This is starting to make me wonder what Ron had planned for him.

I don't know.  Maybe a Sophia/Tate/Holly/Doug quad?  Rachel Boyd as Sophia is such a disaster that maybe they scrapped the whole idea.   That's not Peyton or Doug's fault, but I suppose they just wanted to cut their losses when Ron left since they weren't inspired by the character.

It would make sense to cull the teen scene and leave Holly/Tate as endgame and create or recast characters that work a bit better.

Aren't they still using material written by Carlivati? Why do I recall something being said about September being the proper kick-off to their original stories?

I never said that. Ever. You recall incorrectly.

I wasn't implying you said that.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that when their material started airing that it would initially be to clean up the former head writer's material, with their original stories kicking off in September. Clearly, I misread or misremembered, cause I can't source it at the moment.

I do remember some claim that they were still going to be working with Ron's outlines for a while.

And, the thing is, besides being a descendant, OG Doug was a con man & a grifter, so Doug³ as a thief for sure, maybe grifter, too, not sure, but, ... there's just such obvious, character-usable symmetry, isn't there? It's hard not to feel opportunity was wasted.

What is currently airing now is *not* using anything *written* or *outlined* by Ron.  If they were, Ron would be credited in the closing credits, and he's not.

An actor or actors mentioned at an event (or events) that storylines would be continuing, but it was expressed unclearly, so an inadvertently inaccurate impression was given.

I believe the actor(s) intended to convey that Cwikly/Ford would be continuing and wrapping up storylines that Ron had already set in motion and that might take a few months, but still, it's all Cwikly-Ford's writing since April 24 episode.

For example:  EJ's shooting was already a storyline before Ron left, so  Cwikly/Ford are playing that out for however long.  EJ/Belle was already happening before Ron left, so Cwikly/Ford are playing that out for however long.  And several other storylines.  Etc., etc.
And also Cwikly/Ford said in their April interview "Gwen’s return was in the works before we were hired."

So basically the only *new* story arcs that Cwikly/Ford have written that have aired so far, are John Black's death and funeral and the events surrounding that  (which included Bope and Pandrew).

Now what's airing is what the playing out of all the storylines that were started before Ron left, plus Emily O'Brien's return. -- but all written by Cwikly/Ford with their take on things.  Nothing airing since April 24 was written or outlined by Ron.

I think that's why the actor(s) at the event(s) said Cwikly/Ford's new ideas will start airing in the autumn.

Sorry. My bad. I misunderstood. I wish Ron was still writing the show, but yes it was claimed on here  that the show would still be using his outlines for a long time, which is ludicrous.

No, I remember it too. I don't recall who said it, but they're using Ron's outlines though I assume they're changing some things up and writing out some characters they're not interested in. I assume the "Who shot EJ" storyline is the main one they're keeping to Ron's outline since everything for it was planted while he was still there.

I think you're misinterpreting what they mean with outlines - stuff like the "Who shot EJ" storyline would've been discussed in the writers room considering they dropped clues and such before Ron left. Same thing with Gwen's return - likely she's tied to the hospital funding plot (I don't know this for sure, so it's not a spoiler) and if that's the case it was probably discussed before Ron left.

So yes, they're probably using ideas and "outlines" that were put into motion before Ron left. That he's not being credited doesn't mean they're not staying true to the projected resolutions, though they're likely setting things up for their own storylines (hence certain characters just leaving that I'm sure wouldn't have left if Ron was still there).

I was liking the buildup to Johnny's trial today. It didn't feel rushed and I felt the acting was pretty good too. And the writing for Johnny and Chanel was really strong as well. I love how they've been there for each other through this whole mess. I also wouldn't mind them starting their own investigation into who shot EJ either.

I expected Marlena's hypnosis on EJ to not work lol but I don't mind it. Days is allowing this storyline to build up to the big reveal and I'm looking forward to that. Plus, it's always good to see Marlena be used so effectively, like she has been for a while now. As for her fainting today, I hope she turns out to be ok, and that's there more to this storyline than what we saw in the spoiler promo.

And I do like the messiness of the whole EJ/Belle situation too. I hope it leads to something really good happening, especially in the aftermath of the trial.

Gwen was, once again, not necessary though. She didn't need to have scenes with Brady and Rachel. But it was good to see Brady continue to act like a father. Again, almost like John lol. He's done really well in these past few episodes, with Tate and now with Rachel. Btw, as obvious as they're making what we've all been suspecting about Rachel now, maybe there's a twist coming lol

And, it's too bad about Theo and Claire. I wonder if that's going to mean something somewhere down the line.

I had to laugh that Belle took the time to call Brady instead of 911 when Marlena collapsed.

Maybe the show is bringing Theo back?  I can't imagine any reason for them to mention Claire/Theo breaking up after Abe talked about them getting married on John's deathbed.  Theo makes more sense than Claire in my mind because I recall Chanel dated Theo before she appeared on the show.

The Gwen scenes were out of order or something?  She arrives at the mansion with her luggage, talks to Brady and Rachel, then the last scene is her packing up the same luggage and finding the necklace missing.  That was strange.

In one of her scenes with Brady she mentioned having to go back to the hotel for the rest of her things.

Oh thanks!  I must have missed that.
