I definitely feel everything post-anniversary story for the SilkPress storyline has been oddly paced. Before that, it was the best paced really. But now even I am sitting here wondering if Jacob is going to get that test done. Or when they are going to remember that Shanice can verify that SilkPress was Lulu. I thought that the test taking time would have been their clever and realistic way to stall the story at first, but then it abruptly stopped to focus on SilkPress just being a cartoon instead and I started to side-eye a little bit. Definitely feels like an attempt to keep the actress rather than story flow.

The thing is that the show had an out for keeping the Laura element on the back burner because Jacob had mentioned that they couldn't identify the motorcycle nor the driver and video wasn't working/missing.

At the time, I assumed that the writers were keeping that in the background while other elements in the plot were playing out (i.e. Kat/Tomas/Eva, Eva/Ted building a father and daughter relationship, Eva and Nicole trying to navigate the awkwardness, Silk Press Sheila and Nicole building up their feud, etc).   Playing up the Laura element and then dropping it was not a good plan because it made almost all the players look stupid.

Still not here for Dani/Andre/Ashley, buuuuut it does have firmer legs now. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh not Ashley FINALLY finding out Dani is the OTHER woman.

I was expecting a Derek/Andre confrontation today but there wasn't.

When Ashley saw Andre/Dani, I'm like "oh snap, some s--- is about to go down".

Are we going to get Andre/Dani breakup next week?

-- I do not want to see Jan chasing Derek. Anyone mentioning that should please rethink it.

-- Derek's plea to Ashley was nicely done. Very genuine, and for him, even poetic. I thought Ashley responded as her usual middle schooler -- selfish and self-absorbed, barely listening to Derek's heart or what it took her him to AGAIN go to her. I hope he dumps her basic ass for good.

-- Ben Gavin continues to improve. Jen Jacob continues playing to the lousy dialogue they give her.

-- I have no idea what's going on with the Hayley story. Like so many here, I needed motivation for what Hayley has done.

-- Kill me now if Naomi is as dumb as they're making her seem today -- believing Hayley's stories and lies. There'd better be a twist, because we're getting multiple stories with Naomi seeming clueless.

-- Vanessa has to be playing both Doug and Joey. Still, I want to gag when I think of her bedding down with Joey and telling him she wants him more than she wants Doug. Does she have to be a whore to get her way?

-- Is Kenny the racist really dead? Or do we spare Jacob's dad by one day showing that he's still alive? I can't trust this show yet to believe that dead means dead.

-- The previews showed me that we're getting more lousy acting next week from Tomas, who apparently can't salsa dance with Kat but will be much better at it with Eva. How much you wanna bet he looks laughably awkward with both of them?

-- SOOOOO many of us are talking about pacing, and about stories that are dropped for multiple weeks and then picked up again -- with a flattening of momentum in between. I think this is a problem when it's done with almost every story. I think it's planned and I think it's intentional, but I'm not sure it works as often as Gates does it.

I hate that its a dangling plotline. They should have just had Leslie arrested for Laura's accident but she gets of on a technicality bc Kat tampered with the evidence. Jacob is in a dilemma bc proceeding with charges against Leslie means that he'd also have to arrest Kat for theft, breaking and entering and tampering with evidence. That puts him at a stalemate with Leslie and he ultimately decides to drop it to protect Kat who has to live with knowing that she is the reason Leslie is free

Derek is behaving like a doormat for Ashley. He was dumb for following Jan's advice and he should let Ashley go.

Did Hayley actually get pregnant after the fake sonogram and then lose the baby because of the fall? Then again, shady Randy's involvement implies that she is lying about everything. Not sure what direction this is going in, but Dani being gaslit into blaming herself for something that didn't happen would be an interesting story.

For fun and dramatics, I say the writers should allow Jacob to be the winner, for now at least, by punishing Leslie AND old man Vernon and his crew. Put them ALL (minus Joey for more dramatic effect) in orange jumpsuits. Elon (at least temporarily) should lose his job as Chief of Police causing a huge rift between him and Jacob. Let's watch all of these characters ON SCREEN navigating the jail scene and all of the shenanigans that go with it. I mean, in past soap history, we had some of the biggest daytime soap characters like the infamous Erica Kane, Dorian Lord, Tina Lord, etc. all serve time in prison, and we saw it all play out ON SCREEN. No one was written off of those shows. And it was fun to watch these women navigating prison life. THE WRITING PLEASE! It ain't that hard BTG.

I had to roll my eyes at Hayley’s recounting of the events. She got that scare then she refused the sonogram then she faked the sonogram, then she tripped and fell, then she lashed out at Dani with blood on her hands, then she rushed to the hospital (?) and rushed to her sofa as rapidly. Sorry, this is TOO CONVOLUTED for words. What are the writers smoking? This is not the way you plot a story.

The only, and I mean only, reason we had to see an hour of Dani the Introspective Girl with "Feelings" is to set it up so that she actually has a reason to be upset about Hayley's pregnancy lies (whatever they may be). She hasn't given a sht about Hayley's well-being at all since Day 1, but suddenly she's wringing her hands and pacing back and forth, claiming she's the most awful human being alive. Without that, whether Hayley's pregnancy is fake or not is really none of her business and has no bearing on her life. What a transparent turn of events.

It wasn't like Dani and Hayley got into some huge fight. Dani could feel bad about her losing the baby w/o the OTT guilt trip.

At this point the Hayley story is a miss. A pity b/c the potential was there w/o Hayley being so foolish. Bill had been totally supportive and Hayley got her man. We got very little about how she was adjusting to married life. Suddenly she's faking a pregnancy FOR NO REASON.

Moving on...

BTG made a big to do about having 27 regular sets- I can get to around 20. Does that mean there are another 7 or so waiting to be used? Or what?

I think the show could benefit from extra sets.

This past week has been so good on so many levels. One thing I feel this show is doing better than the others is mixing the characters up in each other's stories. Pulling Randy into Hayley and Doug/Vanessa's stories, Shanice in Bill's orbit for PT and then Derek/Ashley's mess, the group involved in Martin's secret, for examples. So tired of the other shows where maybe only 5 or 6 characters interact together for a couple months at a time.

I'd love to see Randy and Doug try to take down Joey behind Vanessa's back. Of course it will end badly, but it can bring some needed drama to this money laundering mess (which I find boring). As I've said before, I'm not a fan of Vanessa being all "gansta wannabe". It's laughable to me that she thinks she can play in that league.

I don't get Dani suddenly being grief stricken like it was her fault. Makes no sense. Just because she saw blood she now has completely changed her mind on the hard stance the pregnancy was fake? Doesn't seem like Dani's character. She goes all in.

The Elon/Jacob dynamic is so good! I hope they explore it more. The Hawthorne's seem a bit messed up. lol.

Two things that would give this show some spice for me: Derek/Jan and Elon/Leslie. Derek and Jan hit the sheets for one, regretted, interaction and then try to hide it till Ashley suspects too much and they confess. Leslie, to try and get out of all her potential legal trouble, figures out Elon isn't the best of cops and begins flirting with him so he insists Jacob drop his investigation toward Leslie, much to Jacob's dismay. Causing more rift between father and son.

Can't wait to find out who is at Leslie's door and if June being the mother of Tyrell and Samantha unites Smitty/Martin to keep a hold of their kids.

To be fair to her, as far as she knows the pregnancy was confirmed to be real the last time she took her to the hospital. She kinda dropped the fake angle after that and seeing all that blood made it even more real to her. The grief makes sense especially since she likely knows Bill will blame her. She strives for his acceptance so knowing that this could turn him all the way against her is something that would be devastating

I agree. Seeing Dani this distraught over Hayley's baby is just ridiculous, and it makes no sense. Of course, I'm also bothered by how dumb Naomi is with all this.

God, no. I have no idea why anyone wants to see this. Derek is a character who's had a hill to climb after being written as an absolute moron, and now you want him to bed the mother of his former girlfriend? Huh?

It would be an absolute joke to put Derek and Jan together -- even for one screw.
