This has to be a positive.

Ed knows the show inside and out and wouldn't come back unless there was an incentive.

Y&R hasn't had a proper EP since Morina ( proper in one sense only) and I feel like Josh has the EP title in name only. The other line producers are running the show and that's why it looks the way it does. They're just worker bees getting the job done.

Hopefully this is just the beginning for ES and he will take over as EP.

Great news!  As of right now, I'm assuming he's just going to be the main production producer which gives me hope he'll bring back Y&R's fantastic production values such as the moving camera shots, mirror and flower shots, and of course the background music (please come back Jack Allocco and David Kurtz).   Coincidentally, Sharon's special episode felt like it was produced by Ed Scott - everything about the visuals and sound was top notch.   Griffith isn't likely to leave (I hope I'm wrong) so maybe Ed can help Josh with better story ideas.

He and Ed now have the same title: Senior Producer.  Noel is also directing.

Owen Renfroe recently talked about the Sharon episode where Heather dies and how much creative license he had a director to push himself and how great work can still be done in daytime. He and Sally are the best on that directing team and I can see Scott producing great/aesthetically pleasing episodes with them.

A couple of thoughts crossed my mind. It’s a wild one, and has no basis in fact.

I can’t shake the feeling that 1) as an 80 year old, this is possibly his last gig, and maybe sentimentally, he wants to go out improving/saving the show he loves the most, and/or

2) should we be keeping an eye out for a Melody Thomas Scott professional connection here?

Or alternatively, it is as simple as somebody realises the show is where it is now and needs a jolt, or the writing could be on the wall for Josh Griffith, whether close or distant?

I want to believe that Ed can help improve the show drastically. We didn't get much when Kay Alden returned however, so I won't get too excited.

I always said Y&R was pretty good from 1989-2001, and I now realize that roughly corresponds with Ed Scott's tenure. Hopefully he can bring some of that magic back.

CBS has gotten complacent with Y&R and B&B's #1 & #2 status. It's good to see CBS somewhat trying with its soaps, even launching a new one.

B&B is unique because of Brad owning the show and the main issue being him. With that said, Kay Alden, Patrick Mulcahey (as Story Consultant) and Ed Scott gave B&B a second wind that lasted for years. If you look at where the show was when they joined, it was creatively dead and Ed Scott modernized the production model, added regular location shooting and outdoor sets, they added diversity with the Avant's (which I believe was a pitch from Mulcahey) and I also believe they're responsible for bringing on the next gen with Liam, Steffy and Hope.

It's no surprise that now that all three gone B&B has gotten significantly worse.

I don’t see this as a show changing  thing. He’ll just be filling a position. B&B cut him. The man is 80. He won’t even be sitting in story meetings. Oversee scheduling, sick calls, a camera or light goes down. Day to day stuff that does not affect what we see on screen.

Yes. Sony sold the music rights. It had nothing to do with the producers. Ed Scott cannot get back those music cues.

It does bring up a question about B&B - did Sony “steal” Scott back, or did Brad Bell let him go and Sony caught wind of that lured him back to Y&R

I do think B&B’s licensing fee was likely hit by their recent renewal by CBS and we may be seeing some effect of that now.

That said, Y&R has way too many producers on their staff. I wonder if any of these people will be let go and relieved of producing duties. Griffith and Beall likely just have these titles as names only, but the rest?

-  Josh Griffith (EP)

-  Jonathan Fishman (Producer)

-  Vivian Gundaker (Producer)

-  Elizabeth LeBrun (Producer)

-  Matthew J. Olsen (Producer)

-  Amanda L. Beall (Producer)

    • "On a shallow note" Martin gets all the booty from his Daddy, Ted is just as stacked as his son, LOL! I had to say it.
    • Lol! If Kat is going to do one thing, it's going to be give shade.   And of course, the Duprees would get into formation and team up. Sadly, I don't think they have anything on Silk Press Sheila.    Poor Nicole.   But loving it. I know I'm invested besides I'm seriously side-eying Vanessa/Doug cuz I want to get to the meat. And I love that every single beat is getting played.    Oooo Nosy Nurse!!!   OOOOHHHH so Silk Press Sheila and Nicole were preggers at the same time. And HA!!! The lawyer WAS Bill!  The acting is superb. Silk Press Sheila even toyed with Martin a little bit.   Ooooomg! Eva revealed.   Wait! Is it food posioning for Vanessa or is she with child?
    • Well, if you add that one caveat, oddly, it disqualifies Renee. Because she is one person who was both the planner (if you will) and also the "evil" revealer. Weird but that is THE difference.  And it's the only difference. But, sure, I think those words make it unique. THE REVEALER CONVINCES HER TARGET TO HOST THE EVENT. Right?  Well, if we nitpick The Revealer used her secret agent to convince their target to do this shindig. Yes. That's it. Because Leslie/Sheila/Sherry/Dana/Leslie/Mom didn't do it by herself. She HAD to have Eva doing her part.  Okay, run with that.  And, why not discuss it here? It's topical.
    • Hahaha!!! Not Naomi being sure Chelesa ain't filming this time!!!   At last! Kat is proven right!!!   And hey, Nicole's Doctor friend, hey!!!   So far...this is giving.
    • Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
    • I agree, all the Guys Tux were nice. I like how they differ from each other and all stylish in a way. Awe, same. Can not believe I actually have enjoying a current daytime soap. Rewatching these episodes over the weekend as a jump back into Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara. Agreed! Exciting times.

And it was pretty dope we didn't know that tidbit before the reveal.
    • yes I thought of the Renee party... But this is different because I'm talking specifically about the revealer convincing someone else to throw the party.  And the someone else complies, having no idea what the revealer plans. I'm wondering if Michele Val Jean did a first with BTG in 2025. But the BTG thread is already so busy -- that I thought it important to *NOT* clog it up with discussing this, so I brought the question here instead. That way, if other reveals come up in conversation, it's not a problem on this "general retro soap" thread.
    • Well, good that they showed Vanessa though I wish she was there.   Lol. And here comes Naomi. AND an explanation from Jacob.

She is diabolical! Remember in this scene she offered Martin a brownie which seemed so random? In this episode its revealed that when he was a kid, Ted used to bring him to a restaurant where the waitress would give him brownies....that waitress was Leslie. She was playing games and trying to jog his childhood memory
