Krista definitely looks like Hunter so from a physical aspect it's a good recasting. I just expect Taylor to be 'in name only' but I'm good with this considering the circumstances with Tylo. I mean, if they didn't want Hunter they wouldn't have asked three times until they finally decided to recast. I know there are issues but they at least tried. Could they have 'tried harder' to work things out? Most likely ... and to be fair, the show is a shell of itself and I think Hunter sees the writing on the wall. She's not a fan.

I mean, some of it borders on really really really bad softcore porn levels. That's what Brad wants to write. LOL.

I do like Krista. She earned my respect as Billie even though I didn't love softcore porn Billie with the soft baby voice. I just see visions of 'Taylor' doing similar things. I hope I'm wrong. (Anyone else remember her on Married with Children as Crystal Clark the 'man who is now a woman' LOL ... one of my favorite episodes of the later awful seasons)

Taylor/Cringe/Bill/Brooke writes itself

I understand why people didn't like her *as Billie* but I liked her and I kinda liked what they were doing then even though it wasn't the Billie we had to come to know and love.

I always disliked that nickname. because the belittling moral judgement behind it bugs me. She did Emmanuelle. So what? It is irrelevant IMO to whether she has talent or is in the right role.

She was a beautiful woman and looks like she is still. Not an Emmy-winning thespian but she was charming enough to carry what she was given. I dare hope a revamped Taylor might be a decent fit, even if it is a TK-type deal where the original will always be the definitive version but the recast brings enough to the table that there are upsides to have them in the role.

That would actually have been a fun idea but I don't think Bell wanted to trade a difficult actress for another.
I like KA btw but I doubt she would handle well being supporting on an unfamiliar show that doesn't treat well its supporting cast past the first three months after the hoopla has died down.

I think she was just way too pretty and overall femme and delicate for Billie, who I associated with being a bit butch, spunky and tough. Lisa Rinna was a fairly unique hire for soaps, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the recast. The character also became weak and whiny. The key issue was that they made Billie a disposable vixen/ingenue with Allen, she was just a plot widget.

That being said, Krista has some ability and I think she'd do well on this kind of show as Taylor.

Yep. That was why I understand why she was disliked as Billie even though I had a soft spot for her.
The pretty thing didn't bother me - actually it kind of made it a more even fight with Kristian Alfonso although one might ask how PR's Bo managed to... never mind - but you are absolutely correct she became very weak on one hand and almost generic on the other hand and it just wasn't what Billie had been.
I suspect that was intentional though - since once KA came back the writers want Bope to be the end game - but it wasn't right to the character and fair on KA that she was blamed for it.

But it is true that in the spirit of the "Can you imagine so-and-so playing" thread, I can't imagine Allen playing almost *any* of the early Billie material.
But I am glad she is getting potentially a second look

I know. Diversity is the spice of life in that way. I definitely see the charisma I guess but since both KA were just physically stunning I thought it could be jarring at times.
Not that it doesn't happen all the time in real life.
I try not to be negative on actors look when I can but I have a handful of very popular with fanbase actors whose looks are, well, not my cup of tea at all.

    • And then to break the trend, Thorsten Kaye (German-British) on OLTL.
    • @ReddFoxx I adored Eva and Leslie's fashions. Bringing back the 80s, LOL.

They're different characters, for sure. Dani is a "Have" but she still has the underdog, aspirational element, and yearning, for Independence. Similar to Erica Kane. When the show gets to digging into Anita's career; I want them to reveal more unresolved issues between the two. I would find it believable for someone like Dani to have grown up with resentment and complex issues being surrounded by BRILLIANCE from every corner.
    • So yesterday I wandered off on a tangent about Elvis Presley, off the top of my head. Probably no one cares but I want to correct facts. Elvis Presley did have a twin who was stillborn. They named him Jesse Garon Presley & in a level of their emotional life he was very real to Elvis's mama & to a lesser degree to Elvis himself. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled discussing post-Ron prattle.
    • They are the absolute stars for me. I’m delighted every day that my feelings about them from the special on the show, turned out to be that and so much more. I genuinely feel episodes are better when they’re featured. This cracked me the hell up especially with Leslie listening

. This episode was so good, I will be rewatching when I get home tonight. THIS was classic soap opera.
    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
