I know I often call Rachel Black a demon seed, but this was a sweet little tribute from Finley Rose Slater (at the bottom, below that tear jerker of a video!). And I love the matching raised eyebrow picture accompanying it:

My heart really breaks for Deidre. Christie Clark replied to someone that she had spoken to her and that Dee was taking the news hard.

This broke my heart. I feel so bad for them.

But this just shows the power of soap operas and how many of these casts are connected in a way you don't always get on a primetime show or movie.

And that is why DH's loss is so seismic: he was one of the most central figures on set for the cast and crew. They looked to him for support, love, laughs and leadership. He fulfilled on all counts, and now there is a huge hole in that Days community.

That interview with Eric Martsolf and Christopher Sean was so touching.

Plus, that tidbit Christie Clarke gave about Deidre.... :::sob:::

One issue throughout I have had throughout this whole sad ordeal - and during a similar sad ordeal when Matthew Perry passed away - is the entitlement/expectation of a subset that criticize actors for not instantly running to social media the minute a famous person passes away for "performance grieving".

Like the cast of Friends that reeled over Matthew's death, the Days cast worked closely with Drake Hogestyn for eons. To the fans, he was John Black, but to them, he was a friend/mentor, and they should only speak out about it when they are ready, if they want to.

This isn't directed towards anyone here, but to the vultures on social media sites, wondering, "Why hasn't Person X said anything?"

Leave these people alone to grieve the loss of their friends!

I noticed Matt Mahaney (Kurt in the Princess Gina storyline) posted this comment on my page:

Yes.  100%.  Deidre doesn't ever need to give a statement.  We know she loved Drake.  Let her be and decide when she wants to talk about it.  Also, Deidre's statement is probably the most sought after for the media, so she took time and grace to talk about it to not overshadow Drake's real life family's loss.

Absolutely. The entitlement is so high online for celebrities. They are sharing with the public as they choose to. It is not a two way relationship.

Oh gosh these two videos just broke my heart all over again. I’m actually taking this harder than Kristoff’s as Days has been my soap for 20+ years at this point and John was such a huge part of that.

The memorial for John needs to be epic and the effects on the canvas long lasting.

I'm sure some current and former cast/crew/friends are remaining private.   Reaching out privately to one another or privately to the family, instead of posting.

Some current/former cast/crew are commenting directly to one another -- on each other's social media  (instead of making their own posts), so it's hard to see unless you scroll through hundreds of comments.   I've come across some of these comments but I haven't noted them all.

I agree with all who posted above-thread that of course
there shouldn't be any expectation for anyone to say or do anything.
