That would be more wigs than even Dana/Leslie/Sheila/Sherry/Anna could possibly need, ever. Folks, that would be a helluva lot of wigs!

Very. Which is going to make it reeeal funny.

It's dated, especially for Black youth who would more likely use salty or mad jealous or seething or pressed.

Same.

The biggest issue the show could run into in the long run will be pacing.  Back in the day, soap operas had multiple plotlines going on at the same time and were going at different speeds.  For instance, while Story A is climaxing, story B is in the build-up to the climax, story C is being formulated.. while the characters not involved directly in those three stories are recapping, having their characters being developed, and/or planting seeds for their next story.

Now stop sounding like me. 😜

But seriously, I feel that is what they have been doing. Especially those first 2 weeks. Now it feels like they are trying to find their rhythm so they can do that (A climaxing while B is building while C is developing) more consistently. With mixed results.

And from what we were discussing briefly yesterday, there's been some foreshadowing nuggets so subtle that when they hit, it's a great moment viewer-wise to see how well plot/stories have been planned.

While I’m interested in the idea of Samantha considering a career in modeling, I think they’re missing a really good way to cause conflict for Smitty and Martin.

There could be some pretty good drama mined from the idea of Smitty supporting Samantha and her career, and Martin being against it because of what could happen to her, how it may make him look, etc., especially since Smitty mentioned that, while researching his article, he learned that some models/influencers sometimes get exploited. Plus, Martin being upset about Samantha’s modeling would make a lot sense than him being upset about Smitty going back to work, which seems to have been completely dropped.

They really should be bombarding this couple with conflict, as opposed to short plot points that just get wrapped up in a few episodes. So that when Martin’s big secret is finally revealed, all hell breaks loose.

I also think that Leslie and Eva should have a part of the episode in some capacity as well.

I know it's very current/on trend but having Samantha wanting to be a model doesn't reallysit well with me. We already have Chelsea modelling and now wanting to design purses.

I'm surprised Nicole and Ted,two college educated professionals would be happy with Kat doing whatever she does-not sure exactly what that is.

Same with Smitty/Martin all excited their daughter is walking a runway.

Not to denigrate modelling but it would be nice to see the show portraying young women as serious about careers and education and not feeding into the women are just into fashion/beauty trope.

Or am I just old fashioned?

I don't think it matters if someone is old-fashioned or not. What it is, is that this show is firmly centered in fashion & design & in being influencers & social media among a great many other things in this show so I don't see why there is a problem with some of these things when there's really a lot of things going on. The moment with Samantha was a lark as much as anything, so no, I do not think anyone should disapprove what Cat & Chelsea were trying to do that was special for Samantha.

I actually agree with a lot of this. It's not to a point where I'm mad about it... But it was really predictable and not that interesting (the Samantha stuff). I am also very distracted by the fact that she looks older than her father Smitty. Yes... This does distract me. I just don't imagine someone being a father to a person their own age. I know I'll probably get dragged for mentioning the age thing again, but do I care?

So I don't think you are old fashioned, you just see different potentials. Just like I do.

Does Pamela live out of town?

If not, she's not much of a friend to Dani.

Leslie/Dana is gonna spend that $50,000 at Wig City.

Hahahhaha. Yes. Mama's gonna invest in future blackmails.

In this day and age 50k is not enough to buy you eggs for couple of months.

I have already replied, disagreeing so I won't do it again with you.

It's pretty common for rich young heiresses/nepo babies to go into modeling in this day and age. I think it's on brand.

I didn't see your post (response to Paul) till I replied. I just read @Paul Raven's post and found similar thoughts to mine. I still don't hate what is happening (about Samantha). It's just too easy and predictable in my opinion. And girl better not get these close-ups if they want to claim she's a teen.

IA. I mean, how many of these people do you actually see going into becoming brain surgeons? They either get a cushy spot at the family business or they become something akin a influenza, DJ, model or some other low-effort crap. And why wouldn't they? Working for things are hard after all. I think it makes more sense that Samantha would be drawn to modelling - at least until she suffers the darkest aspects of it (well, perhaps not Dubai-port-a-potty dark).

I mean, sure, down the road I'd like to see some of those kids grow proper ambitions, but currently they need these characters to intersect. And we already have the idealistic civil rights lawyer.

This is completely random, but was anyone else perplexed by how much Kat was playing with Samantha's hair when they were backstage talking to Smitty and Martin? It would have been fine if it was quick, but it was so distracting that I couldn't help by fix my eyes on it and all the way thinking girl put her hair down.

Lots of boxes are checked off. Shrink, plastic surgeon, Anita & Vernon have their niches, Dani's been a fashion manager, Cat & Chelsea are going into fashion but design, Joey has gambling & money & possibly nefarious deeds, Vanessa has cornered real estate, what in the world does Pamela do? We do not know enough about this girl! I have forgotten what it is that Doug does. Is he another doctor? I admit also to not having any idea what DanaLeslieAnnaShelly does. I mean besides change wigs & personas. Who am I not thinking of?

It is the glitz and glam, and social media is definitely a proponent of that, I'd say.

Nope, I loved it. It shows comfortability.

@Contessa Donatella I think Dana/Leskie is surviving off Temp jobs.
