I’m up to August 09, 1999.
*As of 8/06, the ending credits have changed: the old standard blue/white scrolling credits they’ve had for years is gone, replaced with an orange background, scrolling credits on the right and TV show promos playing on the left side.
David and Pilar meet at Company and prepare to go to a concert that David invited her to, purely as friends. On their way out of Company, they walk past Vicky without saying a word. David then gets Pilar to talk and he asks about her family, as we then see Frank listening in from the police station, as David has a mic attached to himself. David doesn’t get much out of her and it seems as though he’s starting to feel bad for what he’s doing. Later at the police station, David tells Frank that Pilar is a nice girl and he hates using her like this, but Frank reminds him of the stakes and to keep his eye on the prize. Back at Company, Bill shows up and Vicky talks to him, asking what’s wrong with him and Pilar, but he says they hang out all the time and they’re good. She says she’s surprised and tells him that it was obvious David and Pilar were on a date just minutes ago. Bill says that can’t be true, but Vicky says David isn’t the man she thought he was. She gets a call from the hospital and rushes out to see Alan. Later, Pilar comes back and hugs Bill, but he asks how her date with David went, which surprises her. She says it wasn’t a date, they’re just friends, but Bill says he’s worried about her hanging out with him given his current charges and investigation.
Alan has called all his family members to the hospital for a meeting, which has everyone nervous because they’re worried that he’s planning to say his last goodbyes. I’ll say, it seems very odd/sad that Alex isn’t here for these scenes. He asks to see Lizzie and he tells her that any time she thinks about him, just know he’ll always be right there in her heart. Phillip is determined to pull Alan out of his dying funk, so he and the family tell him they’re going to help him live and he needs to buckle up. He surprises them by saying he doesn’t want to die, but he wants to live on his own terms. He says starting today, his life will change forever and he will stop overlooking those he loves, and plans to spend more time with everyone. He then calls the press in and announces to everyone that he’s resigning from Spaulding Enterprises, which shocks everyone. He actually then mentions Alan-Michael, Alex and Amanda by saying he’s talked to them all about this. He then names Phillip as CEO, Vanessa as President, Beth as Director of Marketing (LOL), and India as Executive Ambassador, which is a new role he created for her. Poor Vicky got the shaft, as he says she’ll continue in her duties supporting Vanessa and Beth, which clearly disappoints her. David, who showed up to the hospital and overheard, later tries to comfort Vicky, but she’s livid and tells him to go away. She says she can’t trust him and she can’t trust her family, who just spit in her face, so going forward, she’s only going to trust herself.
Jesse confides in Buzz about his issues with Drew and moving out of their loft, so Buzz tells him he can move in with him for now. Meanwhile, Drew confides in Selena about the Jesse thing, which turns into a conversation about her feelings about Buzz. As they’re talking, Buzz and Jesse show up to pack his stuff and it doesn’t go well; they all argue, men vs. the women. The next day, Max comes home from hanging out with friends and finds a very sad Drew. She finally tells him that Jesse moved out, which makes Max think it’s because he’s driving a wedge between them, but Drew assures him that it has nothing to do with him and she and Jesse just need a little break right now.
Danny confronts Carmen about seeing her in San Cristobel conspiring with Edmund. She says it was purely business and asks him why he would be down there again so quickly after his honeymoon, so he mentions Reva’s problems and Carmen pretends like she doesn’t know or care. After Danny leaves, Carmen tells Ben what she has planned for Michelle and getting her thrown in the San Cristobel prison. In their bedroom, Danny wonders if Michelle might be pregnant when she seems tired, but she says she’s on the pill. He is surprised and she assumed he knew, but he didn’t and seems upset by it. Michelle says she definitely wants to have kids at some point, but right now with the Carmen situation, it’s not the right or safe time, which he understands. Michelle then becomes insistent on helping Reva get out of San Cristobel, but Danny refuses to let her get involved.
Josh shows up to the hospital and realizes Cassie is faking her illness and isn’t happy about it, saying she could put Reva in more danger. Blake then swaps out with her, pretending to be Cassie in the hospital. Reva then calls the hospital and Josh picks up and they’re able to talk, with Josh telling Reva that Cassie isn’t really sick and the kids are doing well. Richard, who was there with Reva, is nice to her and Reva just tells him the truth - that Cassie wasn’t sick and she was trying to find a way to get her home. It helps build trust and he thanks her for that. She then says it’s time to take the next step and she kisses him! She pulls away, feeling weird about it, when he wants to keep going. He then notices she’s holding her diary and he takes it and reads it, where she wrote a letter to Josh saying she’s trying to be patient with Richard and her only goal is to find Jonathan. Feeling duped, Richard becomes enraged and he says he should throw her back into the ocean where they found her. She cries about wanting to find Jonathan and he softens up, but says he’s not interested in marrying her again since she’ll aways be attached to Josh (although he later tells himself that he does in fact want to be back with Catherine again). She then agrees that she’ll do anything it takes to find Jonathan for them. She then has another memory of lying on a blanket outside with Richard holding her and she continues to struggle with knowing why she would leave when she was so happy in the moment.
Edmund tells Olivia that Reva has to go, because if she stays, Richard will change again for the better. The guard that Edmund bribed comes in asking for his reward for lying, which Olivia overhears and realizes it was Edmund who took off the epee tip. She angrily confronts him about it, but he tries to convince her this is for the best, otherwise she won’t get the life she always wanted. Olivia is still torn, but Edmund continues by saying they need to kill Reva so Richard can prioritize making San Cristobel a great nation like Monaco where the rich and wealthy vacation. Olivia is shocked he wants to murder her and wants no part in it because she still considers Reva a friend from the past. He still insists that she help him and says she must befriend Reva again. The plan is for Olivia to lure her into a trap during the upcoming masked ball where she’ll ultimately have a fatal traffic accident, which Olivia seemingly agrees to go along with after more pressure by Edmund. Edmund then gets a call that the guard has killed himself, which we earlier knew Edmund had set up to make it appear like he did even though he was executed, and Olivia is scared that he’s so evil. She then says to herself that heaven help her, but she’d rather see Reva dead than her ever finding out what happened to Jonathan.
Josh calls Jim over to help him get Reva out of San Cristobel, because apparently Jim used to be in the special forces and has experience getting people out of dangerous situations (LOL - he does not give off this vibe). Jim agrees, but says they have to do it his way because Josh’s plan is all over the place.
Ross and Holly have lunch and discuss how a company has offered to buy The Journal. Holly says she’s so torn, but Ross tries to convince her that the newspaper will go into great hands and the money she makes from the acquisition will set her up for life. Holly says that’s the problem - what does she even want to do with the rest of her life, because the paper is all she has anymore and she’s not sure who she is without it. Ross agrees to go to Chicago with her to hear the executives out, and Holly thanks him and says he’s her best friend. Blake shows up and Holly insists she stay and talk to Ross while she leaves to visit the boys. Blake tells Ross that Holly is trying to play cupid and wants them back together, which Ross says he can’t blame her. She then tells him about her current scheme with Cassie and helping Reva, which pleases Ross to know she’s telling him the truth. Outside, Holly runs into Sam and they have a nice little chat. It’s cute and they nicely say goodbye to each other as he walks inside and she leaves. Inside, Blake points Sam out to Ross and asks if he’ll look into him just to make sure he’s a good guy. The next day, Blake and Cassie are having lunch when Ross and Holly walk in. Blake tells Cassie how Ross and Holly used to be a couple before she swooped in and schemed her way into Ross’s heart. Cassie says it’s hard to believe that Blake was such a schemer back then. She then tries to convince Blake to go back to Ross, but Blake says even though she wants that, it’s not what Ross wants and she can’t hurt him again. Meanwhile, Holly tells Ross they should invite Blake and the boys to Chicago with them to see a Cubs game, but Ross says no and calls her out on trying to pair him back up with Blake. Dr. Sedgwick then walks in and is glad to see Cassie. She tells Cassie and Blake that Cassie isn’t sick at all, she’s pregnant! Cassie and Blake are shocked at first, but after Dr. Sedgwick leaves, Cassie says she can’t be pregnant because she hasn’t been with anyone since Hart. Blake then realizes they took her blood instead and she’s the one that’s actually pregnant (from her bathtub sex with Ross a month ago)! Cassie starts to celebrate, but Blake then passes out and falls right into Ross. Blake brushes it off and doesn’t tell Ross anything, and afterwards Blake and Cassie go get a pregnancy test to be sure. Blake then admits again to Cassie she wants Ross and their old lives back. Cassie finally convinces her to tell Ross about her feelings, saying the worst that could happen is he says no. Blake gets excited at the prospect of telling him, but then says Ross might think she got pregnant on purpose as a scheme. Cassie suggests she not tell him about being pregnant, but that once she professes her love to him again, he’ll take her back and they can have sex and she’ll wind up pregnant without him really knowing the truth of the timeline.
As Holly is packing for her trip to Chicago, Sam comes in and asks her on a date, which surprises her. He speaks kindly to her and she admits she’s not used to having a man kindly ask her out so quickly after meeting each other these days in her life. Ross then walks in asking if she’s ready to go on their trip and Sam thinks they’re a couple and he apologizes. Sam leaves before Holly can say anything else and she later tells Ross about how he asked her on a date. Holly tells Ross that Sam is very nice, but she’s not interested, but Ross says she seems interested. They leave for the airport, leaving the new babysitter with the boys. Blake then calls the house and the babysitter mentions Holly just left with some man, which makes Blake wonder with whom she’s going to Chicago.
