To all the naysayers, what would you do to fix the current Y&R opening visuals? I remember in the old days of this board there were so many talented artists. I would love to see someone conceptualize a better/modern opening concept..

Have the actors portaits in the style of the 70s/early 80s sketch, transform into the cast shots mimicking the 90s style.

So far, Melody Thomas and Lauralee Bell are both wearing dresses different from their cast photo looks.
Let’s see who else diverted from them.

Sharon Case, Eileen Davidson, Amelia Heinle, Elizabeth Hendrickson, Melissa Ordway & Melody Thomas Scott so far seem to have re-shot their opening post-#YR50 cast photo and around the time of the gala filming. And I'm feeling as if it is possible both Lauralee Bell, Courtney Hope & Kate Linder's opening shots might have been a re-shoot, as well.

I fully think if they had used the typeface from the 2003 opening it would improve it!

The font change helps a lot. I still don’t understand the skyline and what it has to do with a small Midwest town that probably has one sky scraper.

Chance and Amanda premieres today. Gorgeous.

The font change is a huge, huge improvement. That cannot be difficult to fix and Y&R should do so immediately.

I think that font change is much too small. I prefer the current, new font…perhaps a little smaller.

And again, I think the skyline is fine. Overall, the new open is a success in my eyes.

I agree about the font.  Never cared for those tiny names with no capital letters.

I am loving that cast members are getting more than once pose. They are not copy and pasting between opening versions. I especially love Amelia Heinle’s hair flip today.

Let’s see how long this lasts.

Someone tried putting that in practice!

I can appreciate the effort, but why do all of the actors have baggy eyes?  Sandy Dvore highlighted the actor's best features.  This looks like a group of people who need a nap.

Because they're not actual drawings, it's a photoshop action that turns an image into a sketched drawing. Good idea, poor execution.

Whatever it is, it's a mess. If they put something like that on our screens, we would SCREAM.

The new open looks better every day.

I don’t have a problem with it at all. I actually think a lot of the cast looks are better to me here than the last one.

Yep. After a week+ living with the new open, I call it a success.

I despise the color scheme (the white red and gold used for the new mid show bumpers is much better) and the font choice for the actor names is horrible but I love everything else about it. I noticed as they’ve been modifying it daily the shot choices for the actors have gotten more dramatic and sleek which is good. I also like how they fade the actors in and out instead of just throwing a bunch of random shots at the screen like the last opening. Makes me miss editing

I do love this nuance! I hope the continue it with the updates. It keeps the opening feeling so fresh.

There are a few actors I hope we see alternative shots for:

- Esther: She looks so serious in hers. Esther deserves to smile.
- Jill: The camera angle is awful for her. And we know from 30 years of openings Jill knows how to pose! Her shot in the last opening was one of the best.
- Jack: The straight on pose does not scream Jack for me. He always does that side pose with a perfect part.
