Marcus Aurelius would have been a little "on the nose" given that his brother was named Roman,  But, somewhere along the way they would've needed to explain why this Irish family named their sons after leaders of the Roman Empire.  And if Caroline had named him Pericles, his Greek origin would've been too obvious.

They must have hung on to this idea for a bit. I recall seeing a clip from 1982 with Catherine Mary Stewart's Kayla telling someone - I think it may have been Marlena? - about her absent brother Marcus.

Obviously, by the time he showed up in 1983, he was Beauregard/Bo.

Although someone must have liked the name Marcus, since the character of Marcus Hunter did come later on...

In the original pre-OLTL bible for AMC, the Martin family was the Craig family: Dr. Joe Craig, his son John, daughter Teresa (nicknamed Tara), and younger son Danny. The Brents - Ted, Ruth, and Phil - were originally the Martins, and Ruth’s sister Amy was originally Carol.

Nina Cortlandt was first referred to as Lily.

From the bible:

"...Joe returned with his elder son, John, age twenty, who is now away at pre-med himself, seventeen-year old Teresa, generally known as Tara, and twelve-year old Danny..."

It also gives Joe's late father and Kate's late husband the name "John," but I believe he ended up being referred to as "Henry" on the show.

I believe Carol stayed on and tried to save her marriage to Linc and form a relationship with her son, Phillip, who had killed his real father Nick Davis.

Was it worth it to have Rosemary Prinz only agree to 6 months and then drop the character for good? At least a recast Amy could have returned say a year later to play out the story.

It never made sense to me that Amy would just leave and that was that.

This is correct. From what I gather, Nick was meant to be a much more villainous figure who never shows up in PV. Phil goes to work at his bar in New York and is finally driven to a moment of temporary anger in which he beats Nick to death. Of course, Nick goes on to become one of the defining faces of the show in the 70s, so I bet the change in story for both he and Carol/Amy was due to Rosemary agreeing to play Amy but for only six months. The whole story of Phil's paternity would have felt like a waste of time if both of his real parents were gone within the first year.

Terry. Also, the "Episode 1" with the cleaner type face is from the 1967 draft.

I love that the show's opening was originally described as people walking up a hill with the whole "The Great and the Least" thing as an epigram similar to Day's "Like sands through the hour glass..."

She wasn't in the bible.

The copy of the bible the images are taken from is from the one in Bill Bell's collection at UCLA.

    • We get it, you don't like this show or the actors. You've said that over and over again, Mr. Vanguard America/VDARE.
    • Lol at the WSB hot guy asking Joss if she was okay with betraying her friends.  Of course she is! Chase coming in hot at Dante was a choice. It's also quite hypocritical since Chase is lying to him about Dante's own child and making Lulu the bad guy.  Talk to the grown woman yourself Chase.  Don't make Dante do it. Lulu and Laura had some great scenes. The Rocco/Danny party is obvious an anvil for something happening and probably the Gio secret coming out. The Willow/Drew/Nina scenes were kind of anti-climatic?  I get why Nina chose this path as the way to get rid of Drew, but will anyone ever find out Drew was sleeping with Nina?
    • I was reading the NYT article on Roku's purchase of FrndlyTV. As anyone who has read my posting knows, I think re-airing old soaps is an imprudent idea. However, I will admit that if large media companies are looking for more streaming content.  And, if advances in AI continue to make the digitization process faster and cheaper.  Those of you who want the owners of the IP to release anything in their vaults may have reason to be hopeful.  Because the makers of TV's want to get into streaming in order to encourage young people to get back in the habit of updating their TV devices every few years.  And, Roku's plan is market exclusive content, that you have to buy a Roku device to view.  And you-know-who has a ton of content to sell.
    • This was  the messiest hour of television I’ve seen since Kenya Moore asked “who is this hoe?”
    • details of the current Health Secretary RFK Jr's insane beliefs - Doesn't believe that germs cause illness; suggests HIV doesn't cause AIDS; suggests antidepressants are behind mass shootings; believes that vaccines are harmful; suggests chemicals in water are changing children's gender identities... and is quick to promote supplements to prevent and treat diseases, such as recently recommending vitamin A for measles and falsely claiming children who die from the viral infection are malnourished. https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/04/rfk-jr-s-anti-vaccine-stance-is-rooted-in-a-disbelief-in-germ-theory/

I missed the reference at the time, but those DAYS writers really like jokey character names.
    • Unfortunately they are not using this goddess to her potential.
    • Tamara Tunie is a goddess in my opinion.  She can totally bring the mesmerizing acting, when Anita is written for in an active way.  Anita is less interesting when written as a talk-to or a reciter of past events.  I think she'll be more in an active role at some point in the relatively near future? Pretty sure Daphnée is going to bring it soon!
    • At this point I think the core four are highly overrated. And Tamara Tunie's place on this show is an unexpected disappointment.
    • Have to say it, Michael Dietz looked stunningly handsome. The silver fox look suits him perfectly.
