Members All My Shadows
I'm going round up all of my thoughts on the first week after watching Friday's episode, but I just needed to come say that Leslie is insane and I am obsessed. I love how she carries herself like a rich bitch but her house is extremely middle/working class with what looks like furniture from Big Lots. As soon as she took that helmet off, I knew I found my favorite character.

Members AbcNbc247
Now that I think about it, maybe it would have better if Martin had been Vernon and Anita’s son, instead of their grandson.

Members Contessa Donatella
GH often does win a Sweeps period, although I am reminded of one May Sweeps when GH's 2 stories were Protecting Marshall's Clarinet in a Dark Alley and Sonny & Brando Change Spark Plugs in a Classic Car.
Members te.
I'd assume it's down to CBS investing money to get the production going - so right now everything is brand-new and shiny. I mean, once some characters drop off, we get new sets I'm sure there will start being more... dodgy choices and obviously re-dressed sets because it's sort of inevitable. With that said - it obviously helps that they're in Atlanta where everything is likely cheaper. I don't think it's slow at all - we've already had the nemesis stage a car crash and move in on the family and now we have a wedding on Friday. With that said, I do think there's pros and cons with doing this in media res thing Val did - it did make it feel like we were dropping in on an on-going show on Monday. On one hand, she did a good job with making everyone feel familiar, on the other we've gotten a lot of awkward exposition dialogue. This is why a lot other shows choose to have an expository character (ie Victoria in Dark Shadows, Meg in Sunset Beach etc) to ease up that awkwardness. But these are things that will be ironed, which is the beauty of daytime really. It's the same thing as I'm sure that by the first 13 week cycle, at least some actors and characters will have fallen to the wayside.
Members NothinButAttitude
I love that it isn't the cliche black background that many soaps have adopted in their closing credits. And the theme has won me over.
Members Paul Raven
Already behind. Just finished ep3 which I found a little dull. The scene with Vanessa and Zeke and the 2 men in the car seemed out of place. Vanessa was there as a talk to and I don't think we need to delve into her story as yet. As for the 2 guys WTF? A brief scene b/w 2 new characters-not needed. I liked the outdoor sister scenes, I guess that was outside the studio? Hope they can incorporate more, provides variety. Martin's acting prowess is suspect at this stage. Of the two sisters Naomi was stronger. Dana and Mona were fine but nurse mom is bland. Andre explaining his past to people who know was forced. Maybe had it been an anniversary or a parents birthday etc it would have made the dialogue more natural. Dani's on her umpteenth costume change and evertbody else still in the same duds.
Members Maxim
The only critique I can give now... when I've re-watched (more like went through them) the first 4 episodes and eliminated the adrenaline and excitement... is that some of the newbies are underwhelming me. I've seen this comment repeated so many times and that's why I didn't want to join in... but it's the truth. Now I can agree. It really gets apparent when you re-watch and it's not a new scene for you as a viewer anymore. Especially since there is this HUGE amount of talent in this show. You can't go from a scene with Anita... to some girl who is struggling to say her lines in a natural way... and not feel off. I won't name names, because I'm not into conflicts for things like that. But hell... I'll name one - Martin. He is just not working for me AT ALL. I liked him when the show premiered, but now... I'm starting to really get an off feeling from the guy. Maybe that's intentional (probably is)... who knows... I also think he and his husband have 0 chemistry. (their scene in episode 3 proves that) These people are clearly not in love or in any type of relationship and it shows. The actors don't fit together at all. I don't like the Smitty actor either. Not my cup of tea. Boring presence. Sorry for the honesty. Once again - maybe it's intentional and I'm not seeing something that I'll see in the future. Maybe they are directed to act that way. And since I am in the gay community... these young looking... guys would never have children that age. I've been there... We are not THAT domestic and boring at that age... AND especially not if you look as attractive as these guys look physically. That's the truth. If I imagine myself right now raising a child that age... I will start screaming. No way. That's just MY POV. I don't say this is the absolute truth. It just strikes me as odd. I've also seen this opinion stated multiple times before, and I've agreed with it. But... yeah. It's a soap opera after all and I'm not picking on it too much. Maybe this is like Bold type of thing when we have to look at 20s looking people and imagine they are in their 40s?! Don't get me wrong - I still appreciate and am thankful that there is a gay couple in the show... representing people like me and my husband. Please register in order to view this content Thank you MVJ! I just hope these guys unleash their hidden talents and improve with time... so that at least some type of chemistry can be felt. So far... all the vets are delivering and I have a huge surprise that I didn't see coming - Leslie. That woman is stealing the show.

Members Planet Soap
Name in the credits, Kurth Farquhar, Instantly recognized him from The Parkers and other UPN sitcoms. I can definitely hear his early 2000s influence in that closing theme. Agree. When I say slow, I mean a new soap needed to start big with a sweeps event. In many ways this was a decent, old school, slower paced pilot episode. On par with the pilot episodes of today's soaps from back in the day. Like General Hospital starting with a woman recovering from a car accident and slow interactions between doctors is good in 1963. IMO today, GH would need to come out of the gate hot with something like Jason's accident, Or Monica giving birth and saying Rick is AJ's father, or something long dramatic and drawn out like the metro court crisis. Something that grips you from the beginning, and when the show eventually slows down at least you've been established with the characters. I want BTG to succeed. I Had to fire off again some of it's racist detractors in some chat groups. But I want to BTG to do it well. Members Cheap21
Andre and Dani is kinda nasty the moe i think about it. They stressed that htey arent blood related BUT he's the same age if no younger than her eldest daughter and she watched him grow up. At some point Nicole stepped in to help raise him and is like a surrogate mother to him. He's family and her daughters probably look at hm as a cousin. I wonder what the fallout of this will be. I bet she takes him as her date to the wedding I wonder why they decided to have so many women in that family and the younger male is gay, but with a different last name so it wouldnt have solved that issue anyway Edited February 28 by Cheap21

Members BoldRestless
What was weird was how casual it was. Even on B&B they will wring some drama over the feelings of guilt and shame, struggling with the attraction and how family members will react, and then giving in to passion. This was like, "hey remember were not related, wanna boink?" "OK!" I'm curious to see where it goes. It seems like it should be a secret that really hurts Nicole and Ted but Dani and Andre didn't seem to think so. I expect Nicole to be upset Dani would use her nephew she raised like a son as her "best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody."
