Thanks @soapfan770

I was probably watching Dear John around this time, although I barely remember the show.

That lesbian kiss stunt episode is so typical of the era and set up so many other similar stunts. They were lucky they didn't have to deal with any of the unhinged shipper types back then. Both actresses deserved better.

You’re most welcome. I actually do remember a good bit of Dear John from this period as this was the period I first remember Susan Walters from along with the very wacky absurd ongoing story of John and his ex-wife deciding to have a 2nd kid but choosing to remain divorced.

You’re right about the lesbian kiss stuff ugh. Apparently that’s why Michele Greene hurriedly left as Harry Hamlin advised her about gay roles destroying careers and what not. Poor Amanda Donohoe as well.

Thanks @kalbir for the additional info on JR losing out to Urkel 😂

You're welcome.

I've pointed out in the Dallas thread that Larry Hagman wasn't so big and bad anymore when he lost the time slot twice to Urkel.

Never mind that LA Law was proof his career hadn't been destroyed...

I don't remember if she even did anything else. A shame as I liked Abby back then.

Those CBS and NBC sitcoms were placed all over the schedule in an attempt to gain traction or simply fill timeslots.

Uncle Buck, Doctor Doctor, Fanelli Boys, Dear John, Working It Out, Lenny etc

A sad ending for Dallas which got moved back to 9pm after Over My Dead Body flopped.

Dark Shadows was interrupted for Gulf war coverage and wasn't able to build.

Twin Peaks had flopped Sat @10 and moved to Thurs to hasten its demise.

TV Ratings 35 years ago for 2/25/91-3/3/91. Was a bit surprised at first by MSW but then realized it was a rerun.

80’s sitcoms like WTB? and Growing Pains were dropping fast. Overall they still ranked in the Top 30 for the season with WTB? at #19, but when they returned in April I know the season’s final few episodes ranked outside of the Top 30. Was the Gulf War (and changing tastes) the first nails in the coffin?

Dallas dying, Knots even in S12 at a respectable #34, and of course DS, Twin Peaks, and Sons and Daughters had all failed in some doomed timeslots.

Ah, yes, "And the Sea Will Tell," the infamous true-crime miniseries that gave us, among other horrors, a shot of Deidre Hall's severed head.

LOL. I remember watching years ago on Encore or something. Didn’t James Brolin play her husband?

I always had to laugh at the scenes in Hall’s Never Say Never movie which showed Hall as a struggling actress who couldn’t get an audition following Our House’s cancellation, yet in reality she was quite busy on TV movie circuit.
