Whenever the party and big reveal I can see the cliffhanger being in sensationalist B&B style dramatic music and audible gasps. What I'm most anxious to see is how Nicole reacts. She's the level headed one so it will be interesting to see how she processes a big bomb being dropped on her.

In the behind the scenes special Daphnee deferred her Emmy chances to Karla, but if this storyline goes well I can possibly see Daphnee being a contender next year.

Well, we've already scene the spoiled unstable sister go ballistic and lash out, so in this case Nicole should be much calmer and measured in her response. Not to say she won't be hurt and angry but she might move immediately to save her marriage and start rebuilding.

They chose to have both sisters in marriage crisis from the get go so I assume the reason is to show how they each handle the situation differently.

That would be something. Jean was so calm that it was terrifying.

Calmer is a guarantee, but trying to save the marriage immediately might be a step too calm for a story line like this. Anger can be measured and that is what I'd like to see.

Yeah, no, I actually like that Vernon and Anita aren’t Tom and Alice. I can appreciate that from a writing perspective. But I still can’t root for them—they come off as obnoxious to me, and Vernon just seems like a total doormat. That said, I love to hate them.

As for product placement, I know it’s been experimented with before, but what I’m saying is—I’ve never seen a soap consistently use it outside of a crisis period, I guess? BTG feels relatively stable, yet it’s integrating product placement, which I think is a good thing! TPTB probably used to think product placement would cheapen the show or drive viewers away, which is why they’d only pull that card in desperate times. But that’s clearly not the case.

Very. And Erika played her so well it was chilling. Also why that was my favorite of those alters.

I just don't feel that Nicole will have a reaction like Dani, but it will just as explosive.

Something I picked up during my rewatch: When Dani told Anita about how she was fired from the board, she accused Anita of already knowing. I think this was the impetus for what Anita did later by pulling the family's funding from the charity.

Anita's overreaction is an attempt to prove her love/loyalty to Dani, especially since Dani sees Vernon as the "nice" parent and Anita as the "tough" parent. Dani has probably manipulated Anita this way for a long time.

It fits in the established dynamic Dani has with her daughters, especially Chelsea, who mentioned early in the series that they have to walk on eggshells until they can assess Dani's mood.

    • Thanks! I know the Infinity story takes the heat for the lackluster of 1985, but the Charlotte Wheaton story isn't any better. Other than proving Barbara Garrick has a talent for playing mean spirited kooks. Watching Richard VanVleet is like watching paint dry.
    • They aren't all bio, but I remember DD saying he treats them as if they were. He seems like a good man.
    • I thought that might be it. Thanks.

    • Yeah.  As one of the biggest John and John/Marlena fans here I don't like this exit.  I know the circumstances were difficult and Drake apparently signed off on this.  I think him dying while killing Orpheus was the way to go.  There isn't a scenario I can imagine John not immediately running home to see Marlena before he helps Bo.  It's very difficult to watch his family wait for him and be so excited.   I am positive the aftermath will be great.  I just don't love the exit.
    • Wouldn't the plan have been to pair Denny and Steve for a Steve/Denny/Carrie triangle and try to recreate the Tess/Bill dynamic from their time at Love of Life? Or was it just a short term thing like her role on ATWT? Maybe Toni wasn't interested in contract gigs?
    • Gail was around months before. I think she was added by the Elmans, who introduced Scotty and David Hamillton, Lamont and Katie Corbin and Alan Quartemaine, all characters Marland worked with and developed. The Ellmans were only around for 6 weeks or so but introduced some major characters. Unlike other writers who come in and have mass cast changes, Marland worked with what was there.
    • I am not a big Anna/Duke fan, but that was an awful return.   IB/FH certainly are better together than Anna/Valentin though. I could care less about the tango.  I don't know why some actors are doing multiple performances anyhow lol.  I certainly don't need the Chase variety show hour. IIRC, Jonathon Jackson can sing just as well as JS or Bradford, but I guess Lucky and head nurse Liz aren't cool enough to get an invite.
    • Rebecca Hollen's last airdate seems to fall between July 4th, 1985 and July 15th. Reva tells Trish she's in love with Kyle and leaving HB on July 4th. The Lewises (minus Trish) go to Cross Creek to celebrate Billy's birthday (this year, other years it's in March) to "accept" Kyle as a Lewis the week of the 15th.
