Characters that Stopped Getting Stories

What are some charachters that went from fruntburner to backbuner. 

My list:

GH: Felicia, Mac, Bobbie, Monica, and Lucy haven't had actualy story in years

Y&R: Christine, Danny, Nina

OLTL Clint from about 1993 after Viki's affair until Jerry Ver Dorn took over.

ATWT: Bob, Kim, Lisa

 

EDIT: Literally had no idea Mr Ver Don passed away! RIP.

I'd add Paul to the Y&R list.

Lauren,Michael, Kevin,Chloe, Faith,Moses, Nate,Elena etc

They get scenes and plot points but not stories.

eg Michael goes to Peru, He disappears.Lauren worrie.,Lauren blasts Victor.Michael reappears.All is well.

General Hospital: Sam! She is around and has her scenes but she has no real story for ages!

At the end of AW, Donna had no story except to be a sounding board to Victoria. Wasn't Anna Stuart planning on leaving because of this? Then she stayed till the end.

How many Sam stories really were about Sam and not Jason adjacent though? 

I would say Dante is someone who used to have all the stories and hasn't done much in ages.  He was pretty much dropped as a lead after a year or so on the show and he was on every. single. day.

Jack didn't have a real story on Y&R (and it's debatable he has one now) for years after all the Patty/Marco nonsense.

AW: Donna as mentioned but also Marley 1992-1998

ATWT: Lisa, John, Bob, and Kim. Tom & Margo also became glorified extras.

B&B: Way too many characters to list lol

Days: Mickey & Maggie in the 90’s, Roman, 

GL: Ed, Blake, Holly, Frank, the entire Grant family

Y&R: Jill, Ashley, Paul, Christine, Michael, Lauren, Nina.

Sam has been irrelevant since she left Jason. 

Let me add Tony Jones for GH. The Carly story --which was masterfully written -- destroyed him, especially after his kidnapping of Michael.

EDIT: Y&R:  Katherine didn't really have any story focused soely around her from about 1990 post Marge to the 1998 Estate battle, excluding her breast cancer scare which I've never seen. She was a talk to/ supporting for most of that time.

I would argue Sam's always been irrelevant, but I guess that's a different topic lol.

Tony's a good one.  I think with Tony the intention was to backburner him for awhile because the show really took him far in one direction and after a breakdown and some redemption he would be back, but it's almost like the show forgot about him lol.  I am sure Tony did things but between his Carly/Michael shenanigans and his death-I couldn't tell you.

Was OLTL's Viki on the backbuner on the show's final yeas (as is sadly customary for older aged charachers)?

The only thing I can remember is Helena poisoning Lucas during Endgame in order to get Tony to do her bidding.

Tony's arc during the Carly/Michael story just goes to show that while deconstruction was a good idea in theory, and drove a lot of story for years, without the required reconstruction it ultimately failed and left the show in a much darker place.
