It’s just too bad his character died a long time ago, unlike many of the other GH actors who’ve had recent tributes (like John Reilly).

Still they’d be stupid and disrespectful not to give the guy his flowers. Alan was a leading character on the show throughout GH’s pop-culture zenith. There’d be a lot of interest in a tribute, even if it were simply Port Charles honoring the anniversary of Alan’s passing or something.

Alan Quartermaine was my Maureen Bauer. It was when I realized the show isn’t for me anymore, they aren’t going to go back to a GH I recognized or wanted to watch.  Sure I checked in at various times over the years, sometimes for several months to a year, but it took me a long time to get over what had happened to my once favorite show and it has never been the same.  Alan was not a vet at a dead end story wise.

I’ve heard several times over the years that Guza didn’t want to kill Alan.  Always reeked of Frons and JFP to me.

I remember seeing reruns in syndication of The Champions from the late 60s, and Stuart Damon was a dapper babe on that show. However, his Alan Quartermaine was something else! A strong, powerful, complex anti-hero. He should have become the scallywagish pillar of GH, but as we've all been discussing on other threads lately, TPTB at that time had other ideas about what they thought soaps were about. Stuart Damon would have been a loyal lifer to GH, and his character of Alan Quartermaine should never have been killed off, period. However, an actor of Stuart Damon's calibre and charisma is so much greater than the untimely end of one of his best-known characters! A true talent and, by many accounts, a warm and funny person. May he RIP.

May Stuart Rest in peace. He was a talented actor and Alan was an interesting character. He definitely shouldn't have been killed off the show.

Also, I loved him as Prince Charming in the 60's version of Cinderella that also featured Lesley Ann Warren. Of all of the tv/movie versions of Cinderella, that I've ever seen that is my favorite.

    • Thank you @rsclassicfanforever for 2824 (and that incredible s11 and s12 upload)! The number of non-English speaking episodes left have been reduced to double digits.
    • Eva and Dana came up with a story to tell Fairmont residents that Dana's name is Leslie and that Leslie is Eva's surrogate/foster mom who took her in after Eva's real mom died. This is what they agreed to tell everyone. But Eva is really Dana's daughter, or at least as far as Eva knows and believes.  Eva believes Dana really is her mom.
    • Kat is so shady.   Oh, Eva's out!!
    • Dani...and Eva??? And now Ted and Nicole are setting her up for success. These scenes are sooooo giving old school soap when the schemer is being set up for a fall...loving it.    YASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! He showed up with his FOINE self!!   Oh my Goodness! Kat is really on it today. Wait! Eva is the daughter of one of Leslie's friends who passed away. OH, REALLY? So that cover story might not be just a cover story then...   These Eva vs Silk Press Sheila scenes!!!    Awww...I guess no Vanessa, but at least she was mentioned.
    • ^^ Talk about being unsuited for his position.....

    • Terrific ideas -- but would Mike and Nancy's great-grandson bear the last name Dallas?  Yuck.  Any way we could make him a Karr?    And in a similar vein, how could Bill and Martha's granddaughter bear the name Marceau?   I love the idea of continuing the Karr, Marceau, Hillyer, and Drake legacies, but if the new characters do not use the familiar last names, the effort to connect them to the past is rather fruitless.  Just my personal observation.
    • And they gave him a whole commercial and everything! Happy to see that star keeps growing.
    • But the REAL question...   ...May Sweeps...OR SLEEPS...???

    • It's doubly a shame because one thing Long excelled at was using backstory to enhance the present story. I think that's one reason why Josh and Reva took off the way they did--the early stuff is really good. (Unfortunately, they ruined it by overusing the characters). Imagine if Roger returned to get involved with Alex, and her brother and ex, who used to be dire enemies, came together to oppose him. Instead, Mike was nowhere to be seen and Alan was written out for years. Yes, casting would have been an issue, but when you think about what they wound up with for 15 years...
