Jack discovers that Keemo is dead and he has a grandaughter Allie.

She's angry at her father and Jack, who seeks advice from Phyllis who tells Jack Allie will adjust and grow to love Jack because he is a wonderful guy.

Traci befriends Allie and lets her know how wonderful Jack is.

Allie softens when the Abbotts throw a welcome to the family bash at Society.

Allie befriends Chloe and Sally at Crimson Lights and they offer her a job.

Jack warns Adam to treat her well.

Allie is attracted to Noah and helps him get over his Tessa obsession.

Allie and Noah begin dating-drinks at Crimson Lights, dinner at Society etc

But Allie is hiding a secret that she feels will destroy her future in GC.

Finally it's revealed - she once cheated on an exam.

Jack forgives her and all is well.

THAT'S how you write a Y&R story.

I was following along, nodding my head thinking how this seems like how it'll go down on the show...okay, we're following the expected beat. Then I saw the bolded parts. I burst out laughing. THAT's actually what'll probably happen! Haha!

Why are you so good at this? Visually, I saw all of this happening as if it actually did! Wow. You're really good at this.

I especially like Allie and Chance, of course this depends on how old they want to present Allie.

It is a small thing and it may turn out Allie is a nickname but a Vietnamese girl born and raised in Vietnam of Vietnamese parents, including Keemo whose only experience of America led him to think it was a den of decadence, would not be named "Allie".
It would not be unheard of for Asian immigrants to choose an "English" name once they move to the US but at the risk of sounding unduly nitpicky, I hope there is a throwaway line about this.

I tuned back in for the first time in a year for the Keemo mentions. This week I found the scenes on Tuesday to be very well written and they set up years worth of story with Keemo and Jack’s strained relationship. To then kill him a couple episodes later is typical modern Y&R. I have no interest in what comes next.

How do you bring up a core characters child after 25 years and just kill them off in a week?! This is a soap opera. A procedural would’ve given us more than this.

    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
