I found this thread just to see what had been posted about Morales.  I never watched The Talk regularly, and because I loved World Turns it always naturally rubbed me the wrong way.  I remember seeing a clip of the show a few months in or 6 months or a year in or something and they outwardly were talking about their improved ratings in the timeslot for CBS.  I wanted to throw things at my TV when I saw and heard that.  Like, don't talk about how you're doing against the other networks, they made it a POINT to talk about how they were improved over the show that got cancelled on their OWN network.  Your own network isn't really your competition if you're winning your timeslot.  I hate The Talk.

How bad are things at NBC that Natalie Morales is accepting an offer from The Talk? Their halcyon days when they were getting big name guests over The View are long gone. The Talk was dead last in the daytime ratings this past year. I can't imagine that even CBS will give them many more chances if their revamped version doesn’t work out.

So, The Talk did show today about the Soap Hub Awards featuring: Steve Burton doing a tribute to Stuart Damon, and Jacqueline Macinnes Woods announcing her pregnancy and nobody on this board watched it (including me)?

It is the daytime talkshow version of a tree falling in the woods with nobody there to hear it.

If this episode somehow turned in an equal to larger number of viewers than the Daytime Emmys, I propose that we officially retire the old discussion commentary of actors needing to add a certain scene to their emmy reel, because clearly all soap awards are meaningless.

They have the advantage that there’s nothing left to replace them with. Absolutely nothing. We’re down to Drew Barrymore coming back reduced from 1 hour to 1/2 an hour, no Ellen and everyone already wondering what is going to take up all this space.  We’re already facing a threat of 1 hour of B&B lollll

I watched The Talk when Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Aisha Tyler, and Julie Chen were on board. I wasn't aware of the Sharon Osbourne drama, but weird that she would say the things she said towards Julie and Sara. Her husband and daughter are huge fans of RuPaul's Drag Race. Wow.

Okay, so I just watched Bold and Beautiful, and this talk show follows immediately. Is this like their "new thing"? Where the hosts come out and high five the audience and Jerry O'Connell acts like a doofus? He's not even funny.

    • The writers need to stop writing Nick/Sharon as forever young and beautiful star-crossed lovers and write them as the middle aged adults with grown children that they are.
    • Yes. He was asleep in the living room, over in the chair that is sideways to the room, but faces it & he had one of his bad dreams in the exact same way as always & as always it woke him up. Is that a thing? Are there bad dreams that for some reason always wake you?

    • Yeah, I was fickle. I abandoned baby watch & just tried to think of really well matched pairings. Yeah, they sent Carter & Thomasina away far too soon for my way of looking at things.  I REALLY liked them & they were rare being both young & African Americans.
    • My watching in that time period was sketchy.  After high school, I didn't have a TV.  I would watch in the dormitory common room  my first year away from home, but then after that I lived in a rental with housemates who didn't want TV.  I think I caught up on the soaps during school(univ) vacations, when visiting my sister's house.  And then many many years later on soapnet?  Not sure. I had no idea that Jeff ever tried suicide. Reading just now is the first I ever heard of that. Interesting. I will agree that Monica wanted Jeff out of the way so she could be with Rick, but she would have wanted him gone emotionally.  But I don't remember watching Jeff having any medical issues, so I don't know if she would have wanted him dead.
    • Didn't he have a nightmare last week?
    • Nothing about Joss ever works. I can't blame them for trying a completely fresh approach for her, but she needs to be written out.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  Some of this sounds strong but it's all so heavy and some elements, like with Felicia and Charles, almost veer on parody. L&L seemed to always be a heavy show - did they ever even have comic relief moments? - but I do wonder if it all became too much for viewers.
    • It's a joke. If there's a way to put Joss into a WSB spy story that works, I haven't seen it. What they're doing is just ridiculous. Imagine trusting a huge operation to someone who "finished training" a month ago. I think they're trying to make this work by having a college-age agent be a part of the professor's class, etc. It might look acceptable on paper, but it doesn't work when you see it.
    • Monday, after the party, Leslie showed up at the Duprees. Martin was with everyone as they listened to her for a bit. Then Martin said he was needed at home.  Anita and Vernon knew he was upset and they were concerned. Vernon asked "Do you need Titus, or are you okay to drive?"  Martin said he was okay and left to drive himself home. Either Titus is a chauffeur or just some helpful all-around employee.
