Interesting. Could the total viewer concerns be related to The Drew Barrymore Show's ratings? The show (owned by CBS) airs after BTG in many markets. I Googled its ratings and a bunch of articles touting its numbers popped up for this season, but they were all dated prior to BTG's debut. Even though The Talk had lower numbers, it was obviously a more compatible lead-in. FWIW, that show is in repeats next week too.

Nothing relating to The Drew Barrymore Show, which primarily airs in the mornings on the CBS Owned Stations. The talk show has been airing reruns since mid-to-late May and won't return with originals until September.

Ratings for Drew and most syndicated shows stopped being freely accessible when TV News Check stopped publishing them last year. The numbers you might be referring to are likely from the rarely sent out press releases from the show, primarily touting its social media viewership over actual viewers on TV.

Drew generally averages about 900,000 viewers, which, in the end, isn't that much. At its worst, The Talk was still the third most watched among daytime network and syndicated talk shows.

I think the Leslie reveal at Ted and Nicole’s anniversary was significantly better than the first week of the show. I genuinely have no interest in going back to that overly bright Dani is a fool and mess time. She still hasn’t grown but the idea of looking back at where she used to be is not fun to me. I’d only watch to see OG Ted.

Yeah the Leslie reveal at Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party is definitely the best week of episodes this show has had IMO.

Of course, as Errol has perfectly outlined, this is all speculation but on the ratings standpoint, lets say CBS is not pleased, I do wonder what they have in mind to change that. It's not uncommon for a soap to start out low in the ratings and gradually build overtime so I could see them increasing their ratings but I'm curious what types of changes they'll make for that to happen.

Unlike most new soaps, we've seen very little change to the cast. We've had one recast and of course Madison and Carlton are new characters but I'm not sure how much they'll use either. I do think both would be good to keep long term, especially Carlton. What I think they really need is a splashy new character they can spin a promo campaign around. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Victoria Rowell--in a meaningful, contract role. Attach her to someone and create a secondary family to rival the Duprees.

This has saved so many soaps in the past and I'm sure BTG will get there one way or another. I can't wait until we get to the point where we can see what changes they make to improve viewership. Knowing they're filming November sweeps, I hope they have something big planned.

I've heard that said a few times before, but do we have any evidence of that post-BB? I know since there's been Generations, The City, PC, Sunset Beach, and Passions. While I don't know their numbers well, I don't think any of those were able to increase their numbers over time. They kinda just remained stagnant for a while and then dropped.

Yes, I'd love to see an actual plan. I truly cannot see how breaking the momentum and airing a week of repeats is going to do anything to improve the ratings, especially since it's last minute with zero warning. Those early episodes can be watched online anyway and those five episodes are not the best BTG has to present. There were a lot of growing pains in the directing and acting that first week.

Among my soap watching friends I'm seeing two trends. People either are very engaged and watching daily or they've fallen way behind and are finding it a slog to get back to (which I keep telling them will be worth their while!). A week of catch up/clip episodes would have made so much more sense, because yeah, there were some boring periods that people may want to just skip over and catch up on what was important.

I don't know how behind Passions was, but I don't think we've ever had a new soap in a climate like this, where they are months and months ahead, unable to make changes midstream. Ted was recast before the premiere even aired.

They definitely need their Katherine Chancellor/Sally Spectra. I feel like they kind of wasted the Articulettes reunion. The scenes of Anita reading the letter were amazing, but it didn't really work out having them briefly reunite right before Tunie went on leave. That didn't shake up the canvas as much as it could have, although I'm sure they will get back to it.

It's so hard to say because of all the different time periods but with the exception of Days, I feel you could argue all the current soaps took time before they became hits. Launching a soap post-B&B has been very difficult so BTG not being a breakout hit (as far as we know since we don't know streaming numbers) shouldn't be a surprise if we're being realistic. I'd argue you could consider Passions and Port Charles success stories, especially Passions which had a unique fanbase that still talks about the show.

With Port Charles and The City, they were in a timeslot with clearance issues so I don't know that either had a true opportunity for real success and Sunset Beach wasn't a good show.

It's hard to really say what CBS is looking for or what it expected from a new soap opera in 2025. I just checked and the total viewers numbers aren't horrible, but obviously lagging behind the other 3 broadcast soaps. The demos are better than GH which is a win IMO. We also have very little info on how these soaps perform on streaming and whether or not that even matters to CBS.

I don't think a week of repeats is some sign of trouble. CBS renewed BTG with their current numbers so they know what they're working with. I honestly think it had to do with budgets and contracts.

It’s funny they should rerun the first week as if it helped introduce new viewers to the show when in fact that first batch of episodes was so exposition-heavy and IMHO ill-conceived that it was almost like starting a soap midway 😂

I agree. I'm sure whatever the reason would make sense and probably be simple had they said something.

Episode #100 will now air Tuesday June 29 (if there are no further repeats, delays, disruptions, or preemptions).
*** Edit, typo. I meant Tuesday July 29.

That will give us 11 episodes (two weeks plus one day)
after the current break before Episode #100.
I wonder if that will be the Martin reveal?

When I watch online, I do it through the cbs.com site. Would that be included with Paramount+? I'm not sure how it works, but are cbs.com and paramount+ separate? Would that lower P+'s numbers/ranking for the show?

(Sorry for my ignorance)

I don't think CBS viewing would be included in Paramount Plus ratings but both are valuable I'm sure.

I'm thinking, maybe....just maybe...that it has some to do with P+ rankings for the soaps not reaching the top. It splits viewers with cbs.com. Who knows? I'm just making excuses. lol
