THAAO PENGHLIS CONFIRMS LEANN HUNLEY'S RETURN...

Thaao Penghlis, whose upcoming return was confirmed in the makeup room photo chart a few months ago, has also confirmed Leann Hunley is returning as Anna. In an Instagram post today, Penghlis stated he and Hunley would be airing in July.

"Thank you all from Leann & myself for your continued support. We had a great time celebrating Days & it’s nominees. You will see us on the screen in July. But is it Tony or Andre? #Days #NBC #love #romance #winning #vets#passion #Armani #style #fashion"

Actually, it IS six months ago.  Thanks to DAYS and their wonky af taping schedule, the whole damn universe is off-calendar.

This shocked me, because I knew nothing about it....Not the Thaao part....The Leann part.  I've known for a while that Thaao is taping.  I am meh about him.

Leann Hunley is a legend, so welcome back.  Ron saw her on "Dynasty", so we know he is a fan.  I think we may actually get a Tony and Anna reunion.  I'll piss myself over joy if that happens.

Of course it is not a long term gig, but I'll take OTT Anna for a moment,  and enjoy it.  That character should be a signature role on a soap like "Days of Our Lives'.

Leann Hunley was one of the primary reasons I got sucked into DAYS back in '83. She was gone by '86 (as was I, for the most part, from the audience but not because of anything on the show) but I turned in for her return in '07 and again a couple of years later with Anna's fiasco of a reunion with her best friend Calliope. (Was that ever rectified)? I haven't seen her other subsequent appearances but I will probably turn in this time.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
