I decided to jump into this week to try and get ready for this story because of the actor who is supposedly playing Dumas.

This is going to be SUCH a letdown. Every other word out of every characters mouth is Dumas. So what’s he’s going to come to GC and run things from his Athletic Club bedroom line Tucker did? Threaten people at crimson lights?

I usually hate when important characters are recasted too many times (ahem Adam) but I’d really be fully okay with Abby being recasted. It’s really a shame that such a vital role on Y&R is being wasted on MO. She just doesn’t have the kind of range I would like to see out of this role. I totally get Abby is supposed to be a ditz and a spoiled brat but I KNOW another actress could play that so much better. 

Emme Rylan did such a better job playing Abby but the issue with her is that actress was way too old.

Melissa Ordway and Emme Rylan are only two years apart. Orday is 44 and Rylan is 44, so if Rylan is "way too old", then so wouldn't Ordway.

Abby has been a misfire from the start. Aged up too soon, then cast with actresses that were too old.

Given awful writing and no depth of character. A character that should be leading story is now on her third lackluster marriage and recurring.

How many relationships has Abby had? I don't think the writing has been good for any of them. That character had SO much potential, and it's been continually wasted by every writing team.

I hate to complain in advance, but you're so right. We're going to get a few bucks thrown at new sets in the next couple weeks (paid for in part by even more extreme cutting the past few weeks), and then we'll be back to poor, tired Genoa City.

Dumas has been painted for MONTHS as this Elon Musk type of character with BILLIONS of dollars and unbelievable power. Now he's going to move to GC and walk into CL for his coffee, where as you said, he'll threaten people.

This is the stupidest build up I’ve ever seen on a soap with no budget. I will enjoy the new sets for a month but literally nothing has changed on the home front so it’s all pointless. I’m giving him about a week in GC before he does the usual start at GCAC, go to Crimson lights, then eat dinner at Society thee times a week.

Ive already stated multiple times I have no issue with MO as Abby, as it’s really the writing that has failed her. Like most characters on this show, every year or so she has a new love of her life and the last one means nothing. Both the Abbotts and Newmans never tell her a lick of anything going on in either family, and that comes down to writing.

I googled her name 2 days ago and it said 52 for Emme Rylan. Not sure how that happened but I stand corrected. Either way, Emme Rylan was the better choice..

What do you enjoy about MO and her acting? She’s been given so much material and hasn’t been able to give us any reason to root for Abby. I know the writing sucks but if you’re a good actor you can turn [!@#$%^&*] into gold and I just don’t see that with this actress. Sorry.

If Rylan were 52, then she looks damn good for her age. But no, she's 44, while Ordway is 42, so. And considering Amelie Heinle and Joshua Morrow are 52 and 51, respectively, at least they made both Abby actors younger than those who play her older siblings.

I think she’s perfectly fine with the material given to her and has never taken me out of a scene. It’s not like I said she deserved an Oscar. And no I don’t think a better actor could turn the shi.tty writing for Abby to gold at all.

Unpopular opinion ahead: I thought the NAKED HEIRESS stuff was at least interesting and a fresh take on the topic of troubled teen. But as Paris Hilton shows us, even such personalities grow older and boring. So maybe Josh Griffith isn’t to blame on that one… 😜

You know it's bad when Amanda, Audra, Damian AND ASHLEY are not enough of a draw to get me to sit down and watch. I'm playing catch up with BTG today and barely have a mind to do Y&R. And I still might do B&B first.

 

I've let episodes drop on both. And honestly, I don't mind.

Don't worry. You won't be alone on that. I've been complaining about the Dumas of it all since it became an unnecessary plot twist. And it turns out to be true what's behind it all, I'm sure I'll be on the warpath next week. Because that will make it even more unnecessary.
