Let me just start out by admitting, I have been reading a lot of the comments made, about the reboot. I am a curious character like that. Whether I agree or disagree (and rest assured, I agree with most), thank you ALL for weighing in, in anticipation of what Casey and I are creating.
I think most of the reactions on various forums have been thoughtful, and constructive, and supportive, and I have shared my impressions with Casey and asked as to why more people are not creating podcast serials. I feel there's always room in the soap bubble to create, and as I have engaged with many of you over the last month - all of you have good critical thoughts and ideas. And how do I know some of you don't already have something to share... I'll just have to stay tuned 😉
I will share, when Casey respectfully requested my involvement in the return of LOVE OF LIFE, I found it to be an honor. My experience in writing for him on FOREVER AND A DAY (FAAD), was overall positive. Casey is gracious, and I think like all of us, has poured over shared materials and media that are out there, even going one step further to apply it and create/write serial, when he released his flagship podcast (FAAD). In addition, Casey has learned a lot on how to be a show runner, from some the names in the business. I know he sought counsel on obtaining this property, and I can only imagine, as we lead up to the premiere in early spring of next year, Casey will speak to it a little more.
I also wanted to share, the original character ideas (primary/secondary/guests) for LOVE OF LIFE, were very much filled with legacy characters, we wanted to honor. We both have discussed in meetings (he's in Missouri, I am in Wisconsin) ways to infuse new blood into those families and friends when last we loved of life... in 1980! My favorite characters are Rosehill, and Barrowsville - which upon reading about, find both lovely locales. I did a little research on where both might be and based on - as I believe the locale is just as integral to character as the denizens living there we tell stories about. It's the part I love about writing serial is, whether it was my own setting, Casey's or someone else's, where I go in my head with those characters is a comfortable place - that's the escapism from the creative point of view.
Anyway, please do not censor yourself, now that I admitted to being on this message board. As I have learned in creating with Casey, each of us have different perceptions about serial, and in creating it, that extends to everyone else out there. I hope you will enjoy our collaboration when comes time, and feel free to ask questions, I can only answer so much (I have become natural to not divulge spoilers).
