Bob Barker, Longtime 'The Price Is Right' Host, Dead at 99 (people.com)

Bob Barker and The Price is Right were such big parts of my life, from childhood to teen years to adult years. RIP and thank you for your contributions to television.

@Faulkner Now that Bob Barker has passed, I fully expect so many horror stories about him to be exposed soon.

His story is extremely murky, and watching classic TPIR reruns from the early/mid 80s every day will definitely have you looking at him differently, but man, man, man...truly an icon of television and one of the titans of daytime. Just another reminder that the best is behind us.

Funny that he and Betty White had somewhat similar trajectories in their final years. Both lost spouses to cancer in 1981 (!) and never remarried. Never had kids of their own. Devoted lives to animals. Died just shy of 100.

Wow! I just jumped back into Dallas a few days ago and have been watching it nonstop since then. I will be forever grateful to David Jacobs for essentially creating a genre that grew into an incredible world for an awkward 12-year-old boy in Louisiana to escape to - 20 years after it was in fashion. He truly created an empire.

I just jumped back into both Dallas and Knots too. What a legend. Bob Barker, Jacobs, a slew of 'em lately - and too many of daytime's own. It'll just get harder.

…after I watched that E True Hollywood Story about TPIR alongside with the high profile lawsuits being splashed all over the tabloids at the time, coupled with his alleged retaliation towards Roddy made it hard to watch TPIR for myself until Drew took over.  A shame as he really was a TV icon.

The rest of the 2020s and the 2030s are gonna be rough with 20th-century icons leaving here.

Definitely. If you look at the stars born in the 1930s and early 1940s who are still alive you realize just how rough it will be.... :(
