A full show takes time. These episodes have been finished for at least two/three weeks. It's not that easy to do. I'd rather they take their time and do an appropriate storyline exit for Neil that includes former cast members like Tonya and Shemar as well as proper recognition for KSJ, rather than slap something together.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Y&R take at least a week before they aired a special tribute episode for Jeanne Cooper?

They announced the date in advance and it certainly was more than two days before the episode aired.  Of course, the show (which was very far from perfect) wasn't as hollowed out as it is now.

It just gives the impression that TPTB want to get things over with ASAP but it's just an observation on my part.

With the current state of the show and how marginalized the character had become, I'm not even sure that TPTB much care about writing a thoughtful leave-taking storyline for Neil.  I hope I'm wrong for the sake of the fans who still watch the show.

I've only watched a handful of times since last summer and each time, the show was a chore to watch, so I think I'll have to read the various synopses covering whatever they ultimately decide to do with the character.

Very interesting.

I'm hoping this isn't all of it and just partial. If this is all of it then it's very tone deaf.

It wasn't even important events in Neil's life. Just random scenes with people the show sees as important versus scenes  with people and story that viewers associate with his character.

Was Ashley included cause she was his last half a$$ semi pairing? Scenes with Victor where Neil plays magical negro? Scenes with Kay cause she was a huge part of the show?

Seems they chose this to pander to the white audience versus the black audience that Neil served as representation for which he became a culture icon. Tone deaf.

I think they may still keep him alive for at least a bit. He recently said he was going to spend his time between GC and the town Lily was in. And then he said that he was going to take the twins to see Lily for a trip (after he found out that Cane had cheated on her). I could see them saying he went to visit Lily with the twins and decided to stay in the town she was in longer because he sees that she's really struggling with Cane's betrayal. And he wants to be close to her and support her through it. There are supposed to be some Winter spoilers regarding Cane and the state of his Lily's marriage and some drama involving Devon/Ana playing out.

I could see the show letting these storylines play out first (and maybe other storylines like the JT storyline) and then later addressing what happens to Neil. I do wonder how they will handle an exit storyline for Neil, especially since Hilary and her baby died not too long ago and Devon/Lily are still dealing with the aftermath of that. And now Lily's marriage is in trouble again. Neil's death on top of all those things could really send them reeling. I hope if/when they decide to write Neil's death, they will do right by him and have a lot of people who loved him come back and honor him for his memorial.

CBS is working extra hard to make it seem like Victoria Rowell and Drucilla actually never existed. It’s beyond ugly. It would be like honoring Eric Braeden without Melody Thomas Scott. It makes any KSJ tribute tainted from the jump.

This is such a gorgeous photo of him.

Yep. It's just disgusting. All of these "tributes" to him CBS has posted and not one picture of Dru. It's bad enough they never mention her on the show but the man is dead and they can't let it go long enough to even throw up a picture of his most memorable acting partner?

How are they even going to do a tribute to Neil or KSJ without clips of Dru/VR? The last 10 years showed that not even THEY appreciated Neil without Dru.

Kristoff's tribute will be handled like the time when Shemar returned a few years ago and Y&R completely ignored Darius run as Malcolm.

Most of his tribute clips will be from the last 10 years & any earlier clips of him will be solo or appearing with actors that aren't Vicki.

It’s all so petty. Clearly, everyone (social media managers, video editors, writers, web producers) has been given a directive to omit anything including VR. I can understand how legal battles turn bitter, but all of this does a disservice to KSJ. Fans have certainly noticed, but not as much as I would’ve thought.

    • This can be difficult for a soap to depict. So far she's only shown an interest in women. Will a man come into her life? If she commits to a male, there will be  backlash, but if it's women only, them where is the bi/queer aspect? Personally, I would have liked a single gay male on the show dealing with hook ups/relationships etc. Smitty/Martin married with kids is limiting in those terms.
    • Of course, how could I have forgotten those thrilling episodes depicting the fire? Also we had the GCAC rooftop set that came out every Summer. Moving on to Friday's episode. Victor is propped in his chair, answers his cell and tells the caller 'Let him in'. Seconds later Kyle enters. So does Victor have security on the front porch? It would have been better had Victor taken the call, and then said to himself 'Well Kyle, let's see what you have to say'and fade out. Next scene Kyle enters, indicating that the first call was from the Ranch entrance and time had passed . Nit picky but I get frustrated when they do stuff like that.
    • Jordan was gone from '87 to mid-'89. He left just weeks after Robert's late '86 return.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set it ablaze?). Victoria briefly moved into the ranch after the fire, with Claire, Johnny and Katie, I think? Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole then moved into the tack house as soon as Teriah left. I guess Victoria's children Johnny and Katie would live with Victoria at the tack house eventually? But Johnny and Katie went to boarding school during the school year. Not sure if we'll see Johnny and Katie for the summer vacation or where they would live.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
