Do you have August ? From my perspective, Aug-Nov 74 are still missing.

To be honest, maybe? So I read the synopsis you posted for July. I have another file that is listed as July 1974, but has details that seem to come after what you posted. Here it is below, maybe it was really August and was mislabelled? The only thing repeated is Sally giving birth, but Bryna Laub often recapped previous plot points.

She was there at the beginning of the story, and then sort of "petered out" (yikes, bad pun!) as it went on.

It was weird. Chris and Snapper were on a vendetta to get rapist Ron Becker, and they became a focal part of the action. Several weeks went by without anyone in the family even saying Peggy's name.

That "someone" might have been me, LOL. Peggy put in a brief appearance on the day that the Brooks sisters gathered at their parents' house when Jennifer died. As the other three sisters were comforting each other, we saw Peggy running out of the living room. That was at the end of one episode. At the beginning of the next one, Chris asked, "Where's Peg?" Lorie replied that Peggy was unable to handle the situation, and had left.

It was quite...glaring that the actress/character was not used throughout the saga surrounding her mother's death. All the other sisters were featured prominently. (Pam Peters had appeared on another episode a while earlier, on the day of Stuart's and Jennifer's 30th wedding anniversary, however.)

She appeared at the beginning of the trial, but was glaringly absent later on as the story unfolded. I always wondered if TPTB gave her another chance in later years because SO MANY of the original actors were leaving, and the show needed familiar faces on board. Patricia Everly was a dud. (Aside from Jess Walton, Y&R did not have a lot of success recasting core characters.)

Actually, another thing that bothered me about Peggy's rape trial: the courtroom was basically empty. Chris was there one day when she came to testify, but in general, none of Peggy's family attended. I was used to the P&G soaps, which always had the courthouse benches packed with familiar characters whenever there was a trial. I wondered if it was a budget consideration for Y&R; if the show did not want to pay for leading actors just to sit silently in the background.

Pamela Peters seem to have had a lot of issues doing the show. I have read that Y&R was not too happy a workplace behind the scenes. I wonder if she and Anthony Herrera got along all that well ? He did say she freaked out and walked out the scene.

It’s funny reading all these old synopses of soaps and seeing all these characters you’ve never heard of and how they interacted with the main cast. Particularly funny (and also mind-blowing for me) was the Natalie Bannon character on As The World Turns and reading about her machinations with Tom - and then finding out completely by accident that she was played by none other than Judith Chapman (her first soap role in fact).

Have you guys ever had those WTF moments similar to this where you find out that such and such a well-known soap actor played a particular old role?

If im correct didn't (Mary) Paul's mother appear on the show prior to her becoming his mom in 1980, i forgot who's mom she played but she wasn't she on in the late 70's.

I think she had 2 roles prior to 1980. She was Ron Becker's mother circa 1976-1977 and the other role I'm not sure about.

Do you have any idea if Ron beckers mom was anything close like mary in terms of her prudish ways or always wanting the best for her kids?

Also do you know if jack Curtis was anything like James Steinbeck?

I would really like to see how she would have looked as a prostitute, she is a pretty women but by 1980 playing Paul's mom she sort of looked over 50.

Ron Becker's mom had been neglectful but had now seen the light so she was like an extreme version of Mary.

She had two previous roles - the prostitute involved with Jill and an abused wife who interacted with Greg at legal aid.

Carolyn Cromwell is talented as heck because I buy her in that role just as much as the prude role.

Your totally right on with buying her role in that moment, they just gave her a different layer in a different field and she nailed it.
