Nope...JFP happened first..she brought Lucy on and put her in the spotlight and force her into AM and poor saps at home, apparently desperate for a super couple to root for (never got that) were cheering on LAM (E). Buzz was eating up the show on Jill's watch, Kat left during Jill, she put Gilly with Sid Dickerson instead of AM and then McTavish came on board and just, continued the same...(though she upped Jill by making poor Gilly fall in love with her own bio-dad!!)

You miss my point. I'm sure I didn't get it across well enough. I was attempting to tell you what kind of man he was *before* he became an FOJ, since I know what people thought of him after.

Oh, okay. I had it in my head that there was a gap between one #SoapKIller, JFP, and another #SoapKiller McT. My error, entirely. What you had was like a tumbler of poison with a chaser of e coli.

The second part was in reply to Mitch.

Oh, now, surely not, how could a few - count them FIVE - take up precious airspace. Kristen, Susan, Sister Mary Moira, Penelope & Tomas, I loved that story, but it was like a whole new family had been introduced & were gobbling up all available bandwidth! I do love that ED did it to herself though. They were going to hire someone to play Susan & she just tossed off, "Why don't you let me do that?" It remains my only favorite JER storyline.

I thought it was Frons that loved Courtney, but then moved on to KeMo and that gave Guza the room to get rid of Courtney.  I do remember he (supposedly) hated her.  Courtney still had that story with Jax and Nik after.  Wasn't JFP the EP the entire time?

AW had San Cristobal and GL had San Cristobel, if I just assigned them the right one but it was never as bad at AW as GL where it was officially a second location and for way too long. If not for Olivia & Jonathan it wouldn't have been worth it if you ask me. But, for DOOL as much as I love Crystal Chappell, her first tenure at DOOL was as Dr. Carly Manning who was gobbling up all real estate. Besides her being a doctor along with Tom & Marcus, they did a - granted lovely, well done - retcon to make her Jennifer Rose's roomie when they were in Switzerland Boarding School.

Of course not!  And then they gave Sonny a brother like a year later.  I have to say I could deal with Skipper being Sonny's sister if I didn't have to deal with Jason/Courtney as well.  She was good with AJ.  That era of the 4 of them Carly/Sonny/Jason/Courtney was absolutely dreadful and the pinnacle (IMO) of all the characters airtime.

    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.

    • You're probably right. They may have just wanted edits of certain characters. Hopefully the rest is around.

I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
    • Anyway… It’s a shame that the video that depicted Leticia’s death was removed from YT.

I've never seen a trainwreck like this in my entire life. 5 pencils and 3 dolls?!!!!!!!!!!! (this little moment starts close to the 7th minute) WOW. THIS IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Ms. Phelps holds a BFA in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, awarded in 1972. At a time when women were underrepresented in directing programs, she was one of the few women in her graduating class. To suggest that she possessed no further talents than completely changing the style of music used on soaps seems like a vast underestimate when one reads her online biography through an objective lens. I guess that I should be more clever than to constantly blame misogyny for these misguided interpretations of her management style.  But, I'll never comprehend why fans unquestionably align their opinions even years after fact. Post-modernism, and the ability to reinterpret context through the study of history, seems to elude this conversation.

    • This is 100% correct.  It was even on the nightly news where the US Government would not let the cast and crew travel to Egypt because it was deemed not safe.  The Achille Lauro hijacking took place on October 7, 1985, when the Italian ocean liner MS Achille Lauro was hijacked by four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria to Ashdod, Israel. The location shoot was probably scheduled to be filmed in mid-October to air throughout November with a two week tape to air date.  Remember on the show they did some in studio scenes doubling for Egypt before shifting the action to Arizona.  It was an awkward end to a truly bizarre storyline.
