That goofy karate stuff Drake does never fails to crack me up.  Obviously it looks even more ridiculous than it did 30 years ago because he's 70 now lol.  I love Marlena is slightly concerned, but is like this has happened so many times before it's almost normal

I think EOB is slowly finding her groove as Theresa.  It's not the same as JL, but I think she's doing better.  I just hope part of her new sobriety journey is to get a new look and darken her hair.  I still find the wig so distracting lol.  I am surprised Alex is so confident in sticking by Theresa.  I feel like they barely know one another and this romance progressed so quickly.

I cannot stand seeing Clyde on my screen. Keeping him around is insane. DAYS can't write another villain???

That's just not enough for me. Yes, EOB is "improving" as Theresa, but I just don't think she works as the character. The wig is awful, and I feel like I'm watching Gwen play a woman with an American accent.

Personally I just wish that Theresa just decides to move back to California permanently and never come back to Salem for a long while. This is probably going to be a hot take but I really don't think Theresa works as a long term character, and it shows. She should be like Sami and pop in and out occasionally whenever the occasion calls for it. Just have Jen Lilley play Theresa again during those brief visits to the canvas. The less Theresa people see, the better. Just swap her with Andrew and I'm sure that a lot of people would be very happy. Besides, it's not like Tate really needs his mom anyway; he'll be just fine with Brady.

You’re right. I think it took her a while, but she really is starting to understand the character.

The writing has helped too. Theresa’s finally being written like a mother.

Or at least a villain who doesn’t irritate the crap out of the fans

EOB is by no means perfect or even anywhere near there, but I think Theresa is finally getting decent material and it works for the type of acting EOB does well at.  The accent is still rough, the wig is cartoonish, but she seems more sympathetic than she originally did and a bit more at ease with the material.

As much as I like it when characters who don’t usually have scenes together do have scenes together, I don’t know about Stephanie now working with Ava and Stefan. I don’t mind her being a part of the drug storyline, but I think they should’ve used another way to bring her into it. Ava’s attitude about Stephanie/Harris could be pretty interesting though. I thought the show had forgotten about that.

Btw, I see the Stefan-stache is starting to grow in

I’m also a little interested in Chad killing the Bistro story at the Spectator. Those scenes were good, except for Leo, who was totally unnecessary today. Chad’s choice is an added beat to all these storylines and it could lead to something good happening.

Sarah, Chanel and Abe being there for Paulina was nice as well.

And, idk why, but the ending felt a little weird. It was like they tried to add a hook in order to get people to watch tomorrow but it didn’t work at all.

How exactly is Theresa reverting back to being a scheming and manipulative gold-digger and a drug addict equals getting decent material for her? All that's proving is that Theresa is a pathetic and worthless character that cannot stand on her own and is better off as a short-term character. If this is all the writers are capable of giving Theresa in terms of story, then she shouldn't be on this show long term anyway. Even the El Fideo story is starting to look good in comparison.

Not much happened today. It wasn’t necessarily bad though.

Leo just needs to go away and never come back.

And I’m not here for a Brady/Kristen reunion either. Brady needs to be single for a while, or at least find someone new. Jada maybe?

But I am interested in whether or not the show’s going to push the mystery of who the dirty cop is. I still really like how they seem to be laying the groundwork for future story.

And surprisingly, I thought RSW did better than he usually does today. He still needs work though. Alex actually seemed sincere today in trying to get Theresa to stay in town. Usually, in scenes like this he comes off as sneaky and manipulative but he didn’t today.

I realize it is an age-old scab writer's trick, but the use flashbacks in the Theresa and Alex scene were absurd.  As an audience, we are well aware of their motives, and we don't need to rewatch a scene from a few months to remind ourselves.  It is just heavy-handed and silly.

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
