Poor Shannon in 1990, Marland had a pre-JER moment with that one.

A few more for that era:

ATWT: “Why Tom & Margo will never have a kid...blame Eileen Fulton!”

AW: “Where’s Sandy & Cecile at?”

B&B: “This Karen story is so stupid!”

Days: “Marlena, Hope, Patch they keep killing off my favorites!”

GL: “Josh & Harley...yuck!!”

Y&R: “Whatever happened to the Brooks and Williams family members?”

When do you think Bo and Hope will be coming back?

Is Emilio Ramirez still relevant?

Why does the show keep changing writers?

YR

Another character of color who can't read or write

Victor/Nikki/Ashley/Jack

Is Leanna aimless?

Can anyone direct me how to access the USENET soap opera archives??

I tried to find them, but my effort failed.

I actually do remember finding something called “RATS” a few years back, and seeing soap opera discussions from as far back as 1986 (which was mind-blowing to me)!!

I remember an AMC topic discussing the character of Cecily (favorably).

Is “RATS” (I think that’s what it was called) the same as USENET??

Anyway, to stay true to the topic at hand:

-When the hell is Natalie getting out of that stinkin’ well??!! (which is a topic I actually remember seeing in the archives

I HATED Reva’s Exit!

This Bridget Chick is ANNOYING

AW: Jake’s irredeemable, should they kill him off?

Any guess as to who shot Jake! Iris? Vicky? Marley? Jamie?

Santa Barbara:

OMG! Why did they kill Mary?! And like THAT?

NBC sues the Dobsons! Locks them out of the studio!

Characters X, Y, and Z had such promise - and just faded away!

SB recasts Gina with former GH actress Robin Mattson; Linda Gibboney OUT!

And finally...

Yet ANOTHER C.C. is cast - with former Days actor Jed Allan!

USENET stood for "user network", and it was the first type of message board that most of us were exposed to, back in the 1980s and early 1990s.   For most of us young people, we had to know someone with a modem who could access the Usenet newsgroups for us, since few "civilian kids" had a PC at home with a modem.   It was helpful to know a computer teacher, an engineer, a librarian, or a researcher.   The Usenet boards were divided into categories, and soaps were found under Recreation, then under Arts within the recreation category, then under Television within the arts category, then under Soaps within the television category.  Hence, r.a.t.s., or RATS.   Accessing the newsgroups became easier in the mid 1990s with the advent of the RemarQ Supernews, but by then independent message boards were popping up all over the place.

    • They've been on same day for three episodes, which is a good thing because the days flowed weird to me before.
    • I see both Lois and BLQs sides re Gio BLQ wanted her son to be happy. Lois wanted to make sure it happened, so she gave him to family. Selfish?  Yes, but I get it Gio was raised by a loving mother and extended family. Lois followed BLQ wishes Great acting by AS & RS

date: Tuesday, May 27 | Christopher Dunn, Lynn Martin | Steven Williford I feel bad for Chelsea; she's exploring her feelings, and they're getting [unintentionally] hurt. But I love the support that Katherine has for her cousin. Bradley, you deserve one hundred times better than Deadbeat. So much more. Anita essentially tossing Tracy out... whew. She's done. DONE. Ouch... Chelsea hit the nerve with Katherine. How interesting... I feel like Tracy is becoming the mirror Anita has been avoiding while being a Dupree. What are these top secret things she's harbouring? I really hope Jessica's interest in Tyrell is genuine, because if it isn't, it might just destroy him. Back alley meetings? Your family? As if Bradley is not part of your family... Deadbeat, sit your ass down. Hey, Childbride, lower your damn voice. You're in the country club, not the country field where your ass belongs. And oh God, she's knocked up. Whew... here we go! Dante Greene, what control did this man have? But I appreciate that Anita and Tracy are uniting together; I pray that Sharon joins them soon. I love how easy Katherine and Tomas are with each other; it's smooth, it's natural and it's blooming in all the right ways. Hayley is about to battle the Dupree women for all she's worth. I am calling it right now. The unwavering support Vernon continues to provide to Anita is paramount; I adore them as the couple they are. Notes: Mike Manning (Bradley) continues to show up time and time again in scenes with Brandon Claybon (Deadbeat), who brings nothing to the table. There is an extreme lack of romantic chemistry between them. I'm wondering how different Dante Greene is going to be in comparison to Berry Gordy Jnr; we know the true history of Diana Ross and the Supremes, but how different will it be with Anita Williams and the Articulettes?
    • This episode is beyond excellent Could have waited on tge Trina Kai scenes  but regardless  great soap
    • Haha same! I didn't like her in the beginning, but over time, I've really grown to love to hate her as a villain.  I can't wait to listen to today's new episode later tonight! I've been waiting for the mom and dad (Crystal/Vincent) to have an interaction, so I'm happy to hear it's today.
    • I've always really been enjoying the show. It's very well produced and has so many soap stars in it. I was just listening to ep 7 on YoutTube and can say I'm hooked. There was an intense scene with Crystal Chappell and Vincent Irizarry about halfway through that was GOOD! Is it bad I kind of like Mina? I know she's supposed to be the main villian
    • This isn't a bad episode, but I'm finding myself not as engaged. Must be the lack of Eva and Leslie. No Nicole, Dani.
    • Yes!! I didn't realize it before, and had a busy weekend, so wasn't here much

Wow, what happened to AMC this week? Crashing from 8.4 to 6.6.. I mean, I know they used to go up and down much more than they do today, but this seems like a harsh drop (from 7th to 13th). And nice to see Y&R's first weeks
    • Why did they cut Chelsea coming out to her grandparents? We should have seen that
