So they can have the same awful hosts in Sheryl and Mario Lopez. To award awards to writing that sucks and acting that sucks.

I realize the Daytime Emmys are not just about soaps, but that portion seems so sad now, what with only 4 soaps left. I guess the streaming soaps could be nominated, too, haven't paid attention. But the prestige seems to have bolted. I'd say around '99, when Susan Lucci finally nabbed her Emmy, then ratings dropped, since people no longer felt they had to see if she would win or lose again or whatever, maybe?

Just to note: The info above is not confirmed (yet).

Additionally, the only shows eligible to compete in this year's Daytime Drama category are the aforementioned soaps and DOOL: Beyond Salem. Previous Emmy winners like The Bay and Anacostia will no longer be eligible for nominations at the Daytime Emmys since their respective categories have been eliminated. They must now compete at the Primetime Emmys.

Agree.

Here's hoping Eric Braeden will pull a Will Smith and slap the [!@#$%^&*] out of somebody on stage. ("I'll be damned if I let you continue insulting my wife!")

That’s a 🔥 photo of LeVar. It’s from a hundred years ago but still. It’s giving vintage Malik Yoba.

The web soaps having to compete against the shows with prime time people. Guess that free ride so to speak is over…. Having so many shows is a lot but understandable in some ways I wonder how many of them will air and where, or if they will even do a stream…

Any chance Jennifer Aniston is going to be involved in presenting her father with his Lifetime Achievement Award? Or be in the audience? 🤔

I would love that. doesn't the recipient of the award get to choose who presents it?

From the way that article reads (to me), I feel like we're one step closer either to the primetime and daytime Emmys merging into one ceremony, or to the daytime Emmys being eliminated altogether.

I saw the TV Line article and thought the same thing.

Would love to see her.

Bonus...you  know people would watch.

That's pretty much the only way you'll get folks to watch the Daytime Emmys, now that Susan Lucci's hunt for the Great White Emmy is long over.
