I agree. Like I said yesterday, I've enjoyed most of the acting, but the Sheila story is dragging a bit again. So fresh stories are good.

Steffy is the co-CEO I believe. Hope is just the head of the HFTF division so under Steffy. Unless I'm wrong.

Yeah, I was wondering as it seemed to me that they may be co-equals or something of that nature. I couldn't tell.

The Bill and Shelia storyline isn't bad per se in my opinion. I guess for me, I like to see things happen organically. And this sh*t ain't organic, okay? I want my refund back, lol! The only thing that would make my day is if Shelia's toe and Bill's cross had supernatural powers. Hell, yeah! Place that decapitated middle toe on top of Bill's cross and then wrap it around with some string or yarn. I wanna see the destructive powers happen! Have them glow green or red! I'm here for it! However, as a viewer, I never witnessed Bill and Shelia at the beach, etc.

Are writers at B&B taking the cheap Ron Carlivati route where things happen spontaneously behind our backs?

I agree. Re: Bill and Sheila. It has been so jarring hearing from him and her about how they met up at Il Gradino one night and walked the beach and got to know each other. Aka TELL, NOT SHOW. It would have been so much better if while Sheila was at Deacon, they had an episode where she was in disguise at the bar, oblivious, and she hears that regular bartender saying 'you here again. the usual? what's new?' All the audience see is a set of hands...at first. Sheila's head turns to the hands and then the camera pans up to reveal...DOLLAR BILL...sad. Sheila's wheels turning are shown on her face. Fade out.

And then...don't play it for months or give them one more scene in the months leading up to Sheila's car chase. So that when she confronts Finn and Steffy. THEN...the Dollar Bill reveal. Aka SHOW, DON'T TELL.

@Taoboi Isn't this *magical* unseen connection tactic exactly the same as Eric/Quinn and Quinn/Carter?

They've reused the Eric/Quinn dialogue/scenes with everyone in town warning Eric that Quinn was *toxic* except the special word is *dangerous* - I think there was one episode where Steffy used the word *toxic* at least 5 times when talking about Quinn and Grandad.

I actually like that B&B sometimes just jumps into a new story to reset the show. However, when Sheila appeared at Deacon's months ago, she did say she access to resources. It seems Brad did have this story brewing at that point.

But like you and others have said, why can't they show us in a flashback the beach scene? Unless, of course, that beach scene played out very differently than the way Bill/Shelia have shared.

I wonder how the sale and redevelopment of Television City will change B&Bs production style?

I have no business acumen, but it fascinates me when a company like CBS/Paramount/Viacom sells assets that will only continue to gain equity.  CBS sold the Radford lot and Television City almost at the same time.  B&B is entwined with Television City not just in terms of outdoor sets like the rooftop bar/gym, but also that classic scene when Ridge went over the balcony.  Y&R was also obviously inspired by the development of The Grove next door when that had that story in 2007 about the construction of the Clear Springs parking lot that caved in and trapped Sharon and Nick.

The new owner is redeveloping the complex, and CBS is currently leasing both lots, but I wonder how long that will last, and how it will effect the look of both shows?

https://therealdeal.com/la/2021/03/26/hackman-unveils-massive-plan-to-redevelop-cbs-television-city/

Surface parking lots and two sound stages built in the 1990s would be razed to make way for the new construction. Parking garages with room for 5,300 vehicles would be added.  Hackman plans to preserve the four original sound stages designed by architect William Pereira and built in 1952

I wasn't a regular viewer during Eric/Quinn and Quinn/Carter, but it sounded like with Eric/Quinn it was a well timed, not sloppy, plot twist. At least from reading about it. Quinn/Carter...didn't they interact a little bit over time and the writers noticed a spark and wrote it in so it was semi-gradual. From what I read.  Because this Bill/Sheila was definitely abrupt vs they should have showed a subtle scene here and there and then went in for the plot twist.

I agree with you that Sheila has mentioned resources before. I could see her meaning this as well. Could this have been a long game? hmmmm

This wouldn't be the first time. Bradley seems to like jumping into a storyline several beats in to avoid writing the initial courtship. We never saw Eric & Quinn come together initially -- it was just a cliffhanger shock to find them in bed together.  Didn't they do the same when Eric and Donna started boinking again?  They did the same bedroom shocker some 10 years back when Taylor and Thorne got back together.

I'm not new to B&B, but let's just say I'm now trying to get back into again after a long hiatus. I want to to watch it regularly, but the same repetitive dialogue on this show drives me nuts. It's like a Hooked on Phonics for those who may be morons or something. I dunno. All I know is that I'm tired of hearing the same sh!t every damn fckin' day. God. Bless. It! I'm serious!

Hell, even today, I heard this sentence for like the 54th time: "You put a bullet in your son! You left him to die. You gunned down Steffy ..." For the love of God, SHUT ... UP! God, make it stop.

I get so tickled at the "around the office" wear of Paris, Steffy, and formerly Zoe. It totally looks like what little girls imagine high fashion to be, feels like a Disney channel show. I do think Paris, who is always gorgeous, looks even better with the darker hair.

I enjoy Thomas, but I won't make excuses for him. He doesn't deserve to be awarded so quickly, but hey, I guess business is business. Don't you all remember, maybe a year or more ago, how he was majorly crushing on Paris for about a week but then it got dropped? A lot like Paris' crush on Finn, and Carter and Katie's flirtation tha was only resuscitated because Quinn left town.

Zende saying that he and Paris are just friends? Poor dude, better pray for otherwise because characters without a single romantic prospect don't fare too well. I agree with the above poster that the Thomas/Paris/Zende triangle is ready to write itself. I'm just not too sure that it'll be all that interesting.

I'm not convinced that $Bill doesn't have something up his sleeve re: Sheila.

Spot on! Man, Monday's scenes were the same. What I will restate: HT is a master. Taking horrific, wordy, nonsensical dialogue and turning into something *and* with waterworks! I just wish Katie wasn't such a blah character.

Imagine what HT could've done on Y&R instead of her 15 years on B&B ...

    • Y'all are bringing back great memories of AMC 2.0 for me.  I haven't thought about it and the new characters in so long, well since it aired, and I plan to go re-watch it now. When AMC ended, I finally came to peace with it and accepted that I will never watch an hour of a TV show daily in my life again... something that I had been doing since I was 6-7 years old. I was starting a new career, relationship, and chapter in life when AMC 2.0 came out.  I found a way to watch it, but things felt differently for me at the time and when it was so short-lived and gone, it became such a distant memory, sadly.
    • That's a great point. I wish the writing could find those nuances.
    • After all Lulu's been through with her coma and missing years I can get her being on the sensitive side especially when talking to her mother.  I was thinking it was more a culmination of everything than just this one particular problem.
    • I see her moral dilemma, too, and I don't think Lulu was out of line. I just felt it was overboard for her to break down in tears over her dilemma.
    • I also think the fact Lulu chose abortion and Brook Lynn chose to give a baby up for adoption instead when they were in similar situations adds another layer to this.  The writing doesn't really state this, but I can see Lulu slightly spiraling about thinking she could have an adult child out there if she made a different choice.  Both woman made the right choices for themselves at the time, but I can see both making parallels to their decisions.
    • SO good!  I agree. Classic soap opera and it was a cliffhanger I've been craving for weeks now.  First time in a while that I can't wait for tomorrow's episode!
    • -- I was OK with the music. I think the first 5 minutes of the first episode spoiled us -- we really thought we were going to get "real music" a lot more often. Instead, we got some budget money for the opening scene, and that was it. -- I'd like music to be used more often, but I'll put that on production and not on the musicc supervisor. I think they've intentionally dialed down the music on this show. -- Editing? I still have major problems with it. This episode was SO good, but almost every fade to commercial was off or bad. I just don't get it. That, too, is intentional, but I have no idea what they're going for. It isn't working.
    • I’m up to Jan. 8, 1996 and into a new year! This NYE masquerade ball has been outstanding soap opera! The jig is up with Marian. Brent stages a dummy in a wig at his apartment, making Cleary think Marian is alone at home all night, but Brent is really dressed up at the ball and stalking Lucy and AM. Meanwhile, Frank is at the docks and finds a wrapped floating body (Nadine) and calls it in.  At the same time, unlucky for Brent, Susan just woke up from her coma and remembers Marian attacking her and tells Nick everything! Nick immediately calls Frank to tell him the news. Back at the party, Brent calls AM, pretending to be Marian, and lures him to her apartment just as Frank and Clearly storm in and they all find the dummy in a wig. Brent, now dressed as Zoro like AM was at the party, grabs Lucy, kisses her, she realizes it isn’t AM, and Brent attacks and drugs her unconscious!  I can’t wait to see how this turns out… except for… In this moment, in the middle of the ball, a new actor takes over for Brent. So the episode starts with Brent attacking Lucy, but you have the voiceover man say “Today, the role of Brent Lawrence will be played by…” - taking you out of the scene, wondering what in the world happened. I know what happened, but I’m sure if I were watching live in the 90s without internet, I would be gasping. I had no idea the switchover happened mid-ball where you have the entire cast dressed up, working long hours. I have to imagine the stress of it all made Frank Beaty have his mental break, but I wonder how the rest of the cast/crew dealt with it given it happened right in the middle of this ball that everyone was at for multiple episodes. Did they have to delay the filming schedule to find a new actor? The actor must have had zero time to prep for the role, although I’m assuming we won’t see Marian anymore now that she’s been known to be a fake. I want to know all the juicy BTS details haha. But now, Rick caught wind that the police are trying to find Marian at the party and he starts to put the pieces together, given that he’s the only one that knows Marian is really a man. He walks outside and tells AM, Buzz, Frank and the police that Marian is a man and chaos ensues. Also, Nick finally proposes to Susan in the hospital in a very sweet scene. I didn’t enjoy Susan or this pairing in the beginning, but they’ve really grown on me and I really like how tough Susan is. She was the only one who really caught onto Marian and stood up to her. Meanwhile, Amanda locks Blake in a bathroom and ends up pulling Roger into a kiss after midnight, which Blake sees after she finally escapes. The girls fight, slap each other, throw food and pies… what a fun time haha. Reva the diva is in full force and her sweet milkmaid Goshen personality went out the door for good. She makes Alan go to the ball with her, dressed in a sexy red dress, and makes quite a scene. She kisses Josh, they fight in front of the whole party, she breaks down, they scream at each other, poor Annie runs off crying and Reva leaves the party and tries to seduce Alan to make herself feel better. Reva’s performance in front of everyone was pure Reva and honestly the Reva I prefer.  I was so tired of Amish Reva for 7 months, so this is a breath of fresh air. I don’t think it all came together perfectly, and I don’t think Reva nor Josh have made good decisions, but at least the story is now moving forward and I have the old Reva back, for better or worse haha. I’m a little disappointed in Bridget. She’s very quick to crush on Hart again and she’s almost pining after him at this ball. Vanessa of course isn’t that happy with what she’s seeing. Matt tries to reassure her. Speaking of, Matt is looking really good at this ball - the mustache and hat really works for him (sorry, PJ haha).  Another point about Bridget that bothers me, which is the writers’ fault, but she’s been totally dropped from the Lucy/Brent storyline. They were basically best friends and she was involved in the beginning, but they completely replaced her friend role with Susan/Nick, which I get because she has HIV/AIDs and Bridget may not have worked as well when the story continued along that path.  But still, I wish we could see Bridget checking in on her or be worried for her (same with David). Finally, a little story is brewing with Griffin and Gilly’s mom, Vivian. She just confronted him and asks if he’s planning to do to her daughter what he did to her long ago.  Interesting…
    • AMC 2.0 was fantastic; it was strong and it was bold and pushed some boundaries with how it told the Cassandra storyline. When Y&R did it soon after, you could tell how watered down it was on Y&R.
