worthless that she changed her mind and only increased her demands.

The story concluded right before some big board meeting where the ex-hooker would have had her big moment of taking the company. The sister shot her to death, and, after apologizing to her shocked brother, jumped off the balcony in shame.

Y & R: Jill vs Kay... but I also loved Jill vs Nina (anytime Jill would show up at Nina's door.. I knew a verbal ping pong match would commence).

ATWT: Susan vs Kim, Lisa vs Lucinda

Days: Kristen (Eileen) vs Marlena, Julie vs Susan (from the past),

Coronation Street: Eileen vs Gail

Well, that's one way to end a feud, lol.
