Maybe they made one of the actors the head writer. Actors have perennially dictated story on this show.

I'm partly disappointed but thoroughly excited to see where things are heading. That's as much as I can say.

Bob Guza is returning as HW.

Rarely do Soapsuds and I agree on anything but that is a potential bingo for me.

Guza wouldn't be a complete negative; while he wasn't the best... he at least had momentum in story.

Yes, indeed.  Frank Valentini has reduced even THIS fellow to welcoming back Bob Guza.

What can I say?  Life is a funny thing, girl!

Very true.

The only plus for me is that I can’t see Guza taking any of Frank’s sh!t and he’d ignore any feedback he’d get from Frank and do whatever the hell he wanted.

Guza came back last time with a producer credit for a reason - he had tired of the creative wars with Riche and wanted autonomy. He got it while JFP was relatively shoved into a broom closet after her failed solo tenure.

We should of course note that this is just a wild-ass guess a couple of us had. It is admittedly a bit farfetched and I can't see Guza playing any nicer with Frank than Patrick Mulcahey, if not less so.

Doubt it, because he technically had that with Patrick Mulcahey. I truly believe Varni/Disney-ABC is the big player meddling in things, and have been for several regimes. Even Shelly Altman & Jean Passanante have confirmed as such.

We've disagreed about this before and it's down to personal opinion and YMMV. For me, Varni and Disney have not been straining to put over Easton, Howarth and a bunch of OLTL players for years. That's Frank. I doubt they even really care about all the other random soap gets sitting around doing nothing, like Eva LaRue. I can buy there is a modicum of meddling from the network, but nowhere near what it was in the Frons era. I think Frank got high on his own supply in the Ron years and after Ron got cut decided he too was Jill Farren Phelps.

Honestly, as much as I was happy Guza left when he did and thought he was completely played out, I would not mind him back now.  Seriously.  And not just because he would speed dial Vanessa the first moment he walked in the door either lol.

Sonny/Jason/Carly are still the center of the show all these years later.  At least Guza would have exciting things happen to them.

I have no doubt she is still on his speed dial, too. #thepowerofthebren But as I like to say we are just clowning around on the lovely tease given earlier. ;)

In a way, it would be well-timed since from where I am at...Jason could be looking at a new storyline. Sonny's gearing up for war with Ava. And Carly...is being Carly.

ETA: Since I am talking about him, I guess I wouldn't mind Guza back now with stronger writers. As long as Liz and Laura (okay and the Qs) are okay, I'm good.
