I'm sorry, I have tried and tried, but.... Thorsten Kaye is completely wrong as Ridge Forrester. He looks like a slob in that clip, and not like a stylish fashion designer. Ronn Moss is a terrible actor, but he embodied the character of Ridge Forrester in a way that Thorsten Kaye just can't match.

Ronn will always be Ridge for me.

Thorsten is just playing a totally new character. He and KKL have zero chemistry.

They should have killed off Ridge when Ronn left. In that clip Thorsten looks more like a character from "Roseanne" than like Ridge Forrester.

Y&R: Two former cast members return!

Sony ordered -- and they just finished filming -- a ten-episode season of the SWAT spinoff. Interestingly, Sony ordered this spinoff and had the filming done, without a buyer to air or stream it. I read that, and thought wtf? I must be misunderstanding what I was reading! So I found more articles that verify this is true. The season is filmed with no buyer so nobody knows when/where it will air or stream.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Someone else will remember in more detail than I do, but there was a whole storyline tying in a record label to help Lujack become a rock star while simultaneously hypnotizing Billy into shooting Kyle, the newfound half-brother he despised. Lujack died in an explosion helping to defeat them. Billy did shoot Kyle, IIRC, and went on trial, but was exonerated.
If you want more of a glimpse at '60s GL, there is an episode or two from earlier in the decade and then a chunk from summer 1966. This is near the end of the show still being 15 minutes and also when they were phasing the show from being in Selby Flats to Springfield.

I think there are a few later July 1966 episodes on that channel too.
As for what is the good or bad period of GL, GL was a rollercoaster for most of those last 25 years. In some ways that kept the show feeling punchy and more like a survivor than shows that are just consistent, but I would have loved a longer flavor of what is available of the Dobsons (late '70s to 1980) or from somewhere around 1989-1992.
GL surviving so long was a miracle. The show's whole existence, being revived so many times in radio, being the only radio soap to really survive the transition to TV, was a miracle. It can be difficult to pick a best and worst sometimes in that cradle.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

In my life, GL had two golden eras: 1976-1982 EP Potter and HW Dobsons/Marland (I wasn't alive for part of Potter/Dobsons though) and 1989-1991 EP Calhoun and HW Long/Curlee.
I've accepted we'll probably never see Potter/Dobsons 1976-1978 episodes so any Potter/Dobsons episodes from 1979 and 1980 that surface are such a treat.

GH: February 2026 Discussion Thread

Nathan was never much of a character. He was simply the final result of a decade-long project to find a 'hunk' to pair with Kirsten Storms across multiple regimes. He still is a nobody to me beyond his lovely body and nice voice.
I was not some Spixie diehard. I soured on them due to their dysfunctional cycles of behavior and I preferred Spinelli with poor Ellie for a long time, but they won me over again in the last couple years. It's typical if this show disrespects him for the short term though and expects us to want Maxie and Plastic Man #5 back together after Spinelli has been devoted to her. Then if Paevey quits or they scrap this whole story suddenly she'll remember his love and be full of apologies. But hopefully they'll surprise me next week.

GH: February 2026 Discussion Thread

To counterpoint... at least we're getting him on-screen (being recurring), in long johns no less haha... it's better than nothing. I do think the storyline is a bit cheesy, but my softer side is loving it. It feels more like a Hallmark Fall pumpkin spice, cute romance story. :) So timing might be off, but I'm still here for it.
Re: Spinelli - I can't help but to love that man (I almost said kid, but we've aged haha). My emotional side wants Spinelli with Maxie and Nathan with Lulu for now. But that's me never seeing Maxie/Nathan together. Maybe Monday's episode will change my opinion.

Y'all - this might seem silly, but I posted a comment on Susan Lucci's IG about an interview she did about her book where I said it was beautiful and I bought her newest book.. She liked my comment! I don't comment on people's IG ever, but I felt compelled and she liked it immediately (or her people did), but whatever, I have Susan Lucci's IG liking my comment 😍 Her book arrives Saturday and I can't wait to read it.
Speaking of IG - Rodney Wilson started following me and liked many of my pictures. I'll have to send him a message this weekend and let him know how great he is. What a nice guy!
